With over 30 years’ experience in private and commercial real estate and development. Kevin Stevens was unstoppable in his success until one day a life-threatening accident changed everything. During his long period of recovery, he had time to carefully consider and reflect on his business interests and emerged recharged and inspired to start a new stage in his career.

Kevin’s international

of premium quality which has optimum properties when used in road construction and surfacing. The extraordinary geological composition of this stone means that it wears evenly and doesn’t polish. This brings enormous advantages providing a long lasting surface with high safety and performance benefits. Furthermore, this stone is almost unique in Europe which means that is has far reaching export possibilities worldwide. Located in South Wales beside a railway and close to the regional docks, it is renowned as one of the country’s regions of highest unemployment. Therefore, the future development of the E5 division could play a major part in generating employment and revive the area for the benefit of both current and future generations.
Close to the heart
of his own personal experience,
Kevin created this division out of his desire to give something back to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and to the extraordinary teams of medical professionals that saved his life and the lives of many others.
C are .
This division sets out to support the NHS’s critical problem of caring for an ever increasing ageing population and to address the needs of senior citizens without the stigma of an institutional “care home”. The objective is to create a community of quality homes that provide a sense of belonging and assisted care, offering an opportunity to retain the individual’s dignity by providing an increased level of independence and a high quality of life.
The ultimate goal is to create an environment where residents can enjoy their retirement years in a supportive and caring environment. The first of these senior assisted living projects will be based in Grimsby and Dudley in the Midlands, providing two community projects of 77200 homes with an onsite warden, convenience store, hairdresser, community social centre and other care facilities located beside an NHS hospital. 7

Villa Anguli Overlooking Camp de Mar,
Villa Anguli is constructed on a
unique, south-facing elevated plot of just over 1,000 square metres that is built into the rock on three levels that total 399m2 of constructed area.
11
A sleek glass faรงade runs along the entire width of Villa Anguli with a distinctive oblique projected angle at one end that extends out to maximise the spectacular sea views from all corners. The exterior geometric shape is enhanced by an original roof design comprising of wide slats that not only deflect sunlight off the faรงade in the summer months, but also throw identical shaped shadows on the floors creating a decking effect. Standing here you feel part of the sea.

Luxury meets
Nature Terraza Balear’s passion
is to create spaces where
inhabitants can connect with the Mediterranean lifestyle and enhance their wellbeing. We did just that with the picturesque Anguli and Statera villas, where the interior design concept was inspired by all the beauty Mallorca has to offer. Our designers worked hand-in-hand with the estate’s architects to develop all interior architecture and the furnishings concept, both of which authentically showcase the creativity and elegance Terraza Balear is known for.
21
Connecting the interior spaces
of these villas with
the exterior was of utmost importance. To achieve this effect we utilized a palette of earthy colours — inspiration comes from the turquoise tones of the sea and amber touches that represent warmth and happiness. Natural materials like stone and wood complement the harmonious proportions and dimensions of the interior architecture and create an ambiance that not only satisfies every physical comfort but also imbues tranquility and serenity.
The outdoor space connects the interior of the home to the Mediterranean Sea and Tramuntana Mountains in the distance. A gorgeous infinity pool not only adds to the aesthetics of the property but also allows the homeowners to relax in style.

The kitchen — the true heart of the home and the place where the family feels nourished, balanced and empowered — is enhanced with a selection of neutral colours and materials but with accents of stainless steel and matte lacquer that complement the impressive and clean architecture. Customized amenities, like the uniquely created island, add to the elegance. Terraza Balear was honoured to participate in this project, inspired by the landscape and the potential of the architecture to create a space that provides the
ultimate in comfort and quality.

This island paradise is renowned for its beautiful mild Mediterranean climate with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. However, you might not know that Mallorca has four quite distinct seasons full of colour and life that are all very special and have different characteristics to enjoy.
A time of great feasting
and fiestas, Mallorca’s
winter is possibly one of the most interesting times of year for residents. Cold weather tends to stay in the mountains where a short snowfall generates so much excitement among the locals that they often drive up to the Sierra Tramuntana to collect snow and parade it proudly on their cars back down in Palma. Winter colours and flavours are focused on winter crops of oranges and clementine. Almonds are harvested and are the essential ingredient of the traditional Christmas sweets called “turron”. Olives

Villa Statera This villa is also built into the rock, on an elevated (south-facing) plot of over 1,000 square metres, with 394m2 of constructed area over two levels featuring large covered and open terraces to maximise the spectacular sea views. In addition, a unique roof terrace on the third level area provides the ultimate sun trap.

