HELLO... Architecture is the design of our lives. It is where we live, how we live, how we feel. I love architecture because it challenges us to increase our creativity, express ourselves on a deeper level. Independence Heights Community Center During my last Design Studio class of Fall Semester, I completed a project that recycled rainwater and reduces the amount of flooding around the site and on Yale Street.

BUTTERFLY ROOF

RENEWABLE ENERGY FROM THE SUN HELPS GENERATE THE POWER OF THE BUILDING.

LARGE WINDOWS ALLOWS NATURAL LIGHTING T COME THROUGH THE BUILDING, SAVING MORE POWER AND CUTS DOWN ON ENERGY WASTE.

THE WINDOWS CAN BE OPENED TO ALLOW FRESH AIR TO COME INTO THE BUILDING ALONG WITH LETTING OUT AIR TO ENHANCE CIRCULATION.

WATER IS DIRECTED THROUGH THE GUTTER SYSTEM AND FLOWS INTO THE RAIN WATER PUDDLE THAT DRAINS DOWN TO A WATER TANK UNDER THE BUILDING.

DRAINS RAIN WATER TO HELP FLOODING.

NATIVE AND DEEP ROOTS PLANTS HELP ABSORB EXCESS RAIN WATER FOR HARVESTING AND DECREASING THE CHANCES OF FLOODING ON THE SITE.

STORM WATER IS COLLECTED, FILTERED , AND PUMPED BACK INTO THE BUILDING.

SOLAR PANELS ABOSOEBS ENERGY FROM THE SUN, GENERATING THROUGH THE BUILDING ALLOWING ENERGY TO BE REUSED.

AIR CIRCULATION COURTYARD WINDOWS OPEN TO LET AIR FLOW COME IN AND LEAVE OUT THE BUILDING TO PROMOTE CONSTANT FRESH AIR THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING.

CLERESTORY WINDOWS ALLOWS SUN LIGHT TO FILL THE ROOM REDUCING THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING, CUTTING THE ENERGY USAGE.

BIKE LANES EXPANDED ROADS TO INCORPORATE BIKE LANES ALONG YALE STREET.
