Swinging Through High School: The Story of a Four-Time All-District Golfer
by Keegan Glade
High school is a time to discover passions, pursue dreams, and leave a mark For me, that journey unfolded on the golf course Becoming a four-time All-District golfer wasn’t just a title it resulted from dedication, personal growth, and constant commitment to improvement, as Keegan Glade explained
I first fell in love with golf during middle school, drawn to its blend of strategy, skill, and mental discipline By the time I entered high school, I knew I wanted to compete at the highest level The early days weren’t easy. The demands of balancing schoolwork, team practices, and individual training were challenging There were moments when doubt crept in, especially after a tough loss or a missed putt, but those setbacks became stepping stones
Earning All-District honors in my first year was exhilarating but set a high bar for the years ahead Every subsequent season came with new challenges: more demanding courses, more experienced competitors, and my own growing expectations. Yet, those pressures fueled my drive to excel I spent countless hours refining my swing, studying course strategies, and learning to adapt to unpredictable conditions. Golf taught me that preparation is key, as is the ability to think on your feet
Each tournament became more than just a competition an opportunity to grow Some rounds tested my patience when things didn’t go as planned, while others gave me the confidence to trust my instincts Over time, I learned that success wasn’t just about hitting the perfect shot; it was about consistency, resilience, and the ability to bounce back from mistakes.
What made the journey truly special, though, were the people who supported me along the way My teammates and I shared victories and moments of encouragement during tough matches. Our coaches pushed us to be our best while reminding us to enjoy the process Those relationships added depth to the experience and made every achievement more meaningful
Being a four-time All-District golfer is a source of pride but also a reminder of how far I’ve come Golf taught me lessons about discipline, focus, and perseverance that extend beyond the course. It showed me that even the loftiest goals are within reach with hard work and determination
As I move forward, I carry these lessons, grateful for the journey and excited for the opportunities ahead My high school legacy is more than a record it reflects the passion and perseverance that shaped me.
