ALVIN AILEY IS BACK Celebrating its 60th anniversary, Alvin Ailey returns to Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre March 6-10 Milestone anniversaries are something to appreciate, and the return of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is no exception.

The world-renowned dance company makes its return to Chicago March 6-10 to commemorate the its 60th anniversary, as well as the 50th anniversary of its first performances at the iconic Auditorium Theatre.

During these special five days, Alvin Ailey will be performing Midwest premieres to Rennie Harris’ Lazarus, the company’s first ever two-act ballet, in addition to Wayne

McGregor’s Kairos and Jessica Lang’s EN. Not to be forgotten, the company will also perform the dynamic Timeless Ailey, a curated selection of classic pieces by the visionary founder.

Lazarus, choreographed by the hiphop master Harris, is inspired by the life and legacy of Ailey himself, addressing the racial inequalities our country has faced since the company was founded in 1958.
