Inspiration and Big idea

The photo below is a series of falling leafs.it is also so cool.

The photo above is a falling leaf, I chose it because I think a falling leaf is so beautiful and its structure seems interesting. 4

Outside

Inside

The photos above are took from a shopping mall during the Christmas holiday. They are showing a big christmas tree from in and out. I choose them because I think a kite should belong to the nature too, so a tree might can give me some inspiration. And from the inside of the tree, there is a mirror wall. When the light hits the wall, it makes a beautiful reflex. 5

The First Models The first models that I made just simply used some tapes, sticks and paper. They are really a normal kite and a leaf.

6

This is actually my second model. I was inspired by a series leafs and its shadow to make this model. The different layers and triangle holes also decided the direction of my whole project.

Half Scale model The No.4 model is laid back the the fourth and the fifth layer of the No.3. And it also moves the the second and the fourth layer to the side. Why I make these changes is for the different shadows of the kite and when people look up the kite can see more layers.

Actually this is an unfinished model, I did not put the skin on it because I want to see more of its structure.

Full Scale Model

The No.5 model is a full scale model. The differences from the last one are that I added the skin and more sticks to make the structure stronger.

Final Draft and Drawings This is my final draft. It combined No.3 and No.4 model’s advantages. After testing, I found there’s some balance problem on No.5, so I changed its size and shape. I use the white tracing paper instead of the yellow one to make it more neutral.
