APPENDIX P‐4: Final Narrative Evaluation List Please type. Teacher Candidate: Katherine Brou Student ID#_______________________ I. Outstanding Strengths: Katherine was a definite asset this semester and was a joy to work with. From the first day of school Katherine has played an active role in our daily routines. She takes initiative and has a true love of teaching and working with children. Her positive and calm demeanor made her very approachable and the students respected her. Each student viewed her as a teacher for our classroom because she took a very strong leadership role from day one. She developed relationships with each child and valued their thoughts and opinions. Katherine’s classroom management was excellent. She managed daily routines like a true professional and was able to adjust her lessons according to our day. She was not easily frazzled and could adjust to any situation. Katherine managed class behavior in a very positive manner and always allowed the students the opportunity to improve. She planned centers, two reading groups, and worked with struggling students on a day‐to‐day basis. When beginning a lesson her learning objectives were clear, she related them to previous learned material, and she showed a genuine enthusiasm for the content she was teaching. She took feedback and immediately internalized, and incorporated it into her daily routines and the planning of her lessons. As students were assessed whether informally or formally, Katherine reflected on her goals and objectives to ensure that students were successful. She made modifications as necessary to future plans based on data she gathered. Another strength for Katherine is her ability to assess a situation and state her opinion or personal views in a very professional and effective manner. I valued Katherine’s insight as a professional and the discussions we had concerning education. She formed friendly relationships with other professionals throughout the school and can work well with a variety of personalities. Katherine will be an exceptional teacher! II. Specific Areas the Candidate Needs to Focus on During the First Year of Teaching: During the first year of teaching Katherine should continue to work and improve her questioning skills and how she will model for students. She has showed great improvement in this area since the beginning of the semester but should still strive to incorporate a variety of learning styles and types of questions. Katherine should begin to focus on her future classroom and what routines will work for her on a day to day basis.
