have very dry, badly damaged hair or curly, frizzy hair. It will leave your hair straighter, smooth and really shiny for 8 to 12 weeks. HOW IT WORKS Keratin treatment is formulated to contain natural Keratin and protein. We use straightening irons to lock the Keratin in to your hair and smooth down the cuticle. As this procedure does not damage your hair at all, you can repeat it every three months. CAN I STILL COLOUR MY HAIR? Yes you can, as long as you use the correct shampoo and conditioner. With Keratin treatments you must use sulphate-free shampoo and most chemists are starting to sell them now as Keratin treatments have become so popular. Also salons that do Keratin treatments all sell sulphur-free shampoo. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? Depending on the length of your hair – around two hours. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Again, depending on how long your hair is, we charge 40 euros for short hair, 50 euros for medium length and 60 euros for longer hair. If you would like more information about any of the services we offer, please contact Tracy or Amy for your free consultation.

KEY BEAUTY Beauty Tips from Marbella Beauty Academy Skin Sun damage is one of the fastest ways to age skin. Premature wrinkles, pigmentation and dry, flaky patches can all result from too much sun exposure – and it doesn’t have to be the height of summer for harmful rays to get to your skin. While we all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun on holiday, many women don’t factor an SPF into their daily skincare routine. Even winter sun can be harmful to skin, with skincare specialists suggesting we wear at least 15 SPF on our face all year round. A new trend in sun protection is taking a supplement to provide an SPF as well as vitamins and minerals. The benefit of using a supplement rather than cream is it reaches those tricky places that can be hard to reach, such as earlobes and the scalp. Colladeen Visage, £18.95 for 60 tablets - These beauty pills have a built-in SPF of 10, as well as vital wrinkle-busters. As it’s a lower SPF, it’s recommended a cream is used on the face as well. Boost your protection There are a number of ways to incorporate sun protection into your daily skincare routine. Wearing an SPF under your usual moisturiser is one option. Choose a light, oil-free formula to ensure it doesn’t provide too heavy base for foundation. Many SPFs come with additional benefits for skin, so make the most of yours by choosing one with anti-oxidants that will also protect from free radicals and pollutions. Vitamin C creams and serums have an amazing effect on fading pigmentation marks, as does taking milk thistle, a supplement usually

taken to cleanse the liver. Hoorah, there’s a new skin saviour in town. Micellar Water was originally almost solely sold in France and was a staple product for French women for years. It rapidly became a cult product amongst Make-up Artists and Beauty Experts. So here’s the low down. Micellar Water is a soft water-based cleanser with tiny molecules of oil suspended within it – this formula then works to break down dirt and makeup and removes it, even waterproof mascara! As well as being a cleanser, it also acts as a toner so is great for those on the go or those who prefer a simple, quick but effective regime. It looks and feels like water, is alcohol and soapfree, making it suitable for all skin types even those with sensitive skin, and befitting to use on eyes. Bioderma is the leader, but difficult to find in the shops, Vichy and L’Oreal have brought out their own versions. Hair There are many protective serums and sprays on the market to protect the hair from sun damage, but wearing a hat and remembering to wet hair thoroughly before swimming in chlorine are also important tips! Diet At MBA we are raving about the benefits of Black Garlic! Garlic has a great reputation for being a great immune booster but black garlic, THE trendy new clove, contains double the amount of antioxidants plus compounds that lower cholesterol and decrease the risk of cancer. No need to avoid garlic on that hot date, this sweet clove has no bad breath after effects!

KEY HEALTH The Food Trap
By Chris Weir, Sonrisa
There is nothing more irritating than getting food trapped between your teeth. It causes a nagging, annoying pain and leads you to poke and prod at it with any sharp object you can lay your hands on. You are compelled to persistently poke away until you have removed that offending piece of fibrous meat. If you frequently get food trapping between your teeth, this can lead to decay, inflamed gums and periodontal pockets and eventually bone loss and possibly tooth loss. The causes: 1. poor marginal contour of fillings 2. crowns and bridges that don’t maintain a good contact point with the adjacent teeth 3. drifting of teeth 4. over erupting teeth 5. periodontal disease 6. broken tooth or lost filling Remedy: 1. With fillings it is possible to replace the filling and rebuild a good contact with the next tooth to close off the gap and stop food lodging between them. 2. The poor fitting crown is more problematic. You can’t alter the crown, unless you replace it with a new crown, but if the next tooth is not crowned you can close the gap with filling material. If the contact is crown to crown you will need a new crown. If you don’t stop the food trapping, you will probably get decay under the crown and lose the tooth. 3. Sometimes teeth will drift and leave a small gap
12
KEY TO MIJAS COSTA
which will allow food to stick between them and cause pain and discomfor t. You can usually close the space with filling material. 4. Often when teeth are extracted little thought is given to the long term implications of leaving a gap. The main concern is the relief of pain. But often the opposing tooth (the antagonist) will start to erupt into the missing tooth space. The tooth will continue to move until it has contact with another tooth or the gum. This leads to the loss of its contact point thus creating a potential food trap. If left unchecked, this usually leads to the loss of another tooth. 5. Advanced periodontal disease is characterised by receding gums, bone loss, gaps between the teeth and mobility (loose teeth). With receding gums and bone loss you get exposed root surfaces with no enamel to protect them. These surfaces are much more prone to decay and teeth will rapidly deteriorate, with pain and tooth loss the most likely result. Patients with advancing periodontal disease need to maintain a high standard of oral hygiene and require regular visits to the dentist or hygienist for scaling and polishing of the teeth to preserve their oral health. 6. A broken tooth or lost filling can lead to food lodging in the gap, causing pain and decay. The remedy is simple, get the tooth or filling repaired before the damage gets worse. Conclusion: Don’t leave it until it’s too late (a stitch in time etc). Visit your dentist and fix the problem now and save yourself a lot more pain and suffering.

