In all honesty, after I created the first issue of Kerry Magazine in the fall of 2015 I was worried about creating future issues. Little did I know that the stories, friends, content, and support would just keep showing up. After the second issue came out, I was approached by one of the models, Carly Skerven. Her daughter had recently been diagnosed with Autism. She had shared the magazine with other moms and one of them suggested the magazine feature moms of children with special needs. I loved the idea! I mentioned it at a female entrepreneurs meeting and the owners of The Sparkle Bar said that they would love to offer their services of makeup and glam to the moms. I put the word out for a photographer and Kristina Chartier, who had just moved from San Diego, jumped in happily. The day of the photoshoot was amazing and magical. Everyone became friends.
More magic and friends in this issue: A chef and artist who co-created an illustrated recipe that I think you will love. An empowering poem from a poet who reached out to me wondering if we might be related because we had the same last name. It turned out that we are not, but her work is amazing and it is shared here alongside the awesome avant-garde work of a local artist. If yoga, Airstream trailers, bike riding, and palm trees are your thing then you will love learning how to release stress while on the go. A new artist feature that will get you thinking about creating a theme or word for your year. Lastly, a graphic designer and artist created the worksheet at the end of this issue along with a corresponding printable for the back cover. I look forward to having different artists do this for each issue in the future. I hope you enjoy this issue, the friends you are about to meet, and, most of all, that it encourages you to feel strong and beautiful! Founder + Editor-in-Chief: Kerry Burki

Stronger when we share our story and always beautiful...
moms
Kerry Magazine was asked if we would feature moms of children with special needs. Since this magazine encourages women to feel beautiful, it was pointed out that these types of moms spend so much time focused on others that most of the time they don't feel beautiful. We gathered a small group of moms together for an afternoon of makeup from The Sparkle Bar, a photoshoot with Kristina Chartier Photography, and bonding. Then we asked them to share their stories. Their strength and beauty shine through.
