PROGRAM The Art Store trades and sells recycled and donated materials within the front parish house space, while also having a large open space for multiple multi-use studio workshop spaces. Within the original church, mass can still be held for those within the congregation on Sundays, allowing for gallery and exhibition space throughout the week or on special gala events.

PROGRAM Residency studio apartments allow artists to produce art, as well as teach the community in their specialty. The Balcony Library holds a shared-book system for the research of art, and art education. The material and book collections specialize in innovative art and technology from the time of La Farge to the present.

MAPPING ANALYSIS The mapping analysis follows the procession of architectural order in the church, and highlights original La Farge within the space. The La Farge work is projected into the space to form the circulation path and procession for the second proposed structure.
DESIGN PROPOSAL - FIRST FLOOR PLAN The new design proposal for the library structure is made from corten steel and woven metal fabric. Inserting the secondary structure on the second level allows the ground floor to be used as a more open floor plan for gallery and exhibition events, and is a self supporting structure, makng it more of a soft intervention.
DESIGN PROPOSAL - SECOND FLOOR PLAN The circulation path throughout the upper level connects many of the La Farge mapping views to original pieces within the space. It also starts to distinguish the form of the second structural system within the upper balconies.

“I must always remember that its decoration is very rich, and that I have little money to work with. I must, then, take advantage of the way in which this style favors very large plain spaces as connected with very rich ones. -La Farge
