O’Connorsayssheejjoys doingdigitalartonher phone,ortakingacrylic painttocanvas.Sheplansto continuetoentercontests andshowcaseherwork. ShelovesConcordbecauseofitscoffeeshopsand crystalstores,amongother elements.
Art & Bloom brings vibrant art, flowers together

Flowersandwinterin NewEnglanddon’ttypicallymix. Likeoilandwater,thetwo areprettymuchasopposite whenitcomeswhenlivingin afour-seasonstate. But,that’swheretheConcordGardenClubishereto help.Whilemanyareheaded todowntownConcordthis weekendforWinterFest –whichpromisesicesculptures,hotcocoa,andother
funtobehadwhileoutdoors inJanuaryinNewHampshire– Art&Bloomoffersa welcomecontrastwithvibrantlycoloredart,andjust asbrightlycoloredflowers.
Thetwocoincideon timing,soevenforthose wholovewinter,it’sstillpossibletoappreciatethe bloomsasapreviewto what’stocomeinafew months.
Art&Bloom soundssimple,buthasits ownfloralflavor:Local artistspairwithfloriststo puttheirworkstogether, thecolorsoftencomplementingeachother.

“Currents”explorescontemporaryinterpretations oftheocean,waterways,and thecollectivechanges.This exhibitionfeaturesworks inspiredbynature,particularlytheoceanandwater. Theshowisdelvinginto
themesofdrowning, memory,anddissociation whilereflectingonareasof ourplanetaffectedbyclimatechange.“Currents”includessculpturesthataddressclimatechangeby usingavarietyofmaterials andtechniquestohighlight thefragilebeautyofmarine ecosystems.
Theexhibitionreflects bothrecognizableoceanscapesandthepowerofthe sea,andwillincludeHannah PerrineMode’sDripInstal-
lationsculpturethatisever changingandwillbedocumentedthroughouttheexhibitionperiod.
“Currents”alsoshowcases JackieBrown’sceramic sculptures,eachcraftedto underscorethedelicate beautyofmarineecosystems.Herprocessisdriven byexperimentationanddiscovery.
Herworkispairedwith LizNelson’straveled2D acrylicpiecesfromIceland andHannahPerrineMode’s Alaskanstretchedglacial cyanotypes.MaryMeadprovidesherprintmakingand
installationmakingthisa conversationbetweenthe artistsnotonlyintheir mediums,buttheirsubject matteraswell.Fivepercentofsaleswillbedonated fromPILLARtotheBlue OceanSociety,whichisdedicatedtocleaningupNew Hampshire’s13milesof coastline.
