Ethos for advanced learning
BUiD brings the best of Welsh education to Dubai Cardiff University (CU) is in the top tier of Britain’s research universities and is a
member of the prestigious Russell Group. Over the last decade, its Welsh School of Architecture (WSA) has helped shape local higher education and research in sustainable design through its advice to the British University in Dubai (BUiD) since its

Students in Dubai and the UAE can gain much by a flavour of Wales in their university studies, and the Principality’s bilingualism can make such experience both more exotic and somehow more
welcoming for those whose first language isn’t English. BUiD’s Dean of Engineering and IT, Dr Bassam Abu-Hijleh has developed a close academic relationship with Professor Phil Jones, Head of WSA and regular visitor to the Gulf. Both acknowledge the value of the Cardiff-Dubai alliance, which enables many career-enhancing study options and patterns to be considered at all levels.
