ABOUT ME A STORY TELLER Every design tells a story for an intended audience, I create my story through extensive research and, looking through the lens of the user, and building context the design continues to progress. Designers are natural storytellers, walking the user through the design process, tying in important information, and connecting the user through the design. With design, comes purpose, always.
KEEN FOR KNOWLEDGE A thirst for knowledge has personally always been the driving force behind the projects that I create. If there is something I am not particularly not knowledgeable in or that has sparked a curiosity in me, I will seek out to learn more. Constantly learning something new allows me to become a well-rounded designer and have an ever-growing fresh perspective on design.
QUESTIONS, QUESTIONS, QUESTIONS With every question asked, feedback is given, and with that feedback, I am able to apply that feedback not only to growth in myself but also growth but also my designs. Asking questions allows me to seek new opportunities that I could have possibly not sought out prior to my roaming curiosity. The more knowledge I am able to obtain, the stronger designer I will become.

Began to conduct research on the demographics of Mesa, AZ to become more familiar with who exactly are its users and to whom the coworking space will cater to. The concept's guiding principles are community, diversity, and balance. Creating a space where the underlying importance of working cohesively, the importance of color and warmth, and the importance of choice are prominent.

2 | PHOENIX COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL Phoenix Country Day School was a project that consisted of redesigning an existing music building in Paradise Valley, Arizona. The project consisted of creating a space where students were eager to learn about music. It demonstrates my ability to strategically design solutions to challenges faced by current conditions.
CONCEPT + CHALLENGES & GOALS
CREATIVITY
COMMUNITY
COLLABORATION
Creativity is extremely important to PCDS, as the future of our society of spectacular individuals is being taught. Being able to learn in a creative space will boost the energy of the students. Creative thinking derives from a creative space.
Community is bringing people of various backgrounds, skills, and abilities together. Designing for the community based on their needs is essential, A space where everyone is respected, valued, heard, and appreciated.
Collaboration is the ability to work with others through open-mindedness, communication, and adaptability. As well as feeling comfortable being able to share ideas, thoughts, and feelings within a space.
CHALLENGES Currently not a great space for collaboration, light, or energy Outdated Lacks storage and space Boxy and very fixed No windows for natural lighting Does not spark creativity for students Built for old traditional style music Materials are starting to decay and fade
GOALS Putting the needs of the students first Socio-economic diversity, cultural diversity Flexibility above all else Bringing facilities into the center of campus, the heart-beat of the space True to Arizona in terms of architecture Individuality and uniqueness To create a fun and engaging space to accommodate all students

CUSTOM COMPONENT A custom component was designed for PCDS that explores the study of music a bit further. The circle shape of the light fixture represents unity, wholeness, and a positive emotional message of harmony. Which is what PCDS's community represents as a whole.
The pendant light fixture dominates both floors as not only does the shape and scale catch the eye of users but also the skylight that casts playful shadows onto the floor. As the time-of-day changes, the shadow begins to crawl from floor to wall.
LONGITUDINAL SECTION A SCALE: 1/8" = 1'-0"
Natural lighting will derive from the circular skylight, meanwhile, artificial lighting will derive from each individual light pendant.
Inspiration was derived from the spiral array model. The spiral array model is an extended type of pitch space, that represents human perceptions of pitches, chords, and keys in the same geometric space.
LEVEL 1 TOP VIEW
LEVEL 2 PERSPECTIVE VIEW
This top view shows exactly how powerful the spiral shape can be. It is completely mesmerizing to view from all angles.
The component creates an indoor-outdoor connection as those passing by are intrigued and spark curiosity to enter the space.
BETTERMENT A betterment proposal was put into place as an additional component PCDS could add if funds are available. “Steps of Stardom” is a trophy case that is embedded into the elevator walls. Where users on both floors, will be able to admire PCDS’ accomplishments. As well as allowing it to be visible from the outside in with the use of glass walls. It will highlight the achievements of PCDS students and their efforts to always strive for success. The walls voids will be 6” deep and approximately 27’ high. 6’x 6” x 1-1/2” wood veneer shelves will be inserted and space at every 1’-6” to allow space for various trophies and plaque sizes.

