TESS PERRONE Italian Model/Art Director & Editor

t an age when most of us have no idea what we want to become or do in life, Tess already knew exactly what she wanted. At the youthful age of 17, Tess not only showed an interest in modeling but actually started modeling. When asked how she rates herself as a model on a scale of 1 - 10 she replied, “8”. Her modesty is also reflected in her photographs and lifestyle. We gave her a 10 since we feel she is truly a professional and seasoned fashion model who carries herself very well. Her face alone captivates all who see her. Her bone structure is a photographers dream and her total body accents just about any piece of clothing crafted by even the most celebrated of fashion designers.

One of the amazing qualities of Tess which distinguishes her from perhaps other inexperienced models is her ability to always look natural while posing. She is always aware of the way she is expressing herself during a fast-paced runway show or photo shoot. We found out Tess’s beauty regime for staying prepared and looking her best at her shows and photo shoots. “She sleeps very well the night before, washes her hair and always uses a face mask to help keep her skin hydrated and smooth”, then she is all ready to go for the next day. KEEL MAGAZINE is not the first cover where Tess has made her appearance. She has also graced the covers of 5 other major magazines more than a few times. She has

appeared on the cover of “Fotografare” 3 times and the well known “Chic” magazine 2 times. I’m sure we will see her face on many more in the near future. Tess also works as an Art Director and organizes and manages ads for major brands. From the concept, mood board, organization and the communication strategy on social networks, she does it all. With such a background, she fully understands what it takes to be a successful model and businesswoman in this fast-paced world of fashion and beauty. When asked how she would describe herself in one sentence, she gave us one word, “energetic”! No matter how busy Tess may become, she always finds time to be with family and friends which is very important to her. It’s no surprise that she wants to be married and have a family within the next five years. We will check back with her to see how that works out.

Makeup Must be delicate!. If you have been in the fashion business long enough you have seen the makeup artist that looks more like she/he painting a car rather than a human face. Wardrobe Having a good wardrobe stylist is very important, for Tess this means that he/she should have a lot of good contacts with various brands. In this ever-changing business of fashion and beauty, it’s important to work with someone that can keep you looking up to date and aligned with the concept of the shoot.

Written By: Ron Keel

Hair It’s no surprise that when asked about her expectations for a hair stylist that she expected the same as she did from the makeup artist. Basically, as with most professional models who work often, they expect to feel as comfortable as possible during the entire process.

“excepting yourself unconditionally” It’s okay to let go of any fears that may be holding you back. You are just as beautiful, worth it and important, as the person next to you. You don’t have to wear a mask and pretend, you can be yourself. Loving yourself and excepting yourself unconditionally is the key to becoming you. You can make your own dreams manifest. As Alura Cein said, “rise to the challenges of life, you can’t develop a genuine character by avoiding it.” - Bella Abel 30

M

ajeste Amour Pearson is an extremely talented singer/songwriter recently known for her amazing live performance during season two of the hit TV show ‘The FOUR’ which premiered on the FOX network. Majeste wowed the audiences each time she took the stage ready to battle for a seat. Performing in front of the likes of Diddy, DJ Khaled and Meghan Trainor seemed to be very natural. Spectacular, amazing, breathtaking, impressive or captivating, not one of these words in of itself can describe the true experience I had after listening to Majeste Amour sing live on stage. I have to admit, in this world of “autotune” and meticulous voice processing, it’s beginning to get more and rarer to hear a recording artist duplicate a studio work live on stage.

40

Where did Majeste come from? Majeste begins by relating a story of familial talents. It turns out her first introduction to music was most likely from her parents. Not feeling bound by any specific genre, she sites classical, rock, soul and pop as just a few of the ones she loves singing; something we immediately discovered when we searched for her on Google. Majeste is not in any way shape or form your typical artist, her natural talent won’t allow her to be put in a box. With that being said, we realize that even though her performance was seen by over 18 millions TV viewers, you still may have not seen her perform. Well, get ready to hear more of her because “the cat is out of the bag”! Understanding Majeste would be to

