LIBERTY BLOCKS
Located in Liberty Village, this building aims to maintain the connections that were originally there within the market area while simultaneously creating new axis of interaction with a series of ramps that cascade down throughout the building, culminating in two focal nodes, the main galleria and the market. The form is derived from a redistribution of mass that maintains the view from the surrounding buildings, and a play of shifting forms back and forth that clearly defines each portion of the building. Each shift creates a public area at different levels of the building and creates opportunity for interaction and exploration. An action of weaving, formally and socially.

PONTE TUSCOLANO
This project aims to act as a catalyst to connect the periphery of Rome with the rest of the city and create a community environment. It is designed to accomodate a large number of incoming peoples to the city and provide the necessary community functions as well as the required social spaces in the form of towers and open public space within the elevated podium. By elevating the podium off the ground, it maintains the existing condition between the city and the park, but it also adds points of interest that will increase traffic into and around the area. The site can be visualized as a series of layers: the open expanse of the public ground plane, the structural clarity of the circulation, the elevated residential podium, the system of towers, and the semi-public space that ties the masses together.

CHAIR FOR MARK TWAIN A Mark Twain is a Mississippi term meaning the second mark on a line that measured depth. It signified two fathoms, or twelve feet which is the safe depth for a steamboat to pass through. This chair designed for Mark Twain reflects his love of being a pilot on the Mississippi for he adored the profession far better than any that have followed since. He could sit on this chair on a sunny day while bathing under the sun, rocking gently on the chair with his eyes closed. A mix between a garden chair and a hammock, it evokes the gentle current of the Mississippi, transportaing himself back to a time piloting a steamboat once again.

A FORTRESS
The wall shelters and protects. It is the continuous element that ties everything together. Though the exterior appears cold and tough on the outside, the interior is soft and warm, bathing in light. The wall not only shelters from the elements, it also provides warmth and conditioning for the spaces. It is the spine, structurally and in terms of system infrastructure for the whole complex. The south wall begs for light to be let through, but it must fulfill its purpose in protecting its inhabitants, allowing its counterpart to open up into the courtyard and catch the sun’s rays throughout the day.

SPROUT HYDROPONIC Sprout is a project that addresses the growing costs of food due to shipping and the environmental damages as a consequence. By keeping food close to home, it reduces costs as well as providing fresh food for the user. The aquaponic system keeps maintenance simple and human intervention is minimal. Future thoughts will consider various materials, size, and internal systems to try to reduce the cost even further. An app to help monitor the whole aquaponic system is also in development. The entirety of the Sprout garden can be condensed into a single package, allowing for easy storage and shipping. The entire aim is to be a cheap and portable alternative to other hydroponic systems on the market. The simple method of construction is easy to assemble and disassemble, the entire process taking less than 20 minutes.
