I
f there has one thing that has dominated the mortgage market in recent years, it would have to be: change. Whether it was the COVID-19 pandemic, the switch to remote work, or the recent surge in inflation and interest rates, the market has been constantly evolving: and the same has been true for Mortgage Introducer. Since the 2021 edition of the Scottish Mortgage Awards, held in October, Mortgage Introducer has been acquired by Key Media International, making it part of a global publishing powerhouse. As such, tongues were naturally wagging ahead of the 2022 Scottish Mortgage Awards in partnership with Barclays, around what would change. Well, familiarity ruled the day. Once again, the event returned to The Balmoral in Edinburgh, the food was as sumptuous as always, and Fred MacAulay, our resident comedian, was on-hand to lighten the mood among those nervously wondering if they would walk away with one of the much sought-after prizes. By the end of the proceedings, however, whether they walked away with top honours or not, there was a feeling of joy, positivity and unity – that in an industry where so many of us are, in theory, competitors, we can all unite and share wonderful experiences together. We are stronger when we’re together. This was further emphasised by the support of our exceptional event partners – including Barclays and platinum sponsor, Mortgage Advice Bureau.