understand where she gets her inspiration. When asked, Majeste pointed to such artists as Whitney Houston, Ariana Grande, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Micheal Jackson, Charlie Puth, and Ledisi. There is a certain performance we found of Majeste on the FOUR that puts us in the mindset that Majeste is already on top of her game. When she came on the stage, she was more than ready to sing in front of millions of people very naturally. Though she blew us away with her rendition of “Someone Like You” by Adele, she remained humble. She knew what her purpose was and she didn’t lose focus. What’s next for Majeste, most believe “the sky is the limit” for her. After speaking to her personally, I felt as though I have always known her. Don’t

get me wrong, it was not a “star struck” feeling where one may excuse even negative behavior but on the contrary, a genuine feeling of mutual respect and love. Yes, I said it, love, its written all over her face! Maybe we should stop and give some of that credit to her parents once again. The point of this article is to make clear the type of person and artist Majeste truly is. She really can’t be compared with anyone else. In my strong professional opinion, she will definitely become an iconic figure within the next decade. “During this new chapter in my life, I’m planning to give the world a more evolved version of myself. My hopes are to use my powers, presence, and purpose, to unite through the arts! … I’m working on what I want to represent to all my fans”, she said as the interview ended. Majeste has shown a marked ability to unify different groups of people through her music. Majeste is representing love and perseverance to all of her fans. Her bright smile is infectious. Though Majeste is trying to figure out what she will impart to this generation, one thing is for sure. Majeste will positively impact the lives of millions. To all of the record producers, please slow down with the auto-tune, we now have Majeste and other singers with a lot of natural singing abilities. I knew the day auto-tune was first used in a “live” performance, this may well have been the beginning of the end of the Marvin Gaye’s and Whitney Houston’s of the world. Okay, I will save this subject for another article. I think you all get the point, Majeste is the real deal! We here at KEEL MAGAZINE all look forward to hearing more from her. You can follow Majeste on: Instagram @majesteamour Facebook @majesteamour

“During this new chapter in my life, I’m planning to give the world a more evolved version of myself ” Truly amazing personality vocal ability, her voice is very refreshing and sounds perfect during even the most challenging live performance. Rather there be a few thousand in the audience or 18 million TV viewers, Majeste delivers a powerful performance and truly owns the stage. Ron Kee | Editor in Chief KEEL MAGAZINE

I’m working on what I want to represent to all my fans”

Eva Schubert Singer/Songwriter/Recording Artist

Written by: Mibsam Tesfamariam

E

va Schubert definitely has music under her skin. She has always been fascinated and excited about it, in particular with jazz music. When she was still a little girl, she used to admire her grandfather, who would wear a fedora and listen to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra on vinyl records. He would sing her Louis Armstrong songs, with his strong Hungarian accent. From then on, she fell in love with music and it followed her whole life. Later on, as a teenager, she used to manage to find those cool jazz bars in whatever city she was living in and go listen. She had always been able to write all kinds of things, including poetry. On a particular morning, she was

68

turning over a set of lyrics in her head. Then it happened! She could hear the music in her head for the words she had written. Frantically she ran to the computer to get some free recording software so she could capture the sound before it fled her brain. From that day on it was like a tap had been turned in her brain. She could hear music when she was writing lyrics, or soon after. At this point, she started writing songs at a crazy pace. As a result, she had to get serious about singing in order to deliver these songs to an audience. She has a lot of projects going on right now! After having performed several times in Europe, she’s back in her hometown and is currently working on finish-

ing several original songs. She’s also shooting cover songs on video every month. She has a lot of fun collaborating with many musicians and sharing her talent with the world. Her style of music is mainly jazz, of the classic kind. The sort of songs that Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday might sing. She also dips into other genres like blues and a bit of folk from time to time. You can hear that mix in her second album “Borderless Sky”. Her writing process is really interesting: it begins with a few words only…a phrase that begins to knock around her brain. When she feels the inspiration coming, she knows she has to stop whatever she’s doing, sit