KEY HEALTH Get in Shape with Bio-CLA + Green Tea Fight body fat and increase lean muscle mass naturally. The most important aspect of your weight is how it is distributed. Muscle has a greater mass than fat, so someone with a firm, toned body may well weigh more than someone with more fat. How much of your weight is muscle or fat can dictate how you appear. Bio-CLA TM + Green Tea may help you lose body fat and tone up, particularly as part of a programme involving a healthy diet and physical exercise. Clinical studies suggest that Bio-CLA TM + Green Tea can be used in the following ways: • To increase the release of fat from fat deposits • To inhibit fact accumulation in fat deposits • Use in conjunction with sliming treatments What is CLA? CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is an essential fatty acid, one of a group of substances that are an indispensible part of a healthy balanced diet. CLA is converted within the body into hormone-like substances that help regulate the balance of muscle tissue and fat. What is Green Tea? There is scientific evidence that Green Tea extract can inhibit absorption of fat from the digestive tract, reduce blood lipid levels, activate fat burning and increase energy expenditure. Green Tea is also high in flavonoids and catechins, offering a powerful antioxidant defence against free radicals. Do you ‘Yo-Yo’? The most soul-destroying aspect of many diets is rapid weight loss followed by increased weight gain when you begin eating normally, followed by more weight loss and so on. Many slimmers continue this ‘yo-yo’ effect for years. This is because calorie controlled diets reduce fat and muscle mass. The less muscle you have, the lower your metabolism. Therefore you can burn less fat once you resume your normal diet. How much Bio-CLA TM + Green Tea do I take? 2 capsules to be taken with food 3 times daily (total of 6 capsules per day). Are there any adverse effect? Diabetics and people with hypertension should seek professional advice prior to taking Bio-CLA TM + Green Tea. Not to be taken alongside ephedrine without advice from a physician.
By Anni’s Vital Shop
Pregnant or lactating women should consult a doctor before taking nutritional supplements. Who may benefit from Bio-CLA TM + Green Tea? • People seeking help to reduce fat absorption and activate fat-burning in the body. • Those looking to support the effects of a healthy diet and exercise regime. • Slimmers who want to avoid the ‘yo-yo’ effect. • Anyone who wants to increase polyphenol and flavonoid intake for overall heath. FACT – Taking Bio-CLA TM + Green Tea 3 times a day with food is the equivalent of drinking 18 cups of Green Tea!

KEY HEALTH Younger Looks – Naturally
By Anne Stark
Would you like to lift, firm and tone facial muscles without surgery or toxins? The patented Baxendale wave form used in Genie Complete is up to 1,000 times stronger than any other wave form of its kind. Don’t be fooled by “imitations”. The Baxendale patented wave form is ONLY created for Genie Complete. This miracle treatment is called Take Ten. The essential feature is that the Take Ten delivers an output close to the natural “firing” of muscles. It produces an electrical exercise in a controllable way which reshapes the muscle over the period of use. This aids in the building of muscle mass which ultimately helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Power exercises are carried out over a short period and are intense, holding muscles in contraction. This is how body builders and weight lifters train to build muscle mass and power. This is how Genie Take Ten works. As we get older muscles shrink, causing surrounding fat and tissue to take on a drooping appearance. With exercise and the right diet we can generally keep our bodies in shape but the facial muscles are more difficult to exercise until now. When the facial muscles begin to shrink, the drooping effect on the face can be really ageing. By rebuilding the ageing muscle mass to its previous state, the face is fuller and benefits from a visible lift which can be retained with regular treatments. This fuller, healthier look also helps to eliminate many lines and wrinkles. The Genie Take Ten is a perfectly natural way to exercise facial muscles because we are “power” building. A ten-minute treatment is sufficient to achieve all that is possible in one session. For 24 hours after a treatment the muscles are still working and re-generating. A course of treatments over 4 or 5 weeks should be sufficient for most people to achieve the desired effect. A top-up treatment is recommended every 3-4 weeks but more frequent treatments are perfectly safe if you so wish. Are you ready for the challenge? Join a growing number of men and women who have discovered the secret of Take Ten by Genie Complete. Would you like to kick start losing weight or your toning regime? No matter how much you need to lose or tone, the results are amazing. Genie Slimming and Toning Treatments are different from any other machine. Once again, don’t be fooled with imitations. In any regime diet is important. I can help you to choose the right one or if you want to try 2 Herbalife meal replacements plus complete dinner or any other kind of regime, this will accelerate your results. You are welcome to have a trial treatment and discuss what will suit you best. With my expertise and experience with Genie Complete your results are guaranteed. I welcome you to join the many satisfied customers who find Genie treatments excellent.

KEY HEALTH Choosing a Therapist
By Pat Kaines
With so many therapists here on the coast it is very difficult to know which one to choose. Word of mouth is always a good start, but it is also important to check the Therapist’s qualifications. Do they attend regular refresher courses? Do they keep abreast of the latest developments in their field? Do they have Public Liability Insurance? Here in Spain, many therapists don’t bother with insurance. Ask yourself, what would happen if an incident occurred during your treatment or even worse, you had a bad reaction after the treatment – what rights would you have? Does your therapist be-

KEY HEALTH What to Expect When You Visit an Osteopath for the First Time
By Chris Howard
In this edition we will look at what to expect when you visit an osteopath for the first time. (The information in brackets represents only a few examples in each case). Osteopaths follow a code of confidentiality so everything about your health and life history remains private. The first appointment can be up to an hour and is separated into various parts the first of which is general information gathering. Within the first minute or two of meeting, an astute osteopath will have observed things like your gait, posture, handshake, which side you favour or weightbear on, what type of movements you avoid, your manner of speech and general posture etc. (for present pain, past injuries or trauma, any evidence of neurological deficit, weakness and coordination, Parkinson’s disease, previous mild strokes, depression etc). An osteopath can also get information just from the appearance of your face and hands (including things like osteo or rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid dysfunction, anemia, heart and liver problems, hereditary syndromes and diseases and so on).
tient’s discomfort (i.e. if you have headaches to the top or back of your head or on both sides or just on one side can have very different diagnosis and this will affect the osteopath’s thought process and type of further questioning and examination that follows. The next part is general questioning (it’s not as bad as it seems!) Your history of accidents, operations, illnesses, medication, investigations (x-ray etc), previous treatments, stomach, heart and lung problems all help to get an overall view of your present state of health which is then followed by a physical examination (posture etc.) where the osteopath gains new information and helps to prove or disprove the “diagnosis” he/she has started to formulate from the first part of the information gained.
Once as comfortable as can be (some patients can’t sit or stand very well when they first arrive!) the second part begins where personal details are recorded and questions about your work (standing or sitting for long hours, driving to visit clients, using machinery or the computer, amount of time on the phone, level of responsibility and stress etc) and hobbies, sports and relax time (walking, golf!, gardening, watching TV etc) all help to give the osteopath a good insight into what sort of things your body has been going through on a daily basis. The next part is the differential diagnosis or “nitty gritty” of the reason why the patient is seeking help, relief and advice. (Where and what type of problem/ pain or discomfort is it, - sharp or dull, - episodic or constant-localized or general - how long have you had it - when and how did it start did it start suddenly/accidentally or appear over time for no real reason - have you had it before - what aggravates or relieves it - does it affect your sleep – does medication help etc.). This is where the osteopath is starting to evaluate the patient and beginning to construct a “working diagnosis” and beginning to think about what they may like to examine further (i.e. neck range of movement, or blood pressure etc) to prove or disprove some possible explanations for the pa-

