HI THERE! Thank you so much for allowing me the honor of capturing memories and creating beautiful photos for your family. It is my hope that together we craft not only awesome memories but gorgeous timeless images as well. Take some time and read through the following guide. Don't forget to keep in touch with me after the baby is born. I cant wait to meet you, your family and your new bundle of joy

XO Kellyn

CONGRATULATIONS! Fresh 48s are some of my most favorite sessions! I love them because they are just that: pictures of a very fresh and new babe usually done within the first 48 hours of life! Babes change SO MUCH in those first days, so I love being able to capture that brand new goodness for parents and families! The best time for Fresh 48 sessions are during daylight hours, usually in the morning (starting your session between 9am - 3pm (time of the year dependent) usually gives the best light and happiest babe!). I realize sometimes with big siblings/family members/delivery time this Fresh 48 time frame is not always possible, but I will do my best to work with whatever time works for your family and babe.

WHAT TO EXPECT Having a baby is exhausting, exhilarating, and often becomes a hazy memory as you navigate motherhood with this new little person. Fresh 48 sessions aim to capture the emotions you feel during this amazing and impactful moment in your life, so the sessions are documentary in nature. No props or poses, just you and your brand new baby. Hospital lights are awful. They cast weird colors on you and your baby, so I will be embracing your room's natural light! When I arrive, I will open all the blinds to let as much natural light in as possible, turning off those overhead hospital lights and taking advantage of the natural brightness as much as possible (another reason why I like doing these sessions during the bright part of the day). I usually begin with photos of the baby on their own in the bassinet and then head into family photos. Throughout the session I will be guiding you with simple prompts and will do my best to capture all images within 45 mins, ensuring that the session is as easy and stress free as possible. Don't worry if your baby gets fussy and needs to eat, I will happily capture nursing images, or take this time to document hospital room details.

WHAT TO WEAR First and foremost, I recommend wearing something comfortable! Most moms choose a robe yoga pants, and nursing tank top. There is a shop called Pink Blush that I recommend checking out online. They have beautiful floral robes which photograph beautifully. For dads, a t-shirt and jeans aree great. I suggest a neutral, solid color shirt and avoid busy patterns bright colors, and words/logo that may distract from your new baby. Keep things simple and comfortable. Baby only needs to wear hospital shirt, diaper and hospital swaddle I like to keep baby in these items as it best documents their life in thee first two days. If you have a special swaddle or hat you would like to incorporate, I will happly include some images at the end of the session.

BEFORE THE SESSION Below are a couple of things to do before I show up Notify the nursing staff that you will be doing your photoshoot for 45 mins and to please keep interruptions to a minimum during this time Try and feed babe shortly before our Fresh 48 time. This ensures baby has a full belly and will hopefully be happy and cooperative for pics! If you would like any feeding/nursing pictures, we absolutely can do this at the beginning of the session… so hold off feeding babe until I get there and we’ll get some feeding/nursing pics done first! Turn up thee heat! Fresh 48 sessions are usually quick (under an hour typically) and baby is soooooo much happier in a warm environment. This allows for babe to be comfortable for any naked pictures, as seen to the right.

AFTER THE SESSION I want you to look back at these images and feel the weight of your new baby snuggled on your chest, feel the softness of their sweet fluffy hair, and feel thee love for your partner as you watch them sway your baby to sleep for the first time These are the moments I want you to remember. Thank you for trusting me to capture these precious and fleeting moments for your growing family. Within 48 hours I will post a sneak peek on facebook/instagram. Your gallery will be returned within 2-3 weeks if not sooner. You will have the option to purchase additional digital images along with prints and canvases. Directions on what to do will be sent to you with your gallery link and password.

FAQ What happens if my baby doesn't arrive on their due date? Don't worry! Babies rarely arrive as scheduled and I am prepared for early or late arrivals. When you book a Fresh 48 session, weeks 38-41 are blocked off on the calendar meaning that if your little one arrives anytime during this window, I will be available within 48 hours for your session.

Can my older children be in the photos? Absolutely! One of my favorite moments to capture is big brother or sister meeting the new baby for the first time. I suggest we begin the session without older kids in the room to focus on the new baby and then your partner/grandparents can bring them in for the grand introductions.

How do we contact you when the baby arrives? Most of my clients have a list of friends and family they want to contact when the big day arrives, add my name to the list! Once you head to the hospital in labor, have your support person send me a text and then contact me again once the baby is born. Cell : (757) 751-0753

What if baby goes to the NICU? We all try not to think about this happening but in the event there are complications, I will work with you based on what the doctors and nurses recommend! You could opt for a newborn session once you’re settled at home, or a NICU session if hospital policy allows