down and write the lyrics and then start playing around with singing them. And from those words, those melodies, she’s able to develop a whole song with all the instruments and lyrics coming through her head one after the other. She’s been playing the guitar for many years and it helps her today create some melodies for her music. She picked it up when she lived in Beijing: It seemed a great way for her to deal with being alone in a foreign city. When she performs, she often plays jazzy songs, such as “They Say” from her second album, and “Hitch” from the first. She thinks both are a lot of fun to sing and lend themselves to very expressive body language. As for covers, “Autumn Leaves” is a perennial favorite of her, and “Summertime” as well. She’s inspired by some of the greatest artists. Amy Winehouse, for example, has been an inspiration for her because of the way she had the courage to disregard what was popular in music and do her own retro thing. She has always liked the sultry jazz vocals of Diana Krall, and she admires the way Jill Barber makes original jazz with a vintage feel. Most of all though, Leonard Cohen’s biography and journey into music was a major part of what put her on the path. Here is her inspiring and motivating message to other artists willing to get into the industry: “First off, you have to do this because

you love music. The experience of making it has to be its own reward. Secondly, stop waiting around hoping to be “discovered”. This is a creative zone and you have to be a self-starter. It’s up to you to create content, find people to work with, deliberately build your network, and continuously improve your abilities, not just in music but in all the other skills around getting it out into the world. Your music is your own responsibility, no one else’s. If you have the gift, you have to put in the work to cultivate it and find ways to get in in front of people. Doors don’t open when you are sitting at home watching other people on Facebook. Doors open when you initiate things and get proactive. If you don’t know anyone you can play music with, or you don’t know the right photographers or producers, you have to go out and find them. Post on craigslist and other message boards. Go to gigs and talk to musicians. Also, be willing to spend a bit of money. No one is going to pay you to do music unless you can demonstrate that you do it well. That means putting content out there into the world. Whether that means video editing software, hiring a camera guy, or paying other musicians to spend time on your project, if it matters to you, put some money behind it.”

ianna Della Sera AKA DelSer Makeup And Modeling, is just beginning her journey through the fashion and beauty industry. As a makeup artist, it has given her the opportunity to understand not only cosmetics products she uses but also the models that she applies them to. This has helped her crossover as a very accomplished model with a slight upper creative hand. Why not, she has what it takes to do both. We are seeing this more often in today’s fashion world. Now living in Arlington, Texas, she has a lot of ground in which she can cover and display her various creative talents in.

or me, inspiration is like my best lover ever: kind of an absolute soul mate. You can share the inner secrets you have and inspiration carries them for you. It carries your emotions in a song, a poem you wrote, a painting... so you can go live your life again without worrying about carrying them yourself. You never have to be ashamed of the emotions you’re feeling: inspiration wants the real you, it loves you when you smile, and even when you cry, as long as you stay true to yourself: it’s by your side.

Mibsy

So inspiration is not the kind of lover you can play games with: it’s a grown one. Will love you unconditionally, but as soon as you start playing games, faking the love or your emotions, it will disappear. The French say: “We have to leave often, to love forever”. Inspiration understands it. So sometimes, without telling, It will leave you for a while, and wait for you to feel again that passion you had in the beginning, to come back to you, and make you the happiest person alive, again. Don’t look for it during these moments: trust it, it knows best when to come back, and it will. Written by: Mibsam Tesfamariam

“beauty comes in a variety of forms”

Jena Magbago

rowing up, I would frequently get bullied at school because I didn’t conform to perhaps what some in society labeled as “beautiful”. Rather, I constantly had oily skin, face sold out to pimples, and really dry unfascinating hair. Thanks to the beauty industry, I have been able to acquire useful techniques and products that have helped me learn to become confident in my own skin. I especially have always admired the runway segment of fashion shows and beauty pageants. It takes a great deal of strength to walk in six-inch heels in front of large crowds, making it look effortless while rocking the runway. Secretly, it’s been a dream of mine to one day be one of the many women who inspires young girls today as they strut in numerous designers’ works of art while simply showing off their beautiful smiles. For what felt like an eternity, I kept my dream from the world because I feared the idea of negative judgment. Finally, I realized that beauty comes in a variety of forms. Today, it’s all about what makes you different which gave me the confidence to enter the fashion industry and pursue my dream of modeling.

