WHAT

“After protecting many diverse pipeline systems from internal corrosion globally for over a quarter of a century, the Swagelining® concept remains simple yet ingenious. It’s the benefits that are now becoming more obvious.”

The prospect of having to excavate and replace thousands of kilometres of pipelines buried in some very difficult locations was the catalyst for the development of our technology. In the UK, British Gas and United Utilities – two major providers of infrastructure facilities working globally – had the same drivers. Swagelining® and Die Drawing inventions were patented and later fused together under the Swagelining® banner. These patents were at the forefront of the development of Swagelining® technology as we know it today, providing internal corrosion protection for oil and gas pipelines and risers.

The reputation of Swagelining® polymer liners has ensured the technology remains in use worldwide. The corrosion protection success of polymer lining as a cost effective solution is acknowledged throughout the pipeline industry. It’s now increasingly used in subsea pipelines and in some hydrocarbon applications. In keeping with its tradition of leadership in lining, Swagelining® is at the forefront of advances to extend its use globally.

WHAT

“By minimising internal corrosion originating from the product being transported, long term pipeline operations become more certain. Swagelining® the right polymer liner pipe into the pipeline can produce that security.”

Swagelining® polymer liners is a cost effective alternative to building pipelines made from corrosion resistant alloys (CRA’s). With procurement lead times being shorter than for CRA materials, Swagelining® a new pipeline will enable it to become operational earlier. The complexities of welding CRA materials in pipeline production environments are also much reduced.

Whilst the internal surface of an unlined pipeline will deteriorate over time and cause increased operational costs, the surface smoothness of a polymer liner will normally last for the life of the pipeline, ensuring no loss of hydraulic performance over its operational life. Polymers are available to suit a wide range of pipeline applications from water through to multiphase hydrocarbon transportation. Polymer materials that are suitable for Swagelining® are available to support higher product temperatures and resistance to chemicals and sour gases. The abrasion and erosion resistance properties of polymer pipe also make it ideal for Swagelining® slurry pipelines.

TRACK

“With thousands of kilometres of pipelines currently protected from internal corrosion by Swagelining®, the 30 + year trial period as the leading polymer lining technology has been a huge success globally.”

Gas, oil, water, sewage, chemicals, mining slurry, seawater, even protecting undersea cables; Rehabilitation of existing under and over ground as well as new pipelines going under rivers; Reel, bundle and j-lay applications for subsea; Australia, South and North America, Africa, Europe, Middle and Far East, Russia; High pressure operations up to 476 bar; we could go on… We’ve been responsible for:• The world’s largest polymer lined water injection system (55km x 24”) • Lining pipeline systems up to 60” in diameter • Pulling individual string lengths from 24 m to 1.5km • Providing structural lining above 24”…

Today, Swagelining® is building a new level of service on the foundations provided by its extensive track record. The next generation of the technology application and the drive towards its future track record resides with Swagelining Limited – the company. Its focus is on working with pipeline system owners and operators, designers and constructors to provide management services and expertise on the benefits of Swagelining® polymer liners.

INNNOVATION

“Our culture is to keep the initiative and drive ourselves and our technology forward. Innovation creates passion in our team and ensures inertia will not dull our edge.”

We believe that polymer lining is under-utilised in the pipeline industry. Our Research & Development focus is to look at the constraints that are restricting the growth of lining and to then develop the solution. R&D is the bridge between imagination and reality. We work on our own, with strategic partners and with pipeline builders and owners to improve the capability of Swagelining® to deliver step changes in polymer lining applications.

The Integrated Lining Solution illustrates our approach to development; material selection, insertion process, connector, termination and venting technologies, all brought together by Swagelining® in a service framework developed to support the pipeline industry.

WHO

“Swagelining® technology changed the pipeline rehabilitation industry forever and energised the use of trenchless technology worldwide. That’s our legacy. Today, we are focused on the new challenges to be met in our industry.”

Our mission is to ensure Swagelining® technology extends the service life of new and existing pipeline systems. To do this, we work with all the stakeholders – owner, operator, regulator, designer and constructor – to ensure that Swagelining® a polymer liner to prevent internal corrosion is the right technical, commercial and operational solution. To achieve our objectives, Swagelining Limited will provide management services, technical support, R&D, product development and Pre Qualification Testing (PQT), to ensure lining technology enables cost effective pipeline systems development.

We will assist customers in the evaluation and realisation of their lined pipeline projects by supporting feasibility and FEED studies and throughout project execution to final testing. Working within a company framework that is founded on 4 cornerstones – Management, Technology, Equipment and Training - Swagelining Limited is committed to involving local communities in our projects. Swagelining® technology provides a global reach. Our business model is focused on creating a local delivery capability – wherever you are.
