Reducing carbon footprint MoU signed with the Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence Imdaad is currently involved in a strategic collaboration with Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (DCCE) on greenhouse gas emission monitoring, reporting and verification in the UAE, following the signing of a recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties. The MoU is in line with the environmental aspects of Imdaad’s 2012-2017 strategic plan and complements the company’s support to Dubai's vision for a green economy. It allows Imdaad to leverage DCCE’s expertise on carbon to examine the emission reduction process across all operational areas and develop a Greenhouse Gas Inventory. The partnership also examined the best options to build a ‘Clean Energy Fund’

Environmental advocates estimate that each UAE resident generates around 2.2 kg to 2.5 kg of waste each day, making the UAE one of the world's largest per capita producers of garbage. A study by the Abu Dhabi-based Center of Waste Management (CWM) has earlier revealed that Abu Dhabi generates over 30,000 tonnes of waste daily, while a separate study showed that waste generated annually in Dubai reaches around 13.9 million tonnes. In light of the growing waste problem, Imdaad has been aggressively organising and supporting environmental campaigns such as the ‘My City, My Environment’ initiative of Dubai Municipality, leveraging the company’s extensive resources and expertise to raise greater environmental awareness and encourage different communities to take ac-

Imdaad provided power generators to address the temporary power requirements of the Dubai Swimming World Cup 2012, which was held in the first week of October at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Sports Complex in Dubai. Dubai Swimming World Cup receives Imdaad's support

Recycling for future generations Enviro Care month contributes to a better tomorrow

mdaad Environment celebrated October as an “Enviro Care” month. Throughout this period, employees recycled for the good of the environment, hence contributing to a better tomorrow. Imdaad Environment had asked its employees to participate and recycle as much as possible at office and home. DETAILS OF THE PROGRAMME WERE AS FOLLOWS: • WHERE: Imdaad Main Office Jebel Ali, Imdaad Corporate office and Imdaad Quay 10 Office

Employees brought recyclables from their home as well. • REWARD: At the end of the month, the recycled quantities were summarised. The highest collectors received exciting prizes. • WHAT WAS RECYCLED: Cardboard, paperboard, plastics, office paper, magazines and newspaper, phone books, junk mail, brown paper bags, aluminum/tin cans, toners/cartridges and electronic waste like mobile phones, batteries, laptops, printers, computers, etc. Contaminated items were not accepted.
