Master Works from the Studio Glass Movement

In the fifty years since the founding of the Studio Glass Movement in the United States, the artists working in this medium have created such a varied range of objects that mounting surveys of this short history has proved to be quite a challenge. Nonetheless, curators from around the world have been doing just that in 2012, presenting exhibitions that seek to capture the spirit and essence of this vigorous movement. I’m proud to add my own voice and vision to that conversation as the gallery presents Masterworks from the Studio Glass Movement, an exhibition that presents many iconic works from the leading figures working in glass since 1962. The exhibition traces the evolution of the use of the media to create sculptural works of art beginning with Harvey Littleton’s ground breaking forms and leading through Dale Chilhuly and Joel Philips Myers to William Morris and Toots Zynsky. Also included are seminal works by Dominick Labino, Mark Peiser, Ginny Ruffner and others. Ken Saunders