KEY FEATURE Dario and David Meet Amsterdam I’m happy to inform readers of Key magazine that once again I am doing what I enjoy best, working on a new musical project with David Mairs, the Costa’s favourite musician and entertainer. As some of you may recall, a few years ago by using the power of music, I began the Marbella campaign, in order to counter the increasingly negative international media propaganda directed against the Costa del Sol especially Marbella, so I wrote the music to the song “Marbella Marbella” that became the campaign’s anthem. From almost its initiation, David Mairs joined me and generously gave his help and time, to do his bit for the Costa promotion and helped create the first musical arrangement. We received much media coverage for our efforts including TV, radio and the press, not only in Spain, but abroad, reaching as far as Scotland, Austria, Germany and Scandinavia with excellent performances of the song from Samantha Mairs, Alan de Ward and Yanela Brooks. Following that, we produced a song titled “Corazón” that is the music for the UNESCO Recognised charity The Children for Peace ONLUS, based in Rome “Corazón can simply be described as a superb and most appropriate ‘anthem’ for The Children for Peace Charity; memorable, upbeat and inspiring, rolled into one. Congratulations!” – Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, Tenor. Later, David provided them with another catchy song to support their important much needed work, titled “You’re Beautiful” “A hit waiting to be discovered” was one comment; both songs praised by Debbie Mace and Lamia Khashoggi, the President and Vice-President of the prestigious charity and featured on their website. To date, our most audacious and multifaceted creation is a new musical work that is based on the vibrant City of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The story links two cities, Mar-

bella and Amsterdam, in a complex tale of romance and adventure, with music as a pivotal ingredient to the narrative. We have been working steadily on this project; the overture and all the songs are completed and registered and it’s already receiving interest from connections in Holland who are intrigued to know more, so it is likely, that in the not so distant future, we will be visiting Amsterdam to discuss this production with the relevant professionals. Interestingly, Amsterdam is where my musical drama “Lady X and The Power of Destiny” (loosely based on the late Princess Diana) is legally represented, and recently back in contact with me, is Eric Holzhauer, the Dutch owner of Radio Sun FM who supported my campaign and regularly played the Marbella song writing; “Let’s make your song the official song of Marbella.” Strange that we have now come full circle and are in contact with Eric and Amsterdam again; the unforeseen twists and turns presented in life never fail to amaze me. Well I am certainly looking forward to my next trip to the beautiful architectural City of Amsterdam, famed not only for its enormous artistic contribution, but for a myriad of bridges overlooking the winding boat-filled canals, coffee shops; the profusion of tulips and the plethora of bicycles parked or with cyclists spotted interweaving calmly through its picturesque streets, as spellbound tourists, amazed by the diversity of images looming before their eyes, try with digital cameras, to capture all the scenic magic they can of this charming renaissance capital. I too yearn to inhale the huge cultural legacy of this fascinating City, by presenting from David and I a modest, arty contribution to its legacy, created, packaged and dispatched with “Corazón” from the warm pulsating heart of the Costa del Sol. www.marbellamarbella.es

At the end of their second day they reached Torrenueva, a place that is close to their hearts as they used to have a water sports business on this beach for ten years. They slept on the beach and set off the next morning for Benalmadena. They arrived in Benalmadena at 1.30 p.m. on 22nd July, just in time for lunch.

KEY FEATURE New Season at the Salon Varietes After the summer holiday the Salon Varietes Theatre in Fuengirola opens again on September 2nd with some big changes. Some are still being tested and worked through and you can keep up to date on the website, www.salonvarietestheatre.com or the Facebook page or best of all by writing to svfuengirola@ gmail.com to be put on the newsletter list. So what changes? Box office Brian, as he is affectionately known, has retired after many years of sterling work. Amazingly in over 20 years he has never seen a show at the theatre, as he has always been busy tidying up the box office after curtain up, so we wish him many wonderful evenings at the theatre now. He has been replaced by Sarah-Jane Gale who will also continue as a stage manager so will be assisted by Sandra Lillywhite and Helen Tomlinson. The exciting news is that we are acquiring a new computer and will be rolling out a computerised booking system with internet booking. Training starts soon for the Box Office staff (and the newsletter writer!) so keep an eye open. The box office will now stay open until 2.30 but will only be open in the evenings in show week. Our first show of the new season is a visit from ‘Encore’ the Three Tenors on Friday September 6th at 8.00. They are a very successful cabaret act appearing at a number of venues this

summer but the theatre gives them an opportunity to stretch their talents over a longer show and gives the audience a chance to hear some beautiful songs with good acoustics and without the clatter of glasses and the chatter of neighbours. They are followed by a rather naughty play called ‘Dirty Dusting’. This is not for those of a delicate disposition. The production comes to us from ITS in Marbella and when one of our Board members saw it, the audience were in hysterics. So, very, very funny and very risquè. Discretion advised on Friday September 13th and Saturday September 14th at 8 and Sunday 15th at 7.00. On the following Sunday, the 22nd we have another visit from The Rat Pack, a very popular show the last time they visited. Then on the 29th the two sensational voices of Forever Divas. Both shows at 8. October begins with an Elton John tribute on Saturday 5th and then opening on the 11th and going through to the 20th the welcome return of ‘The Full Monty’. Little needs to be said about that but I hope diaries are being feverishly marked. Don’t forget too, that although they are an independent operation, the theatre’s cafeteria and bar are getting some good write ups on Tripadvisor so you can visit the theatre any time and enjoy.

