A Virtuous Virgo

One could describe Virtuous Virgo Clive Myrie, the new host of mastermind, as a master at overcoming challenge. His beginnings were similar to many Jamaican immigrants; his parents had to adjust to a cold, grey climate and a lifestyle peppered by racist comments and hard graft. One imagines a song on his mother's lips when she looked into her little Clive's eyes, no matter how many needles she had to thread. She was a seamstress in Bolton and he was one of her seven offspring. The lovely lady probably hoped her Clive would grow into a future Whizz kid but could not have predicted he would graduate from the University of Sussex with a Bachelor of Law Degree and go on to become a media star. Clive was soon earmarked as a bright spark at school. He learned to play the trumpet, was great at sports, he loves "the beautiful game" to this day, and was nominated deputy head boy; he never let it go to his head! When he applied to join the BBC, someone important must have spotted his talents and ensured he trained as a local reporter. He soon morphed into an onthe-spot war correspondent in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq, going on to stand his ground whilst reporting on the Nepal earthquake, Trevor MacDonald was his guiding light, and like the master newscaster himself, Clive never avoided harsh realities. After all, Clive had to face more than a few. Even when his life was threatened by a far-right extremist and he received a card in the post containing racist abuse and images, he never let torment "rain on his parade". This is a guy "who knows the stuff of prejudice," after all he was awarded the Bayeux-Calvados Award for reporting on ethnic violence in Borneo. He is ready to be attacked on all sides for his take, his charisma his choices. But he is the first to stand firm in the midst of criticism, Virgo style.

Picky Pisces In fact, with that picky Sun in Virgo and super sensitive Moon in Pisces, Clive does not pat himself on the back notwithstanding all his achievements. He is Mr. SelfCritical. This is a guy who does not appear to have noticed he has become a "seriously good journalist!" Clive is probably a closet mystic too; his astro shows a deep side; a spiritual element to his character proved by his addiction to Bach cello suites and the fact he was sensitive enough to learn to play the violin at school. He claims his upholsterer wife Catherine, like his mum, a dapper hand with the needle, encouraged him to claim his dreams. Perhaps she is the power behind his throne a woman who can see through "the game of life" and encourage personal evolution notwithstanding the challenges of a society that needs to learn about tolerance. But then some people might claim it was always Clive who "got the picture", first, even when he was in nappies. Maybe he remembers that time in heaven before he incarnated, you know, when a big angel handing him a blue print saying "this time you have got to do it!" A significant Saturn aspect hammered home hard lessons when he was just a happy kid growing up in Bolton; a kid who wanted to be a journalist at the age of nine. Mr S would have ensured he planned a defined course of action. He learned how to be shrewd in play school, how to appear happy go lucky as he kept himself to himself. He made sure he had enough space to express his ideas. He trusted his inner world.

Saturn probably ensured moral standards, and later a commitment to his fellow man as he held forth on our TV screens.

The media world recognised his "versatile, measured and compelling style". RTS Television recently named him "Journalist of the Year" maybe because, as he said, "he is not a robot reading an autocue!" He not only reports the news, he checks into his humanity and self-awareness to deliver it. A well friendly Venus shows a compassionate, sensitive side to his nature. A capacity to adore his loved ones full on. Ms. Venus also encourages his "hail fellow well met" attitude. Mars, on the other hand, regenerates his life, even when he is at his lowest ebb. He looks at a glass half full. He celebrates others' achievements, as well as his own. However, he is the first to admit that the BBC who he is so proud to work for, needs to "up its game!" when it comes to clarity when delivering the news.

A Lucky Star

After calculating that his sun is probably in the twelfth house, one can only deduce he was born under a lucky star. He literally bursts with vitality: his magnetic aura drawing the right people to him, folks who want to help him climb the ladder of success and use his talents to the fullest. He is not without faults. Sometimes he is a hard nut to crack, he can be stubborn, he can seem distant when dealing with emotional issues and conflicted loved ones. But it has to be faced, some people are touched by the Gods and others reach the pinnacle of success without even knowing how they got there. He knows how he "got there", but also acknowledges the Gods are on his side.

This highly intelligent and knowledgeable man, a “dude” who overcame challenge and stood for his ideals, is indeed a Master of the Mind; but above all of the Heart ...
