A Legal Team Working for You
IT: INFRASTRUCTURE & ACCESSIBILITY IMPROVEMENTS
Richard Capilla
Chief Information Officer
2018 has been a year dedicated to improving and securing our infrastructure, providing our employees with more access to training and supporting our affiliated offices.
In support of our “Vital Few” initiatives, we have expanded our hours in the helpdesk from 7am-6pm and established after hours and weekend coverage for emergencies during extended hours. We have dedicated resources to support our M&A team and have assisted in implementing tools like online appointments. We have improved our infrastructure and replaced equipment in the office to increase performance and uptime of systems like Denticon and QSI, and we are working to decrease the time it takes to resolve associated issues.
For training, we have developed selfguided training modules for Denticon, which are on the LMS to help with onboarding new employees. We have recurring monthly web training for employees who want or need additional training in Denticon or QSI, and we encourage you to take advantage of these resources.
In 2012 I joined DCA as the company’s first internal General Counsel, and it has been my job to lead a talented
David Quigley
General Counsel legal team capable of performing in an evolving growth environment. Our Associate General Counsel, Jessica Savidge, and Legal Assistant, Claudia Rubio, also help carry out initiatives and deliver first class legal services on a daily basis.
Key to serving the business is understanding it, and our legal department is tasked with the knowledge to advise and facilitate our organization’s growth strategy. To function as a strategic business partner, we must be good listeners and be adept at solving complex issues.
A LEGAL TEAM WORKING FOR YOU
Our legal department’s approach is very team-centric, a requirement given the tall order we must fulfill each day. We help our internal clients achieve their objectives while continuing to strengthen our organization’s vision.
DCA’s legal department handles corporate transactions, governance, employment, compliance, litigation management and other areas—and we need to be prepared to handle many matters on a daily basis. Currently, the legal function is focused on providing superior value to its internal clients. This is accomplished by being sought after partners, managing costs, effectively handling transactions and litigation, and developing expertise in growth areas. By doing these things well, our legal team will continue to be at the center of what’s happening at DCA.
We have established e-mail addresses for our providers so that they can communicate with their patients in a way that is HIPAA compliant and secure.
As we look to 2019, we will continue to convert QSI offices to Denticon to standardize our practice management. We will continue to reduce the time it takes to resolve issues and work on providing a secure environment for our practices, our employees and our patients. Your feedback and input is always welcomed and appreciated as we want to help you succeed in 2019.
The time of year is fast approaching where many of us spend time with family and friends over the holidays, reflect on the past year and look ahead to the coming year. I feel privileged to be surrounded by so many passionate employees and dental professionals who support DCA’s mission, vision and values. Thank you to all of our internal clients - may you all have a wonderful holiday season and a happy and healthy New Year!