Moving swiftly, she bundled the six parcels into the back of the Citroen that she shared with Harry, and drove to her local post office in the Montpellier district of Cheltenham. If she could just double the orders to twelve a day she could pay someone to take over the packing and posting. The shops, with their elegant window displays, beckoned her in, but she had no time for such frivolities and concentrated on parking. Fortunately there was no queue in the post office and soon she was hurrying back home into the comfort of her large kitchen, which still held a lingering smell of breakfast toast and coffee. Sitting down with a trade magazine, Kristin enjoyed a few moments of peace while she ate a cheese sandwich and drank a glass of orange juice. The radio droned on in the background. Elvis and Priscilla were to divorce and Richard Nixon was to be the first American president to visit communist China. She switched the radio off and rummaged in her handbag for some loose change for the salon. ‘Oh boy, I’ll never get used to this new decimalised currency,’ she thought, as she put her glass and plate into the sink before hurrying down the spiral staircase in the hallway, which led into the salon. Clients entered the ground floor flat via a red painted door with a polished brass plaque that announced The Works Beauty Salon. Fran Middleton, her trusty assistant, was showing a client out. “Bye, Mrs Jenkins, see you next week.” “Bye, dear. Oh, hello Kristin, busy as usual?” Mrs Jenkins, her jaw relaxed and her speech sleepy after a body massage, smiled at Kristin. “Yes – but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Kristin enthused as she tucked her dark bobbed hair behind her ears. “I’ll be off for lunch then.” Fran took her handbag from under the reception desk, rooted out a chocolate bar and headed for the door. “See you later.” Kristin scanned her appointments. It would be a busy afternoon again. She enjoyed working with Fran, a quiet, competent girl with a sensible haircut who had been with her for six months. Fran had a long-term boyfriend whom she hoped to marry one day, but, ever cautious, she did not want to rush into anything. However, she was secretly saving her wages for a deposit on what she dreamed would be her first home. Although an efficient therapist, Fran was not glamorous. Instead, she had the scrubbed and wholesome look as of a nurse. The red door opened and a new client came in, tripping over the doormat. “Mrs. Lee?” Kristin got up from behind the desk to steady a dark-haired lady, who was battling unsuccessfully with an

umbrella and looking slightly disorientated. “Er, yes. Angela Lee. I’ve got an appointment for a facial.” The client had an American accent and wore a red polka dot mackintosh. “Hello, I’m Kristin. Shall I take your umbrella? Awful weather. Come with me.” Kristin relieved Mrs Lee of her cherry red brolly, which she placed in an umbrella stand by the door. “Nice place you have here. My skin’s a mess. I’m a mess. Life’s a mess.” She slurred and seemed to speak from the corner of her mouth as if she was trying not to choke on a sweet. For once lost for words, Kristin showed the lady into a facial cubicle that Fran had left neat and tidy. A fresh batch of damp cotton wool had been stacked in the stainless steel bowl on a trolley and all the bottle tops had been replaced, something that Kristin was fussy about. “Just take your blouse off and make yourself comfortable on the couch while I go and wash my hands. Your skin won’t feel a mess after your facial, I’m sure.” Kristin unfolded the pale green blanket on the facial couch and made her way to the salon bathroom. On her return, she was pleased to see Mrs Lee lying on the couch looking relaxed with her eyes closed. Kristin wrapped the blanket around her so that she was cocooned and warm, placed a clean white towel across her shoulders and proceeded to put a headband on her new client. As she warmed the cleanser in her hands before applying it to Mrs Lee’s face and throat she wondered how long it would be before she would be doing this with her own products. It was a huge undertaking, she knew, but she was optimistic that she could pull it off. She chatted easily with her new client, learning that her husband had been posted to a large organisation in Cheltenham, and that they would return to the States in a few years’ time. Kristin thought that Mrs Lee had been sucking medicinal sweets, or had taken a hefty dose of cough mixture, as her breath smelled a little strange. It was not unusual for clients to doze when having a facial, especially when it came to the massage. Mrs Lee was so relaxed that she was asleep within ten minutes of her treatment and started to snore gently as Kristin applied the facemask. Out of habit Kristin whispered, “I’ll leave you for a while to relax while the mask’s on.” There was no reply. Just then she heard the door open and hurried into the reception area. KEY FEATURE Climbing Kilimanjaro for Charity In June Paul Shafto a La Cala resident, joined 15 intrepid explorers and he did it - reaching the summit of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro!! The challenge was to raise money for the Finlay Cooper Fund. The fund was set up by former Middlesbrough, Millwall and Nottingham Forest defender Cooper and his wife Julie in loving memory of their son, Finlay, who sadly died in a tragic choking accident shortly before his second birthday, 11 years ago. The fundraisers faced a tough test, trekking up to 13 hrs a day through five climate zones, with temperatures ranging from 30 degrees to a frostbiting -15 at the 5,895m summit! As well as dealing with climbing by torchlight on occasion and of course the possibility

of altitude sickness. Paul and the rest of the group flew to Africa on 7th June and reached the summit by the 14th. The ultimate goal was not only to reach the top but to raise as much money as possible for the Trust in aid of children’s charities. We are delighted to let you know that Paul raised a fantastic amount of 2300 Euros and the grand total for the Finlay Cooper Fund raised from the climb will amount to a whopping 35,000 Pounds approximately – WOW! Paul would like to thank everyone for their generous donations. You will see from some of the photos above that Key to Mijas Costa can reach heights that other publications cannot!!

KEY ASTROLOGY Astrology4Everyone – Jupiter in Cancer 2013/14 When Jupiter, the planet of expansion, optimism and growth, entered the nurturing sign of Cancer in June this year it heralded the start of a12-month period when we are likely to place a strong emphasis on the emotions and maternal instincts. Opportunities will arise that enable us to grow and succeed through emotional channels and overall we will be more inclined to believe that emotional intelligence is the major key to solving problems. Jupiter is also about knowledge and there is no better sign than Cancer to help us to learn about our roots and family traditions. While it’s true to say that Jupiter can overemphasise and exaggerate, which is something to watch out for, the “higher” vibration of this benefic Planet looks for perspective and in the main we should be able to rise above any pettiness and mundane concerns or inconveniences that occasionally crop up. The cycle of Jupiter through each of the 12 signs of the Zodiac takes approximately 12 years… the last time Jupiter travelled through Cancer was 2001/2002. As a note of interest the Royal Baby born to William (Cancer) and Kate (Capricorn) on 22nd July has four planets in Cancer including the Sun and Jupiter and was born just before the moon became full in Capricorn! would say propitious but we’ll have to wait and see. Whatever else, this little Cancerian will have a sensitive and emotional nature (along with some stubbornness from his Scorpio Ascendant) that will surely be nurtured by his parents just as his Grandmother, Princess Diana (Cancer) did before them! Wherever Jupiter is currently transiting in your own chart is where you may find your ‘joy’ and you may notice this area of life expanding and improving in some way. Working from a solar house chart (using Sun on the Ascendant) I’ve written a brief description of how each Sun sign may experience the positive side of Jupiter in Cancer (June 2013 to July 2014), keeping in mind that balance is the key for all things related to this planet. Not everyone will feel these effects at the same time - for instance those born towards the end of their sun sign may not feel the effects until the early to middle part of next year - but as you will see there is a general theme running through each sign. If you have any questions relating to this article or would like to find out more about obtaining your birth chart or a transit forecast report write to me at astrology4everyone@yahoo.co.uk.