3 | SOUTHWEST COLLEGE OF NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE SCNM was a project that consisted of redesigning an existing healthcare space in Tempe, AZ. It demonstrates my ability to develop a deep understanding the importance of wayfinding techniques, light and color, materials, mechanics, and human well-being can improve the healing of users. Ultimately designing a space where users are healed physically and emotionally.
CONCEPT + MATERIAL BOARD TRANQUILITY
The concept of Wonderscape was derived from the guiding principles of tranquility, healing, and community. The material board is a direct link to these key words as well as staying true to Arizona. A selection of cool and warm materials were carefully to create a balanced space.

Wellness was key while designing the space, as SCNM is a healing space, users should be treated with the utmost care. Thus why material selection, artificial lighting, natural lighting selection, and programming were crucial. Extensive research was conducted on how healthcare spaces could be improved by comparing what seems to work versus what does not seem to work. As well as how color can affect one's mind and mood, the ergonomics of furnishings, the benefits of upholstery and finishes, and how color impacts not only a space but the mind of the users. 4 | THE BEAM: WONDERSCAPE Wonderscape was a project that consisted of designing an office space to a retail space that was under construction in Tempe, Arizona. It demonstrates my ability to strategically design solutions to challenges faced by contemporary retail environments. As well as understanding retail as a social activator and also to exchange and create communities.
CONCEPT + MATERIAL BOARD The concept of Wonderscape was derived from the guiding principles of rejuvenation, biophilia, immersive, and whimsical. To create a space that is inviting, warm, and vibrant. As well as respecting the existing wood beam architecture to help enhance the space. The material selections are a direct link to the guiding principles, being mindful of creating a warm and inviting environment that will gravitate users to shop, relax, work, socialize, and create memories.

The integration of greenery was very important to the space as it can freshen up the air we breathe and help us stay focused, productive and positive. The live green wall helps connect both floors as well as sparks interest and curiosity as to what lies on the second floor. Users are encouraged to use the co-working space to get work done, take up an art class, and soak in the greenery found in the garden. 5 | CONSTRUCTION DETAILS This was a continuation of Wonderscape, as one component was selected of the project to further explore by construction detailing. It demonstrates my ability to understand basic assemblies of components and how they’re constructed in order to function properly. As it is important to understand why and how components function, rather than added for aesthetics.

6 | MISCELLANEOUS While studying Interior Design, I have grown a deeper passion for sketching and photography. Both tell a unique story, I admire the uniqueness that both bring, much like design, being different is appreciated and admired. It is also a reminder to keep our passions close to us, as they can be our driving force.
SKETCHING + PHOTOGRAPHY Sketching, much like photography is a form of self expression. Allowing an idea to transfer from a from the mind onto paper, digital platform, software, or capture a specific moment in time. There is no right or wrong way to express an idea. I personally gravitate towards sketching and truly watching an idea come to life. That is the underlying beauty of it. TALIESIN WEST INTERIOR
DAVID & GLADYS WRIGHT HOUSE
CHAPEL OF THE HOLY CROSS
While studying interior design, I have grown a found for spaces and objects that have inspired me and have pushed design constraints continuously. As design is the process of intentionally and carefully creating something while simultaneously considering it's purpose, function, sociocultural factors, aesthetics, etc. TOVREA CASTLE
TALIESIN WEST EXTERIOR
Sunsets are too like design, each sunset is unique and serves a purpose. Design also is very much unique and serves a purpose. There is no right way or wrong way a sunset paints a picture in the sky. It tells its story through its use of size, shape, and color. The transition from sunrise to sunset also tells a story, when one chapter closes, another one opens. Much like design that is everchanging and constantly pushing boundaries.
THANK YOU
