I have a great desire to fulfil my potential as an Industrial Designer. Design gives me the ability to convert my imagination into reality, it is a career that I love and have great drive towards. Manchester University ‘Study China Programme’ March - April 2013 I attended this competative programme at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. In my lifetime and working career China will be a major power and influence of the world economy. A large amount of manufacture and global production is from China making it key country to any company. During the intensive program i gained vital insight into Chinese culture, way of life and business. I also completed 20 hours of Mandarin Language Lessons. Design Manager, Young Enterprise Scheme. September 2010 – May 2011 I demonstrated high levels of teamwork when I was voted Design Manager of our Young Enterprise company ’Patchwork’. The scheme required maturity, good time management, team work and problem solving.I organised the design and manufacture of our handmade canvas bag range and arranged an event in our school hall with the local community to exhibit and sell the products. Project Manager, Water Aid Program. April 2008 I was voted project manager of our Water Aid Team. The aim of the project was to design and present an innovative new concept for a water pump for third world countries. I delegated jobs and effectively brought together design ideas to create a final solution. Our team came 1st against the 9 competing.


Junior Product Designer, Cosatto Baby Products August 2013 - Current (seasonal) After completing my University design placement at Cosatto I was asked to return to work for them until the start of my third year of University. I will also be returning to Cosatto to work during the Christmas holidays. Work Experience, The Jacobson Group Footwear and Leisure August 2013 (1 Week) Rossendale The Jacobson group supply customer developed footwear to fashion retail including Gola, Frank Wright, Lonsdale, Dunlop and many more. I was assigned to work alongside the Gola Classic design team researching Autumn /Winter 2014 fashion trends and producing trainer colour schemes and pattern designs for each trend. I designed my own trainer collection featuring my own upper design, outsol unit and producing factory specifications for these. I also attended the Autumn/Winter 2014 season meeting giving my creative input into the range selection. Design Intern, Cosatto Baby Products (Second year Industrial Design placement) April 2012 -July 2012 (3 months) Bolton Working as part of an award winning design team, on a specific design brief displaying skills in design research, 2d illustration and 3D CAD software. Also helping with Spring / Summer 2014 design work and working with the product development team producing factory specifications. Social Media Design, Wall and Window Decorative Products April 2011 – September 2011 (6 months)Skipton Before starting University I played a large part in starting up this family-run business. We sell decorative products for the home through online sales methods. I set up social media pages in order to target a younger demographic. I designed promotional material for the business to develop Photoshop skills, used Illustrator to design typography and logos and had an input into the website design. (See more on other page)


Food and Beverage Server, Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel September 2009 – Present (3 years 7 months)Bolton Abbey The hotel is part of the Chatsworth Estate one of the four hotels owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, maintaining the hotels high reputation is therefore essential. Here I work under the title of ‘Food & beverage serving staff’. This taught me to deal with high-pressure situations whilst maintaining high levels of customer service and professionalism. Warehouse Operative, Multicomm UK Limited 2008 – 2009 (1 year)Blackburn, United Kingdom During this role I worked independently preparing orders for clients such a Focus DIY and worked with others preparing larger orders for clients such as B and Q. I excelled when working as part of a team, learnt to work to strict deadlines and enjoyed working in a commercial environment. Waitress / Kitchen Porter, Mason’s Arms Pub March 2006 – July 2009 (3 years 5 months) Eastby I dealt with high-pressure situations whilst maintaining high levels of customer service and professionalism, all helping me to develop my communication skills.