WIMBLEDON 2013 With the surprise elimination of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Jo Wilfried Songa in the early stages of the tournament, it gave Andy Murray his best chance yet of Wimbledon glory.
was scoring 180’s for fun. Van Gerwen superbly checked out on 150 (two treble twenties and double fifteen) to stay in the match but ‘The Jackpot’ nailed 160 to take the match 11-8 in the next.
In the women’s event Laura Robson battled through to the fourth round and the second week, the first English woman to do so since 1998.This bodes well for the future and promises a decent run at least in the tournament for Robson.
Another Dutchman, Ronny Huybrechts, had surprisingly put out Phil Taylor 10-5 in the first round. Adrian Lewis picked off the treble 19 all tournament and finished well. After final opponent Simon Whitlock went close with a 161 finish, Lewis hit double 5 to complete an emphatic 11-6 win.
Andy Murray was pushed hard in the quarter finals by the Spaniard, Fernando Verdasco. After falling two sets behind, Murray battled back to level. At 5 games all in the 5th set, Murray crucially broke Verdasco’s serve and served the match out in the next. In the semis there were entertaining rallies between Djokovic and the Argentine, de la Potra. De la Potra nicked the tie break 7-6 to level up at 2 sets apiece but Djokovic took the deciding set to book his place in the final. Murray’s opponent in the semi final, the Pole, Jerzy Janowicz had a penchant for drop shots plus a big serve and powerful forehand. A dispute about the roof closing didn’t stop Murray powering to a 3 sets to 1 victory. Incredibly, Murray then beat Novak Djokovic in the final in straight sets 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 on 7th July to become the first British men’s singles winner since Fred Perry 77 years previously. EUROPEAN DARTS, MULHEIM July 4-7 Easily the match of the tournament was the cracker between Adrian Lewis and Dutchman, Michael Van Gerwen. In an earlier round and another cracking encounter, Whitlock had been 3-9 down to Jamie Caven from Leicester but had come back to nick it 10-9 with two treble 19’s and double 16. ASHES A memorable first test match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, won by England by 14 runs. A debut for 19 year old Ashton Agar who had played only 10 first class matches in Australia. Improbably, batting at number 11, he scored 98 and bowled very tidily and economically with spin. England’s James Anderson bowled aggressively with swing and took 10 wickets in the match although the other bowlers, Graeme Swann, Stuart Broad and Steven Finn played their part. Skipper, Alistair Cook, took several fine catches at slip. The second test was not largely watched because someone had decided to put the golf Open on at the same time although in a nutshell, Australia were hammered in the second test. Ian Bell, following his first test century, continued to be in fine form with the bat displaying excellent technique and Joe Root became the youngest England batsman to score a hundred at Lords with his 180 aged 22 years and 202 days. Tim Bresnan, in for Steven Finn, chipped in with the bat (36) and the ball, taking a couple of wickets with swing bowling.

KEY FEATURE I Have Lost My Purpose In Life Dear Joy I have lost my purpose in life. I don’t seem to have any energy for anything and constantly feel guilty that I’m wasting my life and have no value. I seem to just glide through everyday like a robot and feel disconnected from the world, my friends and myself. What can I do is there a solution or do I just have to wait till things change? Please can you help me? John Hi John Well good news – Today is the day for change! Consider this - what you have in mind at the start of the day is the beginning of that change either for better or worse. So let’s get some good thoughts going. Changing a pattern of old behaviour is either a challenge or a delight depending on how you think about it. Whatever happened yesterday let it go; this thinking is the key to everything. Start each new day with a positive affirmation and an attitude of gratitude for all that will happen today. Our thinking comes from our beliefs about everything and anything, what we believe frames all our thinking. So it’s our beliefs we have to concentrate on to start with. Get yourself a pen and paper and draw a line down the middle, on one side write down all the things you feel good about and are proud of, going back as far as you can remember. Maybe winning a medal at school, passing your driving test, getting the job you wanted, everything in
By Joy Fahey
the past that made you feel good. Now on the other side write all the things you don’t feel good about. I’ll hazard a guess that your first list will be much longer. Now how does that make you feel? You shift energy about in your thinking and can lift yourself out of focusing on all the negatives. You see it’s not what happens to us, the key is what we do about it. At the moment you’ve got stuck in a certain mode of thinking. By doing that little exercise you move your thoughts around, now you can change your focus onto things you feel proud of. Keeping that in mind your focus starts to change. But practice makes perfect, every time you catch your falling back, re-focus. With another piece of paper write down things that you love, you see you have to keep moving forward, let your mind run wild. Your energy levels will go up and new ideas will pop into your head and suddenly you will feel re energized. It’s hard to stay miserable it takes a great deal of energy to stay suck! Self pity is quite difficult to keep up all the time!! I hope you are smiling now – if you will change everything around you will change. Your thought today could be ‘what if it all went right’! Congratulate yourself on each new achievement no matter how small, build on each positive. If you find yourself slipping, just start again. It’s a new adventure. A baby learning to walk never beats itself up for falling over, it just starts again. Enjoy the process, after all isn’t that what life is about? Life is great if you want it to be! Joy

KEY PETS Attention All Dog Owners in Mijas Costa We all know the importance of keeping our dogs on leads but where can we go where they can run free, exercise and socialise with other dogs? There are no dogs parks in the area and there must be a lot of land that doesn’t immediately back onto urbanizations, that could be made available to allow our dogs to run and play in safety. A petition is being drawn up to present to the Mayor of Mijas, Àngel Nozal Lajo, asking for help in getting a dog park or parks which will enable our dogs to have a fuller life. Although the petition was initially looking at three specific areas in Calahonda and La Cala, there may be many other areas that could be suitable in the vicinity of Mijas Costa. The Town Hall just needs to know that it’s something needed for our dogs. If you would like to help in getting space for your dog to run free, you can sign an online petition via: www.petitions24. com/dedicated_dog_park_in_calahonda_and_la_cala. Alternatively, there is a paper petition in Veterinarias Los Cipreses Clínica and Dogo Azul Calahonda and also at the Calahonda EUC offices. Every signature will help.

