FRAME AND INFILL
Setting Rule
What I have tried to do is to present a twist of space by the rational and irrational arrangement of frame and infill. I first introduced a rational cuboid frame. Then I inserted two intercrossing infill pieces with irregular shape to provide an anti-gravity feeling of infill. As a result, an intercrossing slope between two infill pieces is created. By conducting a transitional element from the inner part of infill to the outer part of frame as extension part of infill, the transitional element form an endless cycle wrapping the frame and infill together to form an integrated composition. Moreover, the arrangement of the transition element provides a visual illusion of twist of space, Providing a sense of mystery of space.
the moving points travel along the line and joinning at a vertex.Then shifting along a different axis. My composition started from exploring the square. By making the off-center squares, Iobserved the points at the square cornercould travel along the diagonal to the oppositevertex. I found it was a interesting relationship between point, line and plane. Then, I repeat the same rule and introduce a new grometry:Triangle. This time, the points at the corner of triangle travel along the baseline and finallyjoined at vertex. By repeating the rules, a composition was finally finished. By introducing simple rules, it can help to make simpleelements to form incredible composition.

The contrast between light and dark could arouse the curiosity of people. People who are standing under the light would always want to discover what is hidden behind the dark. Under this situation, secret is more like a process of exploration but not only a result. By using the contrast of light and dark, I can use the light and staircase to lead people to explore more about the mass structure and to find out the secret of mass structure.

In Studio Earth, we were asking to design a pavilion on herring island in Melbourne, interpreting the meaning of secret. The project started with three themes: Apoint -line-plane , Amass section , and Aframe and infill . After that, it came to the site visit and analysis, to see how the ideas that we have explored during the studies of those three themes could inspire us to design the pavilion on herring island.
My interpretation to secret is a journey. Only when you take the courage to trust yourself to take further steps, you get closer to the secret. Therefore, in my pavilion, I tried to not only use every element to maintain a sense of mystery, but also provide hints for people to approach the final destination.

When the sun is on the left, the natural light would light up the left space, the left space will become light space. However, the diagonal and vertical solid wall would block the sun light entering the right space. As a result,the right space become dark place. The dark space is then acting as secret place to arouse people s curiosity, attracting people to explore.

BY ELEVATING THE TWO ENDS OF THE INFILL, AN INTERCROSSING SLOPE WAS CREATED. aS A RESSULT,, TWISTING EFFECT WAS CREATED BETWEEN INFILLS BY THE ECTENSION.
THE EXTENSION OF INFILL WERE THEN FURTHEREXTENTED FROM THE INFILL INSIDE TO THE FRAME,CREATING TWISTING EFFECT ON THE EDGE OF FRAME
STAGE 4 THE EXTENSION OF INFILL TRANSITED FROM THE FRAME BACK TO THE INFILL, COMPLETED AN ENDLESS CYCLE OF TWSTING EFECT THROUGHOUT THE STRUCTURE.
