Korean Culture Caravan at Lyceum University Manila

KCC once again hosted another Culture Caravan at Lyceum of the Philippines University, Manila last March 22. The event was divided into three parts; Sagunja or the Korean Traditional Painting class, film screening of Korean hit movie, “The Beauty Inside”, and 2017 search for LPU K-Pop Idol. At the same time, a photo exhibit, hanbok experience, Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) booth, and KCC booth, were set-up for the students and faculty to know more about Korean Culture. KCC Director OH Choong Suk formally graced the afternoon program, ‘2017 LPU K-pop Idol’. During his speech, he explained the activities offered by KCC in the country as well as the language and culture classes offered by the center. Katrina Catajay, Assistant Manager of KTO then introduced Korea tourism and the different activities people can do when they visit Korea. Interested to have a Culture Caravan in your school? ‘Ywan Ballet and Piano Duo Dance Performance’ at Shangri-La Plaza

Ywan Ballet Theater, a highly-acclaimed Korean ballet company in Korea, performed at Shangri-la Plaza Grand Atrium on March 24. Organized by the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in partnership with Shangri-la Plaza, Ywan Ballet Theater performed 11 ballet pieces including the famous ‘Esmeralda’ and ‘The Nutcracker’ together with Korean pianists KIM Young Sook and KIM Hey Jin. Founded in 1987, Ywan Ballet Theater Company has been helping in spreading the Korean culture through several contemporary ballet performances worldwide. At present the Ywan Ballet Theater consists of 22 ballerinas and has toured the cities of France, China, Hungary and Japan, led by its Ballet Director HWANG Kyu-Ja. Their performances encompass unique stories based on Korean history, reinterpreting traditional, classical ballet pieces into a more modern style. The event is part of the year-round project of KCC called ‘Korean Culture Day.’ The ‘Korean Culture Day’ is a monthly project launched by KCC in order to spread diverse genres of Korean culture to the Filipinos. A series of Korean-related events are scheduled to be held every last week of the month.

Korean Speech Contest APRIL FILM AND Grand Finals at UP CONCERT SCREENINGS:

The Grand Finals for the 2017 Korean Speech Contest is happening on April 29 at University of the Philippines - Diliman College of Engineering Theater from 2PM to 5PM. The grand winner will win a roundtrip to Korea courtesy of Korean Tourism Organization and a cash prize of 15,000 pesos.