KEY PETS Rescuing a French Bulldog
By Frenchbullrus
Hi Everyone! Frenchbullrus have some exciting news on the rescue side of our work - French Bulldog Rescue UK, who do wonderful work in the UK, have welcomed us, meaning that together we are able to cover more of Spain and offer bulldogs in need of the option of going back to the UK to new homes. With their contacts in Spain, they are also able to send their people to government pounds to release bulldogs (however red tape prevented them getting out 9 in July, with only 2 being saved). This is no easy feat and we do need more Spanish-speaking foster carers willing to release dogs and offer foster care while the dog receives the vet care it needs and injections etc ready to travel. With a huge fan base between us, we hope to reach the thousands of bulldog lovers out there willing to offer a new life to these bulldogs. Sadly most of the bulldogs in rescue in Spain have serious genetic health and social issues meaning that they really need to go to homes with people that know this breed or that have good back-up help and support. Together with other wonderful bulldog Facebook pages, we all give our time free to members offering expert advice about diet, skin care, good products to use and recommendations of good vets and other dog experts with vast knowledge of this breed. With support from many top breeders, who to be honest know the breed better than most, as they are all very passionate about helping bulldogs that have been rescued. 80% of the bulldogs that come into rescue are the product of bad breeding, puppy farm puppies brought cheaply from pet shops (thankfully the sale of dogs in pet shops has stopped in UK) or other European countries, and then sold to people that will have no back-up help or support and that know nothing about the breed. They buy theses puppies cheaply and accept that because they are cheap they won’t get to see the puppy in the breeder’s home with the mother. They take risks, and in a sense they feel like they are rescuing this puppy!!! However,
without getting heavy, they play a huge part in this horrible trade, and fuel the terrible abuse of the puppy farm dogs used as breeding machines. Once one litter is sold, a quick phone call and an injection later, the poor female will be quickly bred again. Breeders could all afford to sell their puppies cheaper if they did this, but with good breeders breeding from their females only once a year, that alone counts for the price difference, without taking into account the man hours in vetting homes, top health care for all their dogs, good quality food and standards of living of their dogs etc, unlike puppy farms where standards are very low and little thought is given to the above things and then there’s the breed standard code; genetics are very important in this breed with stud fees and trying their best to produce pure blooded healthy dogs. So, back to the rescue side. If you can offer help of any kind please use the direct links to contact us, even if you are just a bulldog lover or own a bulldog, we welcome you for any advice and input you may be able to give, but we really need foster carers and people willing to vet people or homes. With many vetted homes already waiting in the UK, there really is no need for any French Bulldog to be at risk here in Spain. Remember, any small amount of help could make the world of difference to that one bulldog on death row because there is nobody to release it and offer it a home while it’s made ready to travel back to the UK or be homed to a vetted family here in Spain. So welcome French Bull Rescue UK - Jacqui Horvath, Theresa Dibble, Paulette Chell Wootton - most of whom already have a rescue Frenchie as part of their family, and thank you. A quick thank you to Stepth Chapman who has one of our dogs for her fantastic facebook group, All for the love of French Bulldogs. KEY COMPUTERS Clean Your PC A large proportion of our clients will start their visit to our shop with the following: “Lately my PC seems to have gone really slow for no apparent reason”, normally followed by: “I’ve done absolutely nothing to it”. Well, not knowingly, at least. The first rule every computer user should be aware of, within IT, as well as in the real world, is that there is no such thing as a free lunch. A few examples: Your PC asks you to upgrade Adobe Flash Player. This is a recommended process, but you should proceed with care. Do NOT, and I repeat NOT, perform a standard install. Always opt for the advanced or personalised install. This will allow you to choose where, but above all, what you would like to install, as in this case if you don’t, you’ll end up with a nice little extra toolbar from Ask and your homepage will show up as www.ask.com instead of what you formerly had. Another one: Download Ccleaner, an otherwise excellent programme, and install it through the standard option. You’ll end up with I don’t know xxxxxxxx! Java instal…, a program needed for online banking. Again you’ll end up with the ask.com toolbar. Where it really goes wrong is, when you decide to download a “free” programme, which will solve all your problems once and for all. These programs normally install several other small “presents”, which will in the best case slow your pc down, and in the worst turn it into a spam mail server, pin you a virus or even use your hard disk for storing illicit material. “But I already have an antivirus” is then the next comment. Good, it’s already something, but unfortunately not always enough. Malware, spam, browser hijackers, proxy servers and more will attempt to influence the way you use your PC for a variety of reasons, but normally to make money from you. Also, use common sense first of all, but in general, just say no, when you don’t know, what they are asking you. It’s too late, you’re already caught and everything is going
By Hans Jeppe Nielsen, Manager - WISE
really slow or has even come to a complete stop; what to do now. Again, apply common sense. When you look for a solution, say through Google to your problem, bear in mind that very often some of the most obvious links to a “repair” are actually everything but that, it could very often make it even worse. Look out for spectacular programme names like “complete advanced PC protection, Superantivirus, Gold protection” or whatever marketing blabberish. They are in most cases expensive and useless and in a few cases downright fraudulent. Anyway, try a few initial steps. In your control panel, there is an option to uninstall programmes. This will give you a long list of everything installed on your PC. Go through the list and uninstall whatever seems wrong, although proceed with caution as some might be benevolent even with a funny name. Then clean your so-called cache. This is a place on your PC, where all your temporary files and folders are stored and should be cleaned every so often. A good programme is Ccleaner, but again, don’t do a standard install, as these people are in it to make Money just like everyone else. Finally, run your antivirus completely over night and restart your PC afterwards. Did it work? If so, good for you, if not a heavier hand is needed, and programmes that enter into the system or manual editing of registers are needed. Again, if you Google your problem, you’ll find without a doubt that others have had the same problem. Read up on it and above all, the feedback people give with regards to the various solutions. And finally, should you not have any luck, come round to our offices with your PC, and we’ll perform the clean for you. Again, we, as well as everyone else, are in it for the Money, but don’t worry, we’ll give a quote initially and we also work on the basis of “no cure, no pay”. You’ll find our address in the advert on this page.

panies can now serve their customers on Mobile at a fraction of the cost. “There’s no longer a need to create an App for each phone OS and accessing the site is a seamless process for the user.” Said Geert “Our SmartFusionApp loads as a normal website, senses what phone is searching and delivers the relevant version accordingly; it’ll also detect whether your phone is set up for English or Spanish etc and deliver the relevant language”. According to Google, over 60% of searches now originate from a mobile device and only 40% from a PC or laptop. But here’s the key factor - only 2% of PC browsers actually take action, whereas from a mobile it’s a massive 34% - that’s 1 in every 3 visitors!! So ask yourself this…would you like to see 34% more customers contacting you? If so, then it’s time to Get Smart and get a Smart Fusion App. We did!

