At a time when British cooking has never been more varied, inspiring or of such high quality, this series will test the real-life expertise of truly great home cooks and will celebrate the food people make for their loved ones every single day. Mary Berry is returning to her first love; with more than 75 cookery books to her name, her authority in the home kitchen is beyond question and she is the natural choice for the lead judge. Taking the reins as host is Claudia Winkleman. A search for a second judge is underway. They will be joining Mary to help hunt out those whose talents, until now, have been hidden away. Mary Berry says “I am never more at home than when I have my judging hat on. This series is going to encourage proper home cooking which I have always championed and I cannot wait to start. Claudia, for me, is the icing on the cake.”

Strictly Come Dancing to pay tribute to Sir Bruce Forsyth When you think of Strictly, thoughts of Sir Bruce were never far behind. They went together hand in hand and were a perfect fit for Saturday night television. So it’s no surprise to learn that the BBC are planning a special tribute for their dearest friend who passed away last month. Louise Rainbow, the executive producer for the show announced on Twitter:

‘The thoughts of everyone here at Strictly are still very much with Sir Bruce's family. Of course, we will be paying tribute to Sir Bruce at our launch show and this will include a heartfelt performance from our Strictly professional dancers. We all want to celebrate him and all that he loved about the show. Sir Bruce was, and always will be, a huge part of Strictly Come Dancing.’ The TV veteran sadly passed away aged 89 after suffering poor health in his later years. Sir Bruce had not attended high-profile public events since 2015 as his health began to decline. Earlier this year, he was hospitalised with a severe chest infection and spent over five days in intensive care, before returning home. He will be sadly missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to Winnie his wife, his family and all of his many, many friends after a lifetime in Theatre and Television.
