CANADIAN TOUR INFO

(l) Mike Weir, winner of eight tour titles, (r) Nick Taylor

T

he roots of the modern-day Canadian Tour go back to 1970 and the old Peter Jackson Tour. With tournaments from coast to coast, the Tour developed predominantly Canadian touring pros including Canadian Golf Hall of Fame members Dave Barr, Dan Halldorson and Mike Weir as they prepared for the PGA TOUR.

Canadian Mike Weir, the winner of eight TOUR titles - including the 2003 Masters - earned Rookie of the Year honours on the Canadian Tour in 1993.

Fellow Canadians and PGA TOUR winners Al Balding and George Knudson competed on the Peter Jackson Tour throughout the 1970s as well as the legendary Moe Norman.

Other PGA TOUR winners who apprenticed on the Canadian Tour include 2005 United States Open winner Michael Campbell, 2004 British Open winner Todd Hamilton, 1978 PGA Championship winner John Mahaffey, Steve Stricker, Paul Casey, Stuart Appleby, Kirk Triplett, Tim Herron, Scott McCarron, Peter Lonard, Matt Kuchar, Chris DiMarco, Nick Watney, Stephen Ames, Arron Oberholser and 2008 and 2009 RBC Canadian Open winners Chez Reavie and Nathan Green.

For many years, the Canadian Tour’s Tournament Players Association was part of the Canadian Professional Golfers Association. In 1986, under the direction of Bob Beauchemin, the Tournament Players Association became an independent, nonprofit entity. The Tournament Players Association is the governing body of the Canadian Tour and operates a series of tournaments in Canada, the United States and Latin America. The association represents more than 200 members from around the world. For more than 20 years, the Canadian Tour - a full member of the International Federation of PGA Tours - has proven to be an outstanding training ground for PGA TOUR success.

Canadian Tour Western Championships June, 2011

Four seasons later, Weir captured the 1997 Canadian Masters and BC Tel Pacific Open as well as the Order of Merit.

Canadian Tour grads who have won on the Nationwide Tour and played on the PGA TOUR include D.A. Points, Ken Duke, Scott Dunlap, Jon Mills, Omar Uresti, Spencer Levin and Jeff Quinney. Tour alumni have also won tournaments on the European, South African, Asian, Japanese, and Australasian pro golf tours. As of Nov. 15, 2009, Canadian Tour alumni have won 101 PGA TOUR titles and over US $365 million.

Drive Safe & Arrive Alive! THE SIGNS OF GOOD WEATHER DRIVING ARE UPON US... Spring, Summer & Fall are busy highway maintenance seasons. Every year we have Traffic Control personnel who are injured and even killed on highways throughout British Columbia. Please help us to help you move safely through maintenance work zones.

Slow Down & Drive Defensively

ARGO IS A STRONG BELIEVER IN PUBLIC SAFETY AT ALL TIMES AND WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP! The personal safety of the driving public and our valued employees is always foremost in our thinking. We are also very concerned and diligent when it comes to property damage whether it is our equipment or your vehicle. Loss of life and vehicle damage caused mostly by careless driving habits, poor road manners and simple lack of caution takes a great and costly toll on our highways every year. We're doing our job in the safest manner possible and encourage all drivers to make your safety and that of your family and our employees a priority. Together we can reduce the cost to all of us.