KEY FINANCE Funeral Plans When most of us first came to live here in Spain, possibly not one of us gave much thought about the fact that we would eventually be dying here. Probably it never even occurred to us that our relatives or friends back in the UK would end up having to make funeral arrangements. The cost of a funeral has historically increased above the normal levels of inflation and this is a situation that is predicted to continue. A funeral costing just £850 fifteen years ago would cost nearer £2,750 now. It is impossible to say what that cost might be in five or ten or more years’ time.
By Rightway Insurance & Finance What is certain is that a Funeral Plan, which is bought now at today’s prices, or paid for in convenient monthly instalments, would provide the amount required to pay for the services of a Funeral Director. This would enable the Funeral Director to carry out all the necessary arrangements and documentation in respect of your planned wishes when the inevitable happens. It will not cost your family one-penny more – whenever it is ultimately needed. For the benefit of your friends and loved ones that you will leave behind, consider a Funeral Plan, which is available from Right Way Insurance & Finance, your local agent.

KEY FINANCE Moving Slowly in the Right Direction In the euro area economic data were mostly low key and as expected. We did see a broad, if modest improvement in business and consumer confidence and retail sales in Germany looked pretty healthy. At last we also had some optimism in Spain where our manufacturing data has finally stopped deteriorating and our PMI came in bang on 50. Two of the old familiar countries have been back in the news, Portugal and Greece. Portugal with the political issues saw its bond yields jump to over 8% at one stage, not good news however they are now back at more sensible levels and in Greece the Eurozone Finance Ministers relented and gave away another 2.5 billion euros as part of the bailout package. It seems Greece still has a lot of repair work to do at home by getting to grips with a reduction in public sector jobs. The latest political scandal has been in Luxembourg where the Prime minister had to resign over a spying issue; integrity was at stake not least because the very same man, Mr Jean Claude Juncker, was also head of the euro group of finance ministers. The European Central Bank held rates during July and said they would continue to support the euro for the foreseeable future. News from the UK has been better of late and of course The Bank of England has a new governor who chaired his first meeting in July. Interest rates were also on hold in the UK. Mr Osborne did his bit by announcing cuts in government departments and is seeking to save around £11.5 billion to help him achieve his overall spending target of £745 billion next

year and is also seeking support for The Banking Standards Bill. Home owners in the UK are also feeling happier as it appears that house prices in general are on the up and Deloitte has said that the UK’s top firms now are more willing to expand than at any other point over the last 3 years. In the US, recent suggestions had been that the monetary support strategy could be moving a step nearer to wind down however of late Mr Bernanke, Chairman of the Federal Reserve has said The Fed would continue to support the US economy as and when necessary so the date for wind down is not quite so imminent. We also saw data and strong indications that their economy is on a path to recovery which meant the dollar had been the favoured currency once again but of late has slipped back. House prices have shown considerable increases not least in San Francisco where it seems prices have risen by 23% in the last 12 months and the economy is still producing jobs for the unemployed so it’s all positive at the moment. KEY LAW Cloud Computing Benefits
By Victoria Anzola, Iberdata 21
A U.S. study by Google & Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory reveals how much energy could be saved if people who use computers in offices (about 86 million in the U.S.) went “to the cloud “. It is estimated that savings in energy would be about 87%, or 23,000 kWh annually. Currently between 1% and 2% of global electricity consumption is used in data processing centres. The gigantic cloud computing servers are usually much more energy efficient than the individual servers in companies’ basements. If companies use the cloud, they could save roughly 87% of the total energy consumption. The bottom line is that “the cloud” of the Internet is pretty ‘green’. CLOUD COMPUTING PROBLEMS: DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY What should I consider when using it? When hiring a service under the cloud computing model it is necessary to ensure that the service provider meets all requirements of confidentiality, security and integrity of the data we have deposited there, and will always be available for use only by the person who has contracted the service as well as meeting the law applicable at national and European level. Is there any risk in terms of data protection? It is emphasized that compliance with the data protection legislation is an essential aspect when hiring Cloud services. The company hiring the services (the “Controller”) is considered responsible for the data and required to comply with the Data Protection Act. In turn, the provider of cloud computing services has the status of processor. This relationship, regulated under the law, makes the hirer responsible for checking the legal requirements in terms of Data Protection. This responsibility extends to the outsourcing of services. In this framework, the contract provision of personal data to third parties is very important and should meet the requirements of Article 12 (paragraph 8) of the Data Protection Act. What guarantees do I require to be taken by the provider of Cloud? When choosing a cloud computing service provider and to avoid surprises the Cloud service provider should be checked to ensure it meets the legal and technical minimum requirements to ensure the security and integrity of data. What law applies? When hiring a Cloud Computing service where personal data is concerned, it is necessary to ensure that the provider is compliant with all the requirements under the Data Protection Act. Your company should choose the service provider that meets the legal requirements at national or European level in data protection and know that the service provider will perform to those regulations and standards.
46
KEY TO MIJAS COSTA
For this purpose, a distinction: - If the transmission of the data derived from the provision of Cloud services is carried out in the territory of the European Economic Area and is not considered international data transfer (LOPD Article 5.1.s), the approval of the Spanish Agency for Data Protection AEPD is not required, although they will observe the rest of the guarantees described in this document. - When data is intended for any country with a level of protection that is considered appropriate by the Commission Decision and the data protection regulations of the country in question is considered comparable to Europe, AEPD authorization is not necessary. - These considerations are likewise extended to suppliers based in the U.S. that have voluntarily acceded to the provision of these services (“safe-harbor”), under which they undertake to meet European requirements in data protection. What essentials must the service provider have of Cloud computing for my company to be secure? A cloud computing service is a very desirable model from the standpoint of operational and financial considerations, but it is necessary to check prior to hiring that the service provider complies with the guarantees with the aim of meeting the technical and legal characteristics and fully guarantees the right to protection of personal data. SERVICE DELIVERY AGREEMENT: essentials Essential aspects of the service contract to be signed, both technical and legal. The Data Protection Act provides in Article 12.2 that “The completion of treatment for third parties should be regulated in a contract that must be in writing or in some other form which allows its conclusion and content, expressly stipulating that the processor will only process the data in accordance with the instructions of the Controller (i.e. the Hirer of the services), which will not be applied or used for purposes other than that stated in the contract, not disclose, even to preserve, to other people. “ In other words, the services contract between the company and its Cloud service provider has to incorporate the provisions necessary to ensure the proper implementation of the rules on data protection. KEY FEATURE Letting Your Passport Expire Can Cost More Than You Think
By The British Embassy, Madrid
More than 6000 emergency passports issued in Spain last year
be a stressful situation. And you will still need to renew your full passport when you get back.”
The number of emergency passports issued by British Consulates in Spain rose 11% last year to a total of 6005 – more than a fifth (22%) of the Foreign Office world total. The increase has triggered the British Embassy to warn British expats to take care of their passports, check the expiry date and renew them in good time.
Many people fear that by renewing a passport before it expires they will ‘lose out’ on validity they have paid for. In fact any remaining validity on your existing passport (up to a total of nine months) will be added to the new one.
In May alone this year 493 emergency passports were issued to British nationals in Spain, including 280 as a result of theft (mainly bag theft), car break-ins, burglary and pickpocketing. Of the 213 emergency passports issued for other reasons, 14% were because full passports had expired. Expatriates should check when their passports are due to expire and make a diary note to renew them up to nine months earlier, says Will Middleton, new Consular Regional Director for Spain. “Living overseas, it can be easy to think that you don’t need your passport or to forget to renew it. “But if you need to travel at short notice, getting an emergency passport is both costly - currently 116 euros - and time-consuming, which can add further to what may already

