Annual Giving 2013-2014 Message from Pamela M. Kapsimalis ’79 Chair, Development Committee Board of Trustees

Dear Friends: On behalf of the Kent Place Board of Trustees, the Office of Development & Alumnae Relations and the Development Committee, I am delighted to present the following report, which mirrors the generosity and support of the entire Kent Place community. This past year has been remarkable for its fundraising achievements. The Annual Fund exceeded last year’s total, and did so with our usual high percentages of participation. Additionally, we met and exceeded two challenge match initiatives: one for $50,000 for the Ethics Institute at Kent Place School and one for the Kent Place New Connections Endowment Fund. The challenge for the Kent Place New Connections Endowment Fund this year was to raise $500,000, but when the dust cleared, we secured an impressive $706,776! Clearly, this is a community of contributors and a generous and committed constituency. We are grateful for the loyalty of our Kent Place family of donors. Because of this kind of support, Kent Place will continue to be at the forefront of independent school education, athletics and the arts and will continue to send its graduates to the finest colleges and universities in the world. Reunion Awards Congratulations to the Class of 2004, winners of the 2013-2014 Gold â&#x20AC;&#x2122;n Greenery Award, for reaching 83 percent participation in annual giving. Congratulations to the Class of 1964, winners of the 2013-2014 Hamilton Wright Mabie Award, for raising $50,000. The Gold â&#x20AC;&#x2122;n Greenery Award is given annually to the reunion class that achieves the highest percentage participation in annual giving. The Hamilton Wright Mabie Award is presented to the class that raises the highest dollar amount. The criteria for the awards include giving to this yearâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Annual Fund or other restricted funds. Both were presented this year during Reunion Weekend. The Campaign for Kent Place School Message from Susan C. Bosland Head of School

Dear Kent Place School Community: Thank you for making our year extraordinary! This year was full of fundraising success because of YOU! Kent Place’s inspiring school mission continues to provide girls, young women and our coed preschool students, a superb educational experience! Our fundraising programs support and enhance this mission – and this year was a particularly transformative year! The Edward E. Ford Foundation awarded Kent Place a matching grant for our Ethics in Action program, which we will be launching next summer. This will be an exciting summer opportunity for teams of teachers and students to come to Kent Place School to learn the ethical decision-making process and to seek solutions and pathways to community excellence using the collaborative design-thinking process. We exceeded our goal in half the time we were allotted! The Kent Place New Connections Endowment Fund, a matching gift challenge for financial aid, was exceeded by more than $200,000 this year. Over the next five years of this challenge, we will have the opportunity to raise a grand total of $2.5 million for financial aid. The original donor family’s vision and generosity, and all of the subsequent gifts, ensure that our financial aid pool capabilities will continue to expand to better support top deserving students to attend Kent Place School without financial constrictions. Our Capital Campaign is gaining momentum. We are in the early stages of a campaign to raise money for construction and endowment. The renovation of the old Middle School building will include new areas for math, visual arts, media, technology, library resources, research, a design and engineering lab and a learning commons. The athletic/ arts building will include a health, wellness and fitness center, as well as renovated areas for physical education, athletics, dance, offices and more. And finally, our Annual Fund exceeded last year’s total! We are so grateful for our high participation percentages across constituencies and overall generosity. Thank you for a great year!

Kent Place New Connections Endowment Fund In 2013, an anonymous donor gave $500,000 to Kent Place with a challenge to raise a matching $500,000 by June 30, 2014. In this first year of the challenge the donor agreed to match what we raised dollar-for-dollar up to $750,000. Thanks to your generous support, we exceeded the $500,000 goal by more than $200,000 thus increasing our Financial Aid endowment by $1,206,000. The donor has now prorated the amount we must raise, over each of the next 5 years, to approximately $60,000 each year until 2019.
