Mayte Michelle Rodríguez es una actriz estadounidense. A raíz de su primer papel protagonista en la película independiente Girlfight en 2000, es conocida por sus papeles en éxitos hollywoodenses.
Era una aspirante a actriz cuando se topó con un anuncio que informaba acerca de un casting para poder actuar en la película independiente y de bajo presupuesto Girlfight. Michelle ganó a las otras 350 chicas que aspiraban al papel, y encarnó a Diana Guzmán, una adolescente con muchos problemas que decide canalizar su agresión entrenando para convertirse en boxeadora. ser habitable. Kepler-22b, como rutinariamente lo han llamado en la NASA, cumple con buena parte de las condiciones que, aquí en la Tierra, dieron lugar a la vida. Kepler-22b está a 600 años luz de nosotros. El telescopio espacial Kepler, lanzado al espacio en marzo 2009 con la misión de detectar planetas, ha capturado su paso orbitando alrededor de una estrella del mismo tipo que el Sol.

En realidad, lo que ha anunciado ahora la NASA es la constatación por tercera vez de su tránsito ante los fotosensores del telescopio. Según la NASA, este nuevo planeta orbita en lo que los científicos denominan zona habitable: la región alrededor de una estrella en la que un planeta similar a la Tierra en tamaño, composición y atmósfera puede mantener agua líquida en su superficie.

TELETÓN USA SUPERÓ LA META La primera edición del Teletón USA logró arrancar con el pie derecho, pues superó la meta de recaudar $7 millones para ayudar a niños en Estados Unidos que sufren de alguna discapacidad, cáncer o autismo. Alrededor de las 2 de la mañana del domingo, luego de 28 horas de transmisión ininterrumpida, Don Francisco, Jorge Ramos, Lucero, Galilea Montijo y Raúl González anunciaron la cifra récord de $8,150,625. Con el monto recaudado será posible ayudar a diversas instituciones como el Miami Children’s Hospital, en donde se creará la Unidad de transplante de médula. Al Children’s Hospital de Los Angeles se le apoyará para armar un gimnasio terapéutico para rehabilitación por medio de mecanoterapia. Se destinarán recursos para la creación de un programa de apoyo a familiares de niños con cáncer en el Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital de Chicago También se crearán talleres de estimulación sensorial para niños con autismo en el Special Needs Activities Center for Kids en Nueva York. Adicionalmente se financiará el “Programa Milagros” para niños y brindar apoyo en el Boston Children’s Hospital.

Esta imagen de nuestra vida cotidiana, fue la que motivó a un grupo de investigadores del Instituto de Investigaciones Sociales de la Universidad de Michigan a realizar un estudio para saber si el uso de teléfonos celulares es contagioso. La tesis que plantean es la siguiente: “Poco a poco y con las mejoras tecnológicas las personas —generalmente los jóvenes y adolescentes— han creado una especie de subcultura con normas y comportamientos que giran en torno a los teléfonos móviles. Sin embargo, algunas personas utilizan estos dispositivos como «barreras para evitar la interacción con otros de manera pública”.
Para corroborarlo, en abril del 2011 se hizo un estudio etológico donde se analizó el comportamiento que tenían las personas de entre 16 y 25 años, en algunos de los espacios públicos (como comedores y áreas verdes) que rodean a la Universidad de Michigan. Cada observación duraba de tres minutos a media hora, tiempo en el que se medía la frecuencia con la que usaban sus dispositivos móviles. Los resultados finales fueron publicados en el “Human Ethology Bulletin” de la Sociedad Internacional para la Etología Humana. En ellos se afirma que una persona es más propensa a utilizar su teléfono celular si alguien cercano lo hace.

MUSIC Nació el 2 de julio de 1969 en Long Beach, California, una de las comunidades con mayor población mexicana en Estados Unidos.
EL ÚLTIMO DISCO DE JENNI RIVERA ES #1 La trágica muerte de Jenni Rivera ha catapultado el último disco de la "Diva de la banda", "Joyas prestadas: Banda", a la primera posición en la lista de Regional Mexican Albums desde la decimoctava. Por otra parte, "Joyas prestadas: Pop", de la desaparecida Jenni Rivera, subió de la vigésimoctava a la segunda posición.
Cuando aún estudiaba bachillerato, a los 15 años de edad, nació el primero de sus cinco hijos, lo que la obligó a vender discos y cassettes en mercados callejeros para sostenerse. Eso no impidió que estudiara administración de empresas, una decisión que años después le ayudó a fundar algunas compañías con sus hijos. También creó una fundación para ayudar a madres solteras y niños abusados o que padecían cáncer. Pero ese no era el camino que deseaba. Uno de sus hermanos, Guadalupe, se convirtió en cantante profesional de música norteña y en ocasiones le permitía a Jenni aparecer en sus espectáculos para cantar sólo una canción. En esos días la chica tenía sobrepeso, un problema que se combinaba con su vida familiar. Una de sus parejas fue sentenciada por cometer abuso sexual contra las hijas de Rivera, y después la cantante sufrió violencia doméstica. Esto marcó su vida artística. Varias de las canciones que compuso tenían un rasgo autobiográfico, e incluso con frecuencia