aroline Roman, a rising star, has all eyes on her with her edgy new song out, Dark Angel. Roman has been singing professionally since the age of thirteen and has made numerous accomplishments in the past five years that she has grown. With her love for music, she has continually focused on her career, sacrificing a normal high school education, working day and night in the recording studio. From releasing her EP Gold in 2017 to touring with High School Nation both East and West Coast tours, she continues to work hard and do what she loves most. At only seventeen-years-old, Roman has already been featured as Vocalist of the month by Singer Universe, ranked #1 in the Southeastern U.S. as an up and coming music artist by Reverbnation, and has even gone as far as to work with Bravo Ocean Studios. It’s all about the grind and with Caroline Roman’s work ethic, she will continue to progress and go far in her music career. Q. What is your writing process like? A. I usually write my music with the words and the music at the same time. For those not in the music business, that’s

116

called a Topline Writer. I like to do it this way so that the music will take on the personality of the words. I usually just sit down at the piano and start playing some chords. Sometimes I have a title picked out in advance or theme or maybe sometimes just a feeling, but I write from the heart. Q. Can you play a musical instrument? A. Yes, I play the keyboard and piano. Q. Which is more important, the money or the music? A. Five years ago if you would have asked me this question, I would’ve told you that I could care less about the money because it was all about the music. However, over the last five years, I’ve learned that in order to create the kind of music that I want to create there has to be some money behind it in order to be able to attract the best producers, marketers, and PR people. So it is all about the music, but the money behind it is the vehicle in order to create the best possible art.

Madonna, Prince, and Cardi B for a variety of reasons. I like artists who are their own person, you know who they are and they’re not afraid to take risks. Q. What is your personal style of dress? A. I really like comfort in clothing. So you’ll usually catch me in graphic tees, ripped jeans, cool sneakers, hoodies, and sweatshirts, etc. However, I also really love fashion and being able to wear things that are edgy and trendy and very Interesting to look at. Right now though, my favorite thing in the world is to go thrifting for vintage clothing. I have a video

Q. What would your ideal album sound like? A. Edgy/Pop Q. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? A. Well let’s see, five years from now I will be 22 years old so I don’t really see myself in a long-term relationship or with children at that point because I feel that would be way too young. My goal for five years from now would be to have had at least one song have gone platinum and possibly a Grammy win or at least a Grammy nomination. I think in five years from now I will be touring either in the United States or elsewhere, doing my performances in front of large crowds in arena type settings. I also see myself in five years from now mentoring younger artists coming up through the hard path of becoming a musical artist. Q. How much do you depend on social media to expose your work? A. Social media is everything to artists today. It’s kind of strange though because I’m really an introverted person by nature and social media requires you to be more of an extroverted person. It’s kind of bipolar if you think about it because you have this introverted songwriter who now goes live in order to be able to find fence, post pictures and videos, updates, blogs, and news in order to be able to stay connected with fans who love what I do as an introvert so there’s the irony in that. Q. Who or what inspired you to become a recording Artist? A. I gain inspiration from a lot of different artists for a lot of different reasons. For example, I find inspiration in Lady Gaga,

Caroline Roman coming up on YouTube of me going into the Goodwill and pulling out these treasures and repurposing them. Q. Is there anything else you would like to say? A. Please follow me @carolineroman on Instagram! I do answer my DM’s and I do love love love my fans. I will talk to you and become friends with you on Instagram if you reach out to me so please follow me and let’s keep in touch.

P

erfectly imperfect is what true beauty is all about. Even when you are your most individual weirdest self, you are still beautiful. It’s okay to unapologetically stand out at times, that’s what makes us all different. No two people are exactly the same and that’s the beauty of being unique. Out of habit, most of us tend to conform to one trend, one hairstyle, and one song. Maybe we should ask ourselves, “who does society admire the most?” Many admire those who aren’t afraid to speak their minds, take risks, and attract attention from being what people think of as “different”. If complimenting your face with a bold eye look is what pleases you, then wear it; and if dressing up in a fitted leather skirt is what makes you feel confident, then rock it! So, embrace your beauty amongst your imperfections because that is what being beautiful is all about. - Sophia Alexandra

