ultural diversity, international curriculum and a metropolitan environment together contribute towards UAE’s popularity as a destination for higher education. Students are free to indulge in a variety of courses and participate in extra-curricular activities with access to state-of-the-art facilities. Furthermore, convenient financing options from banks help students pursue the programme of their choice
Inspired by life Manipal University Dubai offers students a variety of disciplines to pursue their undergraduate and graduate courses
and be well on their way towards a fulfilling career. An education in the UAE provides a stepping-stone for students and professionals alike, especially for those who look into continuing part of their studies in another country, but wish to return at a later time to build a career here. To date, the country has over 70 institutions, out of which more than 10 have licensed international branch campuses, according to the UAE Higher Education Factbook published by the Ministry of Higher
Education and Scientific Research. Over 120,000 students hailing from more than 150 countries are currently enrolled across schools in the UAE, each engaged in diplomas, bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programmes. But the educational landscape is expected to change as the UAE plans to step up its game and accommodate the growing number of residents. Research experts Alpen Capital notes that with an 88 per cent increase in expats, the total population in the UAE is expected to rise to 9.9
million by 2016. This means a rise in enrolments. Figures from the latest Education 2020 Conference noted that the value of the UAE’s private education sector is estimated to be around Dh7 billion. Looking ahead, the student population is also expected to rise over 150,000 by 2019. The endless opportunities and diverse multicultural environment in the UAE will continue to attract students and offer them an enticing platform to invest in their future. — farhana@khaleejtimes.com