THE EASIEST: CHIFFON SCARF By Brittany Makes
It’s January and my wallet usually quivers around this time of year, it can sense my eagerness to shop for layers, coats, boots, sweaters.. to bundle up in the cool mornings and evenings… ooh I love Winter! Scarves are quite possibly my favorite accessory to wear during cool weather. Being in Southern California, the weather is not quite cold enough to wear knit scarves. The solution is to find the perfect light weight, silk, gauze, or chiffon scarf. I decided to take matters into my own hands, and make my own! Get ready, this is the easiest DIY ever! Step 1: go to your local fabric store (I went to JoAnne’s) Step 2: find the silk/chiffon aisle and select your fabric of choice Step 3: order 1.75 to 2 yards of fabric (i prefer 2 yards for that extra length) Step 4: if needed, trim the top and bottom edges of the fabric (I had to do this for only one of the fabrics I bought, there was a white trim on the leopard print that needed to be removed) Step 5: wear it with pride! Meow!

En esta misma época los comerciantes italianos los llevan a Francia, y después de ser usados por la nobleza de este país durante mucho tiempo, se olvidan gracias a una serie de revoluciones mundiales. Se retoma su uso en el siglo XX, usando campos opuestos como la política y la pornografía como buenos exponentes de su utilidad, igual que papeles en películas comerciales como el de Jodie Foster en Taxi Driver (1976) y Julia Roberts en Pretty Woman (1990). WHERE DID YOU SEE TVC? In early December we were present at CALLE 8. This two day event which is held every year brought together a well-known list of performers in the Latino circuit; we were honored to be in good company with the likes of Humberto Luna, "Los Pasteles Verdes", "Los Horóscopos de Durango". Did anyone say PARADE! We were there, too! At the Lynwood Candy Cane Lane Christmas Parade where Edwin Hernandez— Lynwood City Treasurer-- and his team Of city workers held the “Save the Parade Campaign”, and raised $93.000 to indeed save the parade after it had been sidelined because of budget cuts for the first time in its 91 year history. Finally, rounding out the busy month of December 2012, we were honored to be present at our very first Winter-Wonder-Land in East Los Angeles at “East L.A. On Ice” where TVC Magazine received a very nice sponsor plaque and kids from all—around were offered a free ice-skating experience— skates included—and lots and lots of fun sliding on real snow! With a long list of performers entertaining the crowd and playing an array of eclectic music, we all had an experience not soon forgotten… at least not till next year! Cheers East L.A.!

Ha llegado un nuevo año lleno de buenos deseos y propósitos, y qué mejor propósito que el de comer deliciosa y saludablemente.
"PECHUGAS EN SALSA DE BRÓCOLI" INGREDIENTES: • 4 medias pechugas de pollo Deshuesadas y sin piel • 400 g de queso manchego Cortado en tiras • Sal y pimienta al gusto • Aceite vegetal Para la salsa: • 3 tazas de ramitos de brócoli • Barrita de mantequilla • 1 taza de leche • 1 taza de crema • 1 paquete chico de queso crema
PREPARACIÓN: • Para hacer la salsa: en una cacerola derrite la mantequilla y sofríe el brócoli sin dejar de mover para impregnarlo (se ve brilloso). • Vierte la leche, baja el fuego y cocina 10 minutos o hasta que el brócoli esté suave; retira de la estufa. • Lícualo con la crema y el queso para hacer un puré, vacía en la cacerola, sazona con sal y pimienta y cocina hasta que suelte el hervor y reserva. • Abre las pechugas a la mitad, a lo largo, sazónalas con sal y pimienta, rellénalas con el queso y atora con palillos. • Fríelas en una sartén con aceite a fuego bajo y el recipiente tapado hasta que estén cocidas y doradas; baña con la salsa, retira y sirve.