The pure design concept
has been created with bold
clean lines that are beautiful in their simplicity. Based on a stylish geometric shape, with floor-to-ceiling, push-button glass windows that run the entire length of the faรงade enhancing the sense of space and light. The faรงade is topped by an overhanging roof with a slatted ceiling that throws symmetrical shadows on the floor to create a decking effect.
35
On the upper level, an open-plan layout has been carefully designed for the main living areas featuring a lounge, dining area/ salon and design-kitchen areas that lead onto a large terrace extending out to create an outside seating and dining area. A glass -panelled linear terrace connects the two areas to the infinity pool with solarium. Ideal areas for socialising or relaxing and feeling part of the sea and its ever changing colours and moods. Watching the outdoor sunshine life of boats and beaches during the day or the twinkling lights around the headland at night.
36
On the lower level, a large terrace with sea views leads off the master bedroom which also features a rear private relaxation area, with an open-air Jacuzzi with a lush vertical garden backdrop. There are three further bedrooms on this floor, all ensuite with access to another exterior terrace with sea views. Below this level there is a discreet off-street driveway with parking for 3 cars, which also benefits from direct access to the entrance lobby and lift to all floors.

Outdoors
The island’s mild climate means that you can practice outdoor sports all year round. Consequently, there’s a huge range of excellent sports facilities with something for everyone.
43
Golf year round The island
has an incredible 22 golf courses
designed by some of the leading names in golf offering challenging courses in stunning natural surroundings. (Camp de Mar has its own 18-hole Golf Andratx Course). One of the main attractions is that you can play golf in Mallorca all year round, mostly in sunshine and always in good company with like-minded golfers.
Taking to the water As you would expect on an island, water plays a big part in sports activities; for sailors there are 47 ports and marinas with leading superyacht marinas of Puerto Portals and Port Adriano in the southwest region and Club de Mar and Real Club Nautico in Palma. Being on water and having fun is all part of the island’s offer. If you want to improve your boat handling skills there are plenty of courses. Plus a complete range of water sports in every resort or marina and in the majority you can rent motorboats, jet skis, surf boards, paddleboards, windsurf boards or try your hand at water skiing or scuba diving. If you want to spend a whole day on the water, yacht charters are popular with lunch on board. There are plenty of activities that you can do for free

Racing, cycling and mountain biking For cyclists, the island is considered to be one of the leading destinations in Europe with a great diversity of terrain. Mallorca features almost 200 km of dedicated signposted cycle routes and is a favourite location for many international cycling teams who train on the island in winter. For mountain bikers, they have the challenging mountainous terrain of the Sierra Tramuntana to explore.
After dark... Mallorca’s vibrant nightlife scene
for
teenagers and young people is renowned. There are some of Europe’s top discotheques on the island where celebrity DJ’s gather, plus there’s a complete programme of open-air concerts throughout the summer. Summer festivals are often held in the beach clubs or directly at the beach, especially San Juan, to celebrate the summer solstice.
From kids to teenagers Parents know only too well
In Mallorca there’s always something going on somewhere. that if the
younger members of the family are bored, everyone suffers! That will never happen on Mallorca! The island’s successful tourism industry was founded on family tourism and as a result there’s plenty of activities for all ages from children through to teenagers. Top attractions include Aqualand and Western Waterparks, Marineland, Palma Aquarium, Jungle Park, Katmandu, Wave House to name a few. At Festival Park, close to Palma, there’s an indoor karting track, Monkey Park (activity play area for small children) and bowling alley. Learning a sport is also popular as there are plenty of courses in different languages for young people to learn a sport from sailing and canoeing to surfing. Plus they can have fun with kids of their own age. 45

an important part of Palma’s culture and there are over 40 art galleries in the city that all come together for the “Nit de l’Art”, which is celebrated every September when each museum and gallery launches its latest collection. Over the past 20 years, local investment has ensured that all the facades of the city’s historic buildings have been cleaned and restored including the cathedral and all of Palma’s historic churches, typically built from sandstone.
Palma is not only clean and safe, it’s also easy to walk around and offers a great variety of shopping from individual traditional shops to designer boutiques with international brands. Old palaces and mansions have been restored in the old town and converted into stunning boutique hotels all with their individual character and style. Abundance of local produce There’s a saying in Mallorca that if you stick anything in the earth and add water, it will grow and it’s certainly true that the quality and variety of local produce is abundant. Among all the crops that are grown, some of the best known are tomatoes, citrus and soft fruits, melons, almonds, potatoes, olives and vines.
Growing organic movement In recent years, the organic movement has grown and now Palma has its own weekly organic market on a Saturday. Furthermore, in every town and village somewhere around the island, on every day of the week, local growers bring their home-grown produce to market which is invariably of excellent quality and often organic. The taste of fresh produce that hasn’t been waxed or sprayed, that has ripened naturally under the Mallorquin sun, and has travelled a short distance to market, is what makes it smell and taste so good.

