THE INDEPENDENCE HEIGHTS COMMUNITY CENTER IS A PROPOSED MULTI-PURPOSE CENTER LOCATED IN INDEPENDENCE HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE CITY OF HOUSTON, TX. THE COMMUNITY CENTER IS DESIGNED TO HELP BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER, PROVIDING THE RESOURCES CITIZENS NEED. THE LANDSCAPING ON THE SITE IS DESIGNED TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF FLOODING IN THE AREA. THE RAINWATER HARVESTED ON THE SITE IS REUSED AND PUMPED THROUGH A WATER FILTRATION UNDERGROUND, GENERATED THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING SAVING WATER USAGE. THE EXCESS WATER IS USED TO WATER THE PLANTS ON THE SITE. THE BUILDING ALSO AIMS TO BE ENERGY EFFICIENT BY HAVING SOLAR PANELS AND RECYCLE THE SUN’S ENERGY TO POWER THE ENTIRE BUILDING.