Circumstances in which British expatriates can find themselves needing emergency passports vary from the death or serious illness of a loved one through to job opportunities put at risk - like the resident who was offered an interview in Germany only to discover his passport had expired. Others have been forced to cancel holidays of a lifetime for lack of a valid passport. One customer, who had already suffered five lost or stolen passports over the years and received a warning from the Passport Service, decided to keep the latest one safe by storing it in the freezer. Unfortunately it got wet, so he had to get yet another emergency one. Applying for a new passport is simple: download the application form and guidance notes from www.gov.uk/overseaspassports, complete them at home and send them off with your photographs. A new passport generally takes a minimum of four weeks from when the application is received.

KEY FEATURE Ford-Dunn Leads The Spanish Supermoto Championship
It’s been a busy July for the Supermoto racing brothers from Murcia. Both Anthony and Mat Ford-Dunn were in action at the 3rd round of the Catalan championship earlier in the Month with Mat finishing 3rd and 2nd in his two races for 2nd overall and Anthony having a fantastic ride to finish 1st and 2nd that gave him the overall win in the SM Open class. After the confidence boosting results from the Catalan championship at Alcarras, the brothers were next out at the Samper de Calanda circuit in Aragon for the 3rd round of the Spanish Supermoto championship. The fast and flowing circuit suited more powerful machines but the brothers put in a superb display on their Advance Moves International Removals sponsored machines, in the extremely hot conditions to come away with some strong results. The brothers had mixed fortunes with Anthony at the front of the pack in the SM open class before three different problems in each of his three races prevented him from achieving the podium position that he so rightly de-
By Supermotoland Race Team served. In the first race he had to make a stop and go penalty for jumping the start despite not having gained an advantage. In the 2nd race he was knocked off his bike in the 2nd corner and just to top the day off, he had a rear puncture in the final race of the day! Despite the catalogue of disasters, he still finished 6th overall and knows that his pace is strong, he just needs a little more luck next time out. It appeared that whilst Anthony was suffering with bad luck, his older brother, Mat, was having all the good luck in the SM Masters class as he finished in 3rd and 2nd positions in his two races for 2nd overall, and enough points to push him into the championship lead. Mat now leads the championship by 11 points at the halfway point of the season and with the Summer break ahead the brothers will be training hard to achieve even better results when racing resumes in September. Further results, photos and videos of the team in action can be found on the team’s website at www.supermotoland.com.

KEY NEWS through our house one evening. Fortunately we had a circuit breaker which bore the brunt of it but this was completely burned out and unfortunately the power surge took amongst its victims the electronic gate which secures the back of the house. We had hoped this would just be a simple case of replacing the specialist fuse, but unfortunately we were not so lucky. We then contacted our friends at Fortress who came to visit us promptly. Of course the solution was not simple in that the gate was quite old and therefore difficult to find the part. However, Fortress did come up with a solution even in the face of adversity and the gate is working perfectly again. The technician thought outside the box, and was a true professional. So, Fortress, thank you from us. If you need any kind of security equipment such as grills, rejas or gates, you can contact Fortress on 952 931 128 or visit their website on www.fortresssecurityspain.com or their premises in Las Postas, Calahonda, near the BBVA bank. MELEC COSTA
As with Fortress Security above, Melec Costa are not yet an advertiser with us but they also came to our rescue after the electrical power surge wreaked havoc on our equipment. We did not even notice at first that there was a problem with our fridge and freezer until I went to cook dinner a couple of days later and opened up the bag of chicken that was in the fridge. I promptly closed it and chucked it straight in the bin as the smell was overpowering! It was beans on toast for dinner that night! We have used Melec Costa on a number of occasions for repairs to white goods and have always found them very helpful and professional. They did not disappoint on this occasion either. The fan that serviced both the fridge and freezer had melted. Again, the equipment was old and the technician was not even sure if the part could still be obtained. We are pleased to report that Melec Costa were able to locate the part much quicker than anticipated, so we are very grateful to them for this – it is no joke not having a fridge at the beginning of August! As well as repairs to your kitchen equipment, Melec Costa also sells white goods at reasonable rates. You can find Melec Costa on the Butibamba slip road in La Cala next door to the chemist or contact them on 952 493 426. So, if you need a repair to any of your kitchen

TIMEOUT SPAS
is the premium supplier of spas, jacuzzis, SwimSpas and saunas on the Costa del Sol and opened its doors in September 2000. With hundreds of satisfied customers we are proud to offer the most professional service on the Coast - our technicians can quickly solve any problem and not just on spas we have sold, we service all brands, so if you have a problem, call us! We are the spa professionals! If you are looking to buy a spa, TimeOut can offer you much more than most spa dealers. The majority of spa dealers are tied to one brand and can therefore only offer a limited range of spas. TimeOut, on the other hand, offers multiple brands and we pick from each manufacturer only the best spas and we do this by personally testing every single spa we sell - so we know what we are talking about! In the last few years we have also launched a new product onto the market; the SwimSpa. This is a combination of a swimming pool and a spa that puts the best of these two products together. Imagine a swimming pool small enough that it doesn’t take up your whole garden yet one that you can swim in for as long as you want. A SwimSpa is just that! With powerful water jets pushing water towards you, you can swim in place much like you can run in place on a treadmill. But there is more! At the other end there are