A Sprinkling from the Sea In the southeast area of the island, the large area of salt flats has given rise to the successful artisan production of “Flor de Sal”. The sea salts have been developed with a range of different flavours and textures that perfectly complement grilled meats or fish, sprinkled over salads and even over sweet dishes such as dark chocolate mousse – delicious!
Indigenous Varieties used for Olive Oil Production Alongside wine production, local olive oil production has also grown and developed, producing distinctive flavoured olive oil made from local varieties of arbequina, picual and empeltre olives. Mallorca’s olive oil growers now have their own DO (Denomination of Origin). Once again the packaging and design of the finished product has become important so that a bottle or can of oil can be presented as an original gift or memento as a taste of Mallorca.

D i d Yo u K n o w Over the years Mallorca
has been “discovered”
by many interesting people from composers and painters to royals, statesmen, movie stars and sporting heroes. Here are some snippets about some of the island’s famous visitors and residents over the years.
Composing in Valldemossa In 1838 Frederick Chopin visited the island with his French lover, George Sand and her children, who scandalised the locals, not only by the fact that she was not married to Chopin, but by also wearing

thought outrageous at the time. Chopin arrived in the autumn in fragile health but also in love and so inspired he wrote some of his best music on the island. As the winter took hold, the great composer’s health worsened and he was exiled to the Carthusian Monastery in Valldemossa and there he wrote the “Raindrop Preludes” among other great compositions. Although forced to leave as his health worsened, he left behind his piano, which is on display today, and an enduring legacy of music celebrated at the International Chopin Festival that takes place in the cloisters of the Valldemossa Monastery every summer.

A Voyage of Discovery The island’s most famous explorer,
was the Austrian,
Archduke Ludwig Salvator, who travelled in pursuit of his scientific studies throughout the Mediterranean on his yacht “Nixe”. He discovered the Balearic Islands in 1867 and the wild beauty of Mallorca and the kindness of the locals inspired him to settle on the island three years later. He particularly loved the west coast of the island and one of the properties he acquired in 1867 was “S’Estaca” which was intended as a gift for his girlfriend, a local Mallorquin, Catalina Homar. He proceeded to redevelop the estate along the lines of a residence he had seen in the Aeolian Islands in the style of a “Moorish” palace. In 1989 the Hollywood actor, Michael Douglas, acquired the property with his first wife. A fan of the work of the Archduke, he became actively involved in promoting the area renamed “Costa Nord” and like the Archduke Salvator, Douglas is well regarded by the locals to the extent that they have affectionately nicknamed him “Miquel de S’Estaca”. Sleep in Winston Churchill’s Special Suite Literally thousands of famous statesmen have visited Mallorca throughout the century, including Winston Churchill who stayed at the Hotel Formentor in 1935 in room 222 to prepare work for his Nobel Prize. Visitors can still reserve the same room although his bed has been kept for posterity by the family who opened the hotel in 1929 — the first luxury hotel in the area.

Prince Rainier & Princess Grace of Monaco Spend Honeymoon in Mallorca All eyes turned to Mallorca
in April 1956 when the most
famous newlyweds at that time spent their honeymoon on their yacht off Formentor. Not surprisingly, their visit created a real stir among the locals. One local businessman, who owned a biscuit factory, was so smitten by the actress that he decided to name his biscuits after her following a chance meeting with Grace Kelly in a vineyard. He called his biscuits “Quelly” and today, these biscuits are the island’s leading local brand. 65

Ava Gardner in Deiá In the spring of 1956
the Hollywood actress was invited to
the island by the British poet, Robert Graves. At the time, her arrival created much interest to have such an important star on the island. There is a story regarding her visit to Deià when one of the local Guardia Civil officers summoned her to the police station immediately on the grounds of having to sign some important papers. When the star arrived at the village police station she found that what in fact they wanted was nothing more than her autograph. However, this slightly backfired on them as she fell for one of the officers and was obsessed by him during her stay. Graves wrote a short story for her entitled, “Drinking a toast to Ava Gardner”.

John Lennon & Yoko Ono Arrested on Mallorca In 1971 Mallorquin police had the unnerving task of arresting possibly two of the most famous people in the pop world at that time. John Lennon and Yoko Ono were accused of kidnapping Yoko Ono’s daughter, who was a resident on the island at that time. Lennon and Ono were both released without charges after a seven-hour hearing. Today, the island remains a favourite location, not only for celebrities, but also for filmmakers making cutting edge drama such as the BBC’s “The Night Manager” to the popular television “Love Island” series and many famous advertisements that are screened all over the world. 66