El estudio publicado en la revista American Journal of Preventive Medicine se basó en datos de casi 4 mil 300 personas de Texas (sur) que viven cerca del área metropolitana de Dallas-Fort Worth, una de las cinco más congestionadas de Estados Unidos, y cerca de Austin. Los investigadores hallaron que las personas que manejaban diariamente largas distancias para ir a trabajar tenían mayores circunferencias de cintura, menores niveles de condición física cardiovascular, mayor presión arterial y mayor índice de masa corporal. "Los viajes largos pueden llevar a una reducción del gasto energético en general", dijo la autora principal del estudio, Christine Hoehner, de la Universidad de Washington en St. Louis, Misuri (centro). "Este estudio proporciona nueva información sobre distancias de viaje y resultados biológicos, un indicador poco estudiado del comportamiento sedentario, frecuente
entre los adultos que trabajan", dijo. Most people take more time researching the perfect car to purchase and don’t bother to research how to raise happy and healthy kids. There is TONS of research out there, but most prefer to play games on Facebook than take the time to educate themselves on perhaps the most significant job they will ever have: parenting. We never stop learning. I have been taking child development classes since community college and through my Master’s program in Clinical Psychology. Despite that and the fact that my daughter is now 13 years old, I am still learning. By no means do I consider
you want the way you want it-right now! You’re bigger, you’re smarter, and you’re right! So why not just tell them what to do? If necessary, yell at them, intimidate them, insist on your way.” According to one of my mentors, Dr. Sarah Larsen, how we act as adults depends on how much love we felt we received as children. We as adults learned our view of the world in those early years of childhood and development. If our needs were met, we learned to trust the world around us and grew from that stability into self-loving and confident individuals. Being yelled at, punished and hit does not promote love; it only promotes violence.

If we become so upset at our children’s behavior that we punish them, hit them or stop talking to them we are teaching our children that we love them conditionally, or in other words, only if they behave the way we want them
Awww the joys of parenting! Don’t we all wish children came with manuals? Life would be so much easier. But they sure don’t, so what do we do? Well, most people don’t do anything. They simply raise their kids however they see fit, usually mirroring the way their parents raised them. myself a perfect parent, there is no such thing since we are human and have our own issues. However, it is my goal to improve my parenting skills on a daily basis. Every parent can relate when I say that it can be very stressful when a child misbehaves. Many respond by yelling, punishing, or even spanking. But how effective are these techniques? In his brilliant book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Dr. Stephen Covey candidly discusses the mistakes he makes as a parent, “I pull out my ammunition-my superior size, my position of authority- and I yell or intimidate or I threaten or punish. And I win. I stand there, victorious in the middle of the debris of a shattered relationship while my children are outwardly submissive and inwardly rebellious, suppressing feelings that will come out later in uglier ways.” We believe we have won, when in reality we have lost. We are damaging our children and our relationship with them. Dr. Covey continues by saying “It’s easy to take advantage to manipulate, to get what
I observe parents on a daily basis. Throughout the years, I have noticed that most children get in trouble for things they cannot help or that is considered normal behavior for their age. One of the most common issues is “sharing”. Parents get very upset when their children refuse to share and usually punish or yank the object out of the child’s hand. Basic child development explains how being unwilling to share is normal behavior for kids; you simply cannot expect them to even understand the concept of sharing before the age of three. Forcing our children to share is definitely not the answer. As Dr. Covey explains, “It builds weavkness in the person forced to acquiesce, stunting the development of independent reasoning, growth, and internal discipline. And finally, it builds weakness in the relationship. Fear replaces cooperation, and both people involved become more arbitrary and defensive.” Understanding where they are coming from goes a long way. This does not mean that we
to. We must set boundaries and discipline our children and at the same time love them throughout the process. Dr. Covey explains “we counsel, we plead, we set limits and consequences. But we love, regardless.” The most important lesson I have learned as a parent has been that all that children really want is unconditional love; to feel heard and accepted for who they are. The more loving I am toward my daughter, the less issues we have. Dr. Covey says that “when we truly love others without condition, without strings, we help them feel secure and safe and validated and affirmed in their essential worth, identity, and integrity. Their natural growth process is encouraged. news+ FAA TO REVIEW ELECTRONICS BANS ON PLANES The slow process of updating the rules that dictate when and if you can use electronic devices on airplanes is inching along, with one major agency urging more freedom to use tablets, e-readers and other gadgets. In August, the FAA announced plans for a working group that would study the issue of portable electronics on flights and then make suggestions for changes. Now that committee is starting to come together. The working group will also include representatives from the electronics industry, pilots and flight attendant groups, plane manufacturers and other government agencies. Once established, the representatives will meet for six months and eventually give suggestions to the FAA about what devices are safe to use onboard and when they can be used. The group will not discuss cell phone use in the air, which is banned by the FCC because of the potential for interference with wireless networks on the ground. The other rules for gadget use on planes are established by the FAA, including a ban against the use of personal electronics during takeoff and landing, when the plane is below 10,000 feet.

Esto supera el número récord de deportaciones de la Administración de Barack Obama, que en el año fiscal 2011 deportó a 396,906 personas y a más de 392 mil personas en el correspondiente a 2010. El director de la ICE, John Morton, hizo ayer el anuncio de las cifras y destacó la tendencia a incrementar las deportaciones de criminales como el principal motivo para la deportación. CIFRAS EN AUMENTO La ICE también señaló que el 96% de las deportaciones se situaron en una categoría prioritaria.
