nal) Gabaret island (Chain of Rocks Canal) A mostly forested and rocky landscape which was altered by man in the 1950’s excavating bed rock to provide a safe route for traveling barges. The forested landscape is home to wildlife and a great spot for edger fishermen.

al P oint Chain of Rocks Canal Point Hikers can venture to the clearing to watch barges pass through lock 27. The visitor center is located just off to the side of the lock and Army Corps rangers are more then happy to give public tours of the facilities.