S

inging since the age of four, VELOUR knows how to build up a crowd once she makes her entrance. Being motivated by classical Indian music as a child, she has a unique style portrayed in her singing and songwriting. Today, Velour successfully produces her own YouTube music videos and live shows sharing her passion for the world to see. Social media along with her video channel has been a valuable tool in helping her stay connected with her fans and followers. Velour doesn’t necessarily stick to one genre or style of music just yet. She lets her mood or the “Gig Requirements” dictate which genre or style she chooses to sing her songs in. As she stated during her interview, “Today, the same song can be done in 10 different genres”. Velour is open to a variety of styles which gives her an advantage when performing in front of a different crowd every show. Velour also has a very captivating image that helps draw you into her world even before the music starts. Once the music starts it all comes together as though she was born to sing. Her songs are very rich and meaningful. It’s hard to compare her

singing or piano playing to anyone else since she is so original. If you haven’t checked out her music then you’re in for a treat. As an upcoming artist, Velour feels that it’s important to also perform cover songs because those are the songs that people are familiar with. When asked about her personal writing process, she stated, “I come up with the chords first. And how they would change when you go to chorus or pre-chorus. And then I write the melody. I try to be creative in this process and if something sounds creative but maybe too many notes, I make it either a vocal riff or an instrument part. And I write the lyrics at the end. I come up with a feel or concept. Making the words fit is the last part”. Like most musicians, Velour has established a particular writing process that fits most with her creativity and unique style.

And the reason why he is an artist who is currently in our history books and will continue to be in our books for millennials to come. His artwork, his creations are literary traveling through time, beyond generations, helping & entertaining. I hope to one day, be at that level. As far as musical Icons, I love Geddy Lee and his bass playing. Tori Amos and Beyonce are great performers”. It is clear that Velour sees the creativity in each icon she admires. are not afraid to show their unique qualities when it comes to showcasing their interests. Velour’s individual style is what makes her stand out on and off the stage allowing everyone to see how rare her talent really is. Q. What advice do you have for other singers and songwriters? * A. Your biggest enemy is your selfdoubt and ego. They are two opposite ends of the spectrum. If you have too much ego, you will keep yourself from learning. If you have too much self-doubt, you will give up. Things will get to you. If you stay balanced between these two, you will be successful. oh yes, also, keep having goals which force you to perform in front of people. Gigs, open mic etc. We will see more of Velour soon!

ver the years we have collaborated with various Fashion & Beauty bloggers and have seen them grom from thousands of followers to hundreds of thousands of loyal followers. We chose to write about Agnieszka Klejdysz because we feel that in the next few years her following will grow significantly. Her style is very elegant and classy something needed on social media today. We did a little Q&A that we found to be quite interesting. We will let you see for yourself why she is now one of our favorite emerging bloggers. Q. How do you think you become a successful blogger? A. Most importantly, with love and passion for what you do. Also staying consistent, and staying real with what you create and then the fun will come. Q. How long have you been a blogger?

Opening Doors @ Milan Fashion Week

Emerging Moda - “A decade of helping ideas turn into brands” Photographers: Jim Eisele @fashionfl & Flora Cuzi @the_real_floramc ttending the shows during Milan Fashion Week was no simple feat. What I mean by that was TRYING to attend the shows was the challenge! But that wouldn’t stop our gang of four. Our rockstar team was a necessity weaved together in the fabric of the season. So put on your running shoes called heels and join us as we walk through the doors we opened one by one at the infamous Milano Fashion Week in Italy September 2018.

A

Spoiler Alert! We absolutely conquered every hurdle that came our way. Let’s back up to the beginning of July while sourcing leather for one of my top performing designers, Judy Cummins with Elizabeth Grace Bags (@elizabethgracebags). Leather vendors began to send out last minute invitations

to LineaPelle leather trade show in New York City only two weeks away. Judy was a great sport and hopped on the bandwagon to meet up at the show to fine tune her patterns and dig deep into the multitude of leather options. This is how Door #1 presented itself and we seized the opportunity. So here it was mid July when Door #2 came along. I got to show off some of my Italian speaking skills by chatting with a guest speaker who happened to be the Milan Fashion Week runway scout! She realized I have produced over 90 different brands collections so she extended the offer to come to MFW. Well one sign I should wear on my forehead is, “When I say I’ll do something wild, I will!” I don’t think she thought I’d take her up on

