PHILADELPHIA COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER This exercise from ARC 208 asked students to design a new building on site in south residential Philadelphia. The new building was to house a community arts center for the city and neighborhood, a fictitious institution with studio spaces, classroomd, a gallery, cafe and library. The site is on a corner and across from a pubic park. The main concept for my design is a U-Shape, opening up to the park, with different volumes extending off the U and into the central courtyard. The facade of my design resembles a columnade to act as a continuation of the park and an invitation into the main courtyard. The U-Shape houses the more private spaces like the studios and classrooms, while the volumes house the more public spaces like the gallery, cafe, and library.

TINY HOUSE This exercise from ARC 222 asked groups of students to design a tiny house big enough for two people to live in, in whichever material we would like, and at any site we could like. The tiny house was to have a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining area, living area, and laundary area. Working with Jasmine Greytok and Olivia Dellecava, we chose wood as our main material and Washington next to a lake as our sire. The main concept for our design was to keep a traditional wood cabin look combined with non-traditional interior aspects, like a loft and a retractable wall which can be used as a deck, to make the space as open and as liveable as possible.

ARCHIVE FOR THE CITY OF SYRACUSE This exercise from ARC 207 asked students to design a new building on one of the three sites in downtown Syracuse, proceeding first ‘from the outside in’ and then ‘from the inside out.’ The new building was to house the ‘Archive for the City of Syracuse’, a fictitious institution dediacted to documenting the continuing narratives of the city’s urban and architectural histories. I worked with an infill site, which has one elevation facing Hanover Square across Genesse Street and one elevation facing the interior of the block. The main concept for my design is using the facade of the pre-existing building to disguise the true form and to better situate the building in its context. This ‘true form’ consists of heavy blocks, with one side tilted inward or outward.

RENNOVATIONS FOR 1201 BOREALIS COURT The Riviera Family asked me to produce construction drawings for their new home in Forked River, NJ. The rennovations included adding a new door with a new roof over it, adding new windows, removing a door, and removing windows.
