Welcome to The Bear Den Chatuge! We are thrilled that you chose our property for your vacation. We realize you had many choices and loads of options and we are grateful you picked 287 Licklog Court! The views of the mountain ranges from the lake at sunset are truly spectacular and there are some fantastic restaurants and breweries downtown Hayesville or Hiawassee. In addition, being at the base of the Appalachian trail has its perks and the area is packed with hiking trails, waterfalls, mountain biking and fishing holes waiting to be explored. There are also loads of seasonal festivals, great shopping and amazing golf to keep you busy, no matter what you are looking for! In the next few pages, you will find information about the house and the area. Please take a moment to look through it. Should you have any other questions during your stay, feel free to contact me anytime. I know you must be ready to relax and start your vacation, and I want you to make yourself at home right way. I just ask all guests to go through the home and report any dissatisfaction within the first 24 hours to me. During your stay, please think of it as your home. I hope you enjoy your time here. Keys Parking There is plenty of driveway parking available. If you must park on the street, please be very careful to avoid our neighbor’s grass across the street. He doesn’t like it to be “crushed” J

Smoking Policy There is no smoking permitted in the rental or at any of the on-site faculties. pg. 4
Rental Guide Trash Pickup Trash pickup for this house is every Wednesday morning. Please make sure your trash is out on Tuesday evening. There is a permanent trash receptacle at the end of the driveway.
Recycling Recycling is not offered through our trash service. If this is important to you, please take your recycling to the Clay County Transfer Station (10 Min drive) 1160 Hinton Center Road, Hayesville, NC 28904
Outdoor Furniture
Please keep the porch & deck furniture and the 14 Adirondack chairs in their original locations. If the furniture is not in its original location, you may be charged against your security deposit.
White Towels White Towels are for INDOOR use only and are not to be used for swimming, boating or sunbathing. There are some beach towels provided for you for the lake. Charges may be incurred if white towels are damaged.
Septic Tank BATHROOMS: ONLY toilet tissue is permitted in the toilets. All feminine hygiene products are to be placed in the trash receptacles provided. KITCHEN: Do not allow food products to be washed down the kitchen sink. Please rinse off food particles into trash receptacle in the kitchen prior to rinsing and loading the dishwasher
Grill Please DO NOT MOVE the grill. You are welcome to use our gas grill, as long as no children are operating it. When using the grill, make sure you turn off the gas after you are done cooking. Make sure that any children are not within 5 feet of the grill. When renting the property and using the grill, you are agreeing to the rules stated and will take full responsibility for any injuries or damages that may occur.
Pet Policy Pets are not permitted in the rental unless permission was granted prior to visit.

Lake Safety
When you reserve this property, all guests agree to the lake “rules� that are stated below: 1. There is no lifeguard on duty. You are swimming at your own risk 2. Young Children are only allowed to swim in the lake if an adult is present and has constant supervision over the children 3. No roughhousing around dock 4. No swimming at night or in storms 5. Do not hang out on the metal dock during thunderstorms and/or lightening 6. Drinking while boating and swimming is very dangerous and is strongly discouraged. 7. No glass on the dock 8. Keep gates to the backyard locked at all times 9. Life Jackets are NOT provided with your rental. You assume responsibility for life jackets for everyone in your rental party. 10.The 2005 Odyssey Pontoon Boat is a private boat and is not to have the cover removed, used or moved AT ALL. Waiver of liability:
You understand that you are at your own risk when reserving this lakefront property. You will full accept any responsibility for any harm caused when using the lake, home, and surrounding property and will not hold the property owner responsible. You fully understand all of the dangers that come with children and lakefront property when not adequately supervised by an adult. There are added dangers for people who swim, boat or enjoy the lake when they have health problems, intoxicated, using drugs or any medicines, or if you are pregnant. By renting out this property, you have agreed to inform all of your guests about the rules and potential dangers of lake swimming, boating and floating and will be solely held responsible for any accidents that occur with you and your guests. You agree to waive any claim against the owner for pg. 8 accidents you or your guest have when enjoying a lakefront property.

Departure Checklist
Checkout Time: 10:00 am Before you leave, I just ask a couple of favors to help me prepare for the next guests. ü BEDROOMS / BATHROOMS: o Please strip the beds and leave the linens on the bedroom floor. o Place all used towels on floor of the laundry room; o Check that there are no missing or damaged linens or towels; o Leave bathrooms clean: Wipe countertops. Remove any debris from drains. o Double-check all drawers and closets for personal items. ü GARBAGE: o All garbage from bedrooms, kitchen etc. has been placed in the appropriate outside garbage cans; ü KITCHEN: o All soiled cooking and eating utensils have been placed in the dish washer and the dishwasher turned on; o Leave the kitchen clean: Wipe countertops. Load all dishes into the dishwasher and run it on the normal cycle; o Grill is cleaned and shut off and Stove has been turned off; o Remove any opened food from the fridge and cupboards. ü GENERAL: o Furniture has not been moved from its original position. If you have moved anything, please put it back; o All keys need to be returned to the lock box on the side of the garage upon checkout; o Confirm ALL ceiling fan remotes, TV remotes and the fireplace remote have not been removed from their secured spot in respective rooms. Lost remotes will incur a damage charge; o Turn off all the lights and appliances; o Close and lock all the doors. o Remember to sign the guest book. J o Please turn the heat to 62º F in winter and please turn the A/C to 78º F in summer.