her offer being that MFW was 2 months away and flights and hotels still needed to be booked. She was in for a surprise (literally written all over her face) when my 2 amazing photographers, Judy and myself met her in the hallway of Camera Moda on the morning of the first day of shows. She had a lot on her plate so she didn’t prepare our seating arrangements and left it up to her assistant to squeeze us into some last minute openings. This is when it became apparent that just because you’ve made it through 1 Door doesn’t mean you’ve made it. Thus, we needed to rack our brains to find a solution and fast. Meanwhile the shows had started and important people were scurrying from one show to the next. My photographers were Jim from Florida and Flora from

Milan. They’re both rockstars at the details in the photos, whether it be lighting, crowds of people in the background, clothing adjustments, and fresh angles of the runway, models, shoes and smiles. Jim is great at handling stressful situations and cracking a joke to help remind us it’s not the end of the world in fashion. Another photographer said it best when he called him a 10 out of 10 in his work and skill. www.fashionfl.com He is incredibly good at making the models character come to life. Flora is a great product photographer for accessories such as shoes, bags, and jewelry. She also happens to be a lifesaver at knowing her hometown of Milan and how to travel more efficiently between the many locations on foot, metro or even taxi. www.fashionmilano.eu

That leads us to Door #3 Between Jim’s fashion magazine connections and Flora’s registration knowledge, we beelined it to the grand office in Milano Centrale where all the largest TV networks and press relax to submit their content. The best news of all was to simply hear that if we just pay the registration fee, we’ll have all the show contacts we need to get into the runway scenes. Door #4 was clear when I knew the only way to take us to the next level of show experience was to fork over the cash plus late registrations fees so I bit the bullet and turned a blind eye to the credit card receipt purchase. Soon to find out that a minor detail was missing. Yes, we got all the press contacts we need but needed to call them 6-

The Truth About Milan Fashion Week “I have 1 blister… on each toe” “I’ve gotten 8 hours of sleep… in the last 4 days” “I have a mosquito bite… for each fashion show, I’ve seen” “I spent $23 on avocado toast” “I got 2 new bags… under my eyes”

Briana Linea 12 months ago for confirmed seating arrangements. So we were right back to Jay-walking the outskirts of shows just like the locals. Door #4 did get us into the one and only bougie lounge with our new additions of photography and press passes. Let me tell ya, I felt like I was walking on cloud 9 (except I was actually in painful heels) when flashing my badge past the Italian suited up bodyguards of this lounge. We got to enjoy small hors d’oeuvres for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next 6 days, not to mention the flowing champagne and wine served at any hour. If Judy isn’t bold, I don’t know what she is! Once inside the lounge with a bunch of cool cats, Judy opened Door #5 and took the liberty to make friends across the room with a stud of a writer named Breck Graham, author and founder of Black & Pa-

est known for her role in the Netflix hit TV series Designated Survivor, Graciela Martinez is now on her way to becoming a household name. Graciela is not the typical actress who would say that she always dreamed of becoming an actress. Her situation was very different. She moved to Canada under a contract to work but after two years the contract expired and there was no renewal. She was then told that the only way for her to remain in Canada would be if she went to school there and was able to get a student visa. She didn’t waste any time, soon after receiving this information she grabbed the George Brown viewbook and started looking into every single program they had to offer. At first, she only looked at courses that she really liked reasoning that if she liked the course she would like the program. Her first pick was actually ballet but then she dis-

covered that she would need 7 years prior training to qualify, so that was a no! Then she chose a social worker and theater course. This was perfect since becoming a social worker only required one year. After speaking to her advisor things changed again. Her advisor asked her questions such as, “how good are you at handling other people’s problems” and “especially kids”? After that last question about the “kids”, her career decision was clear, she chose theater! Finally, she could get a visa and remain in Canada. Soon after the course started she switched to film where she found her true passion. Graciela stated, “ for the first time in my life, my heart was fulfilled”. She fell in love with acting!

land, Timothy Busfield, and more. Right then and there she knew she could play in the “big” arena. This is in sharp contrast to her first acting role which was actually doing voice over for History Television.
