April 7, 2019 Debs in Christ: YOU DID IT! You have conquered a very important milestone in your life and its time to celebrate. You are among a very elite group of young ladies who understand the value of sacrifice, commitment and training for greatness. Many other young women have completed the Debs in Christ mentoring sessions and are serving their generation with dignity, brilliance and strength. You are now a part of this regal group of world changers and we are super proud of you all. As you step into the next season of our life there will be many joys and challenges. Every crossroad will be an opportunity to apply the wisdom you gained from your mentors in this program. Always remember you are not alone. The Lord has promised to NEVER LEAVE (Hebrews 13:5). Your mentors are always a call away. Your family is cheering you on. Your Deb sisters are on your team. Your church is here for you. Tonight is a BIG DEAL. This Debutante Ball has been planned to mark your formal entrance into society. You are brilliant. You are beautiful. You are confident. You are graceful. You are prepared. Enjoy the evening and leave here determined to maximize your life. WIN! Pastor Robbie and First Lady Robin Davis CELEBRATION CHURCH at Columbia

es, Maria Stewart. May our Debs be fierce and intrepid like Harriet Tubman, who prayed with her feet. May our Debs be spiritual Commanders-in-Chief like the biblical prophet Deborah writing a song and wielding her sword to bring God’s people to victory.

The National Association of Colored Women (NACW) was founded on July 21, 1896 in Washington, D.C. “Lifting A s W e Climb” was adopted as the motto for the movement of magnificent and meritorious women of melanin who understood that in the same way that a candle does not lose its grandeur by lighting another candle, we, as humanity actually rise by lifting others. It makes our hearts leap for joy that such a movement began in a historically African-American religious milieu and the Debs in Christ are carrying the baton of lifting their generation as they climb the mountain peaks of personal and communal progress with CELEBRATION CHURCH as their haven of love and legacy.

May they be national and political Commanders-inChief like Queen Nanny of the resistant African Maroons during the slave trade and Queen Hatshepsut of the greatest empire of any peoples in the history of humanity, Ancient Kemet and like future President Kamala Harris and should-be Governor of Georgia, Stacey Abrams. May they be as regal as Michelle, as royal as Princess Markle, as unstoppable as Serena, as Godly as Chief Mentor Doris Davis, as heavenly as First Lady Robin Davis and as uniquely perfect as the queen of my universe, Rhesa Praisejah Quainoo. May they become all who God has called them to be in Jesus, their Christ, their Lord, their Savior, and soon-coming King (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). We are so proud of our girls!

The NACW’s first President, Mary Church Terrell, a heroine of love and a drum major for justice, said: “My sisters stand up not only for the oppressed sex, but also for the oppressed race. May the Debs lead us in her legacy of defending #beautyandbrilliance “people over profits” in the words of another love WINYOUNG! warrior and freedom fighter, Dr. Angela Davis.

2019 Debutantes, It has been truly an honor and a privilege to have mentored, laughed and learned from each of you over the years. I have watched you grow physically and spiritually to be young women set apart for the Glory of God. I am so proud of how you have embraced and applied the Word of God in your lives.

Patricia Washington Debs in Christ Ministry Leader

I have seen your challenges and accomplishments. I’ve also seen how you responded to them. Your choices have honored God and to God be the glory! As you walk into your season of womanhood, hold on to your Debs in Christ godly principles: faith, love, forgiveness, chastity, self-awareness, empathy, commitment and community (giving back) just to name a few. Reflect on the woman of the Bible that you admire and inspires you. Apply the precepts of being a godly woman in all that you do. Continue to keep each other lifted in prayer and study the Word of God so that you can share it with others. I’m so happy to have been a part of your journey so far, this is just the beginning! Love you, Sis. Pat

“We should always have three friends in our lives. One who walks ahead who we look up to and follow; one who walks beside us, who is with us every step of our journey; and then, one who we reach back for and bring along after we’ve cleared the way.” ~ Michelle Obama

Our Prayer

Lord, I thank you for the abilities you have given me. Where I am lacking in social and life skills, help me to grow and improve so that I might live my life according to your will. I ask that you open doors of opportunity for me to use my skills and close doors that I am not to go through. Give me wisdom and order my steps. I commit my life to you. Lord, knowing you will establish it. May it always be that I love the work I do and enable me to do the work I love. Establish the work of my hands so that what I do will find favor with others and be a blessing for many. May my works always be glorifying to you. Amen.

Our Pledge

As I enter into this season of womanhood, I pledge before God and man to uphold the principles and values taught to me by my parents, church, extended family and Christian friends. I promise to present myself each day with confidence and grace to all that I encounter as I seek to be carried to new levels of purpose and understanding. I promise to Stay faithful to God, my family and my sister Debs. I choose this day to submit to God. As I continue this journey, when I am tempted, I promise to resist and look to the hills from whence cometh with my strength. I am a living Sanctuary, I am a Deb in Christ!

Blaire,

Thus far you have broken records and united people in love. Your love for people and willingness to work hard with a smile on your face is the beginning of a woman set to fulfill her purpose! Here are a few things we want you to remember: 1. It may not always be as simple as you think – it’s just like when you first decided to run track… you thought you were just running but you were doing more than that. You were pushing your body to its limit and achieving its highest speed. You were carrying the pressure of your team as you completed your portion of the relay. 2. You are never alone –You, Ms. Blaire, are the latest piece to the Ridgely puzzle! And a piece of a puzzle is never alone, it is always connected in more than one way! 3. Peace requires action – You will have to work hard for what you achieve, you will have to walk blindly, at times, trusting God when it seems like it is the hardest thing to do. Remember that peace is on the other side of sharing your gifts, talents and walking in your purpose. Sincerely, ~ Your Fitness Aunties

To My Little Blaire Bear: Congratulations on your Debutante in Christ Achievement! I encourage you to continue to dream big! In the words of Olympic Gold Medalist, Jesse Owens, “ We all have dreams, in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline and effort.” I will also add that you must have FAITH IN GOD! Now that’s a winning combination. Stay the course! Love, Auntie Cheryl & Family (Hailing from Atlanta, GA)

It has been a true pleasure to see you grow and blossom into a wonderful young lady of God right before my eyes. To have you now be a part of the coaching team and help minister to and lead the children in our ministry, almost brings tears to my eyes.
