HIROSHI YAMANO Scene of Japan
Hiroshi Yamano’s elegant tableaus depict nature at its most serene and reflective. The artist has described his desire to imbue these works with the essence of the Japanese natural world, especially the rhythms of the seasons. He displays a keen sense for minute detail; from the stamens of the flowers to the tail feathers of the birds, now, the main characters in these dreamy narratives. Hiroshi employs his signature application of metal leaf that is fused to the sides of the vessels to bring a pictorial quality to the work. I am very proud to present Hiroshi Yamano’s fourth exhibition at this gallery and we sincerely thank the artist and his crew for all of their efforts on behalf of this show. Ken Saunders

“My country’s seasons are clearly defined. For the Japanese, enjoying each season is very important. Spring brings cherry blossoms, and summer is the season of water. With fall the leaves become red, and with winter comes white snow. Each season has its own flowers, birds, fishes, and foods. I enjoy the quiet, soft and mellow Japanese seasons. As I walk with my dog along the forest near my home, I experience an inner quiet and fullness. These peaceful moments when I can let my mind wander are dear to me. I want to share these precious moments with others through my new series of works, “Scene of Japan.” I hope you will enjoy them.” Hiroshi Yamano
