WORLD.THEADVANCEGIRLS.EMPOWER
That’s our new mission statement. Along with the strategic plan in front of you, it’s a ringing declaration of what we stand for and where we’re going.
The strategic plan is the result of a two-year development process, drawing on the wisdom and experience of hundreds of Kent Place community members. It’s grounded in research, refined through multiple rounds of revision, and inspired by the life and work of our students, our graduates, and our faculty and staff.
SIMPLY PUT: WHEN WE EMPOWER GIRLS, WE ADVANCE THE WORLD.
The plan affirms four institutional priorities: learning with purpose, leading with ethics, thriving in community, and investing in one another. These priorities are rooted in the school’s core strengths, enriched by our long history of understanding how high-achieving girls learn best, and deepened by the story that every student brings to our community.
Our new mission statement is audacious. Our new strategic plan allows us to fulfill it and sustain it thoughtfully and collaboratively.
KENT PLACE SCHOOL EMPOWERS GIRLS TO BE ADVANCEETHICALINTELLECTUAL,CONFIDENT,ANDLEADERSWHOTHEWORLD.
Since 1894, we’ve been dedicated to empowering girls. Starting today, we bring new shape and purpose to that work. The results will be transformative for our students and for the world.

THE PLAN
1. LEARNING WITH PURPOSE

Four interconnected priorities that advance our vision and fulfill our mission
2. LEADING WITH ETHICS
We’ll transform academic structures and practices to further develop intellectual leaders who think critically and ethically. Our strategy is to enhance the KPS academic program so that it is relevant and challenging; reflects our expertise in the education of girls; makes connections to local and global issues; and fosters personal identity development that strengthens the capacity to lead.
We’ll advance the Ethics Institute and Girls’ Leadership Institute to become renowned K–12 community incubators for developing ethical leaders who take action. Our goal is to cultivate leadership through practical experiences, research, partnerships, and collaborations in service to the holistic development of girls to lead bravely in any context. Our efforts will serve both KPS and the wider community.
“THE STRATEGIC PLAN was developed by people from across the Kent Place community. It gives us a clear vision of future success. The discovery and development of each girl’s potential will make the world a better place.” Anne Grissinger P ’25
“MY FRIEND TAUGHT ME how to go on the monkey bars on the Challenge Playground. I love being outside with my friends, doing challenging things.” Claire, third grade
Dr. Jennifer C. Galambos, Head of School
4. INVESTING IN ONE ANOTHER
We’ll invest in an enduring culture of philanthropy and stewardship with all constituencies to achieve Kent Place’s strategic priorities now and ensure a bright future for generations to come. Our strategy is to secure investment in the power of a Kent Place education.
3. THRIVING IN COMMUNITY
We’ll prioritize a healthy and balanced school climate in which each member of our community can thrive. We know that wellness is a condition for successful learning and leadership — and seek to cultivate and model it at KPS. We will prioritize the social, emotional, physical, and creative development of our learners in and out of the classroom.
“THIS IS A MOMENT OF TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY. We have an inspiring and actionable road map through four visionary priorities. This is how we’ll stay relevant for generations to come. Tomorrow couldn’t be brighter.”
