The 20212022 school year has ended, and 766 graduates received diplomas signaling the end of their K-12 academic careers. Thanks to our high school administrators for providing their graduates a ceremony to remember. I am incredibly proud of the accomplishments of these students! The Elmore County High School senior class of 105 students was awarded nearly $1.64 million in scholarships. Seven graduates will enter military service, and 43 students are college-bound. Sean Darnell was named Region 3 Bryant-Jordan winner, and Maggie Thames received the Joe Sewell Girl’s Academic Award. Valedictorian was Maggie Thames, and Co-Salutatorians were Jack Atkinson and Emma Brown. The Holtville High School senior class of 106 students earned approximately $3.2 million in scholarships. Thirteen members of this class
will enter military service, and 41 will pursue post-secondary education. The Joe Sewell Boy’s Athletic Award went to Cooper Harrison, and Michael Forney received the overall boy’s Joe Sewell Memorial Award. Valedictorian was Hannah Daniel, and Co-Salutatorians were Michael Forney and Brae Lee Morris Stanhope Elmore High School’s senior class of 223 students was awarded $3.1 million in scholarships. Twenty-nine graduates will enter military service, and 120 students will pursue post-secondary education. The Joe Sewell Girl’s Leadership Award went to Madison McElrath, and Mackenzie Foshee received the Girl’s Church, Community, and Character Award. Valedictorian was Chloe Naquin, and Co-Salutatorians were Raegan Blame and Madison McElrath. The 239 students in Wetumpka High School’s senior class have earned over $4.6 million in scholarships. Six students will enter military service, and 153 students will pursue post-secondary education. Avery M. Thomas received the Joe Sewell Boy’s Leadership Award. The Valedictorian was Julian Vilardi, and the Salutatorian was Adrianna Orsi.
The EDGE, Elmore County’s virtual school, graduated its second class of 93 seniors. Four graduates will enter military service, 57 students will pursue post-secondary education, and 32 students will enter the workforce. The EDGE Valedictorian was Gabriel Brenneman. Our students have taken advantage of a wide variety of course offerings, including Advanced Placement, dual enrollment, and/ or Career-Technical Education courses and are well prepared to enter college or the work force. They have collectively earned scholarship offers totaling over $12.5 million! Congratulations to our graduates and we wish you well in your new endeavors! The end of each school year provides an opportunity to “look behind and plan ahead.” We will reflect and fine-tune to offer our students optimal opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve maximum potential in the upcoming school year!
