The winter and cold seems to be coming to an end as we begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel and look forward to a nice sunny day and a warmer breeze. We can certainly be hopeful! The Innovative Educator Consulting team is getting set for new and fun adventures throughout the region during the month of March. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out where we will be and we hope to meet up with many of you at WEMTA in just a few short weeks. Last month in Tech Bytes we shared out several exciting changes IEC has in store over the next few months. We shared our new iOS and Android apps (You can click the icons to the left for download) which allow a much better digital playback on mobile devices. As of March 1st we are very happy to announce that we unveiled our BRAND NEW WEBSITE with a fresh new look and style that also is much more user friendly when using a mobile device. This session will walk you through design elements to transform your classroom environment into a dynamic collaborative learning hub. You will also experience insightful, fun and problem solving activities to create a classroom corner makerspace or full fledged library makerspace center where computing meets tinkering and design.

Global Marathon Webinar is a free, virtual event uniting women in engineering & technology worldwide! The events run March 9-11. Check out the link provided to see featured speakers and agenda topics that may be of interest to you. Global School Network offers an area to participate in existing projects and to create your very own. Give it a try and search out the “Projects Registry” to view current and future k-12 global collaboration projects. Projects By Jen has just opened registration for the next Global Project: St. Patrick’s Day 2015 Grab a box of Lucky Charms and join classes around the globe March 16-20. Be sure to check out her various projects as they always include standard connections, as well as ways to collaborate with other participating classes around the globe. Jen does a great job sharing the data collected by participants and providing it back to perfectly implement a classroom discussion based on the real-world data findings. Tie in some fitness by counting your steps and contribute to the Walk Our World Project!

LEARNING & INNOVATING Digital Learning Day, although we are beginning to focus on digital learning each and every day, is back in it’s 4th year. It is a celebration that reminds all of us the importance of always being a learner, stepping outside of our comfort zone, and trying something new. Each year we focus on implementing strategic classroom technologies that effectively support and grow student learning. Even though we celebrate on this special day, think beyond a days message and consider how this could be a focus of quality student instruction each and every day of the year.
