Theme of the Park Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, the first large-scale waterpark to be built in the UAE capital, pays homage to Emirati culture and the country’s pearl diving heritage in its theme and design, balancing an incredible and diverse ride experience alongside a truly immersive and unique story with historical roots. The theme of Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi is based around an original story about “Dana”, a young Emirati girl on a quest for the legendary pearl that had once brought prosperity to her village. All rides, slides and attractions at the park follow the adventures of Dana — the story is brought to life in a variety of ways, from the colourful characters that greet visitors on their entry to the park, to the rides, slides and attractions that are all iconic extensions of the story characters and their personalities. Yas Waterworld remains true to its theme in other ways too — the park’s main restaurants, Dana’s Diner and Chubby’s Kitchen, bring to life the story of the lost pearl through its lively and themed interiors. The restaurants offer a selection of popular dishes and drinks in a spread that will appeal to all visitors. Smaller outlets, such as Salma’s Snack Shack and Skinny’s Frozen Treats, provide refreshing snacks from frozen yogurt to fresh fruits. Together the eateries have a diverse offering that can fuel a full day of fun and

From an impressive 23-metre lift height, the vehicles dive at a speed of up to 50km/h, travelling through various splash zones, dips and climbs and curving around the central rock crag featuring the giant pearl — a defining feature of the park’s “Legend of the Lost Pearl” theme. The park is also home to Falcon’s Falaj — the longest phenomenal six-person raft ride in the Middle East, where you can bring along family and friends to enjoy the adrenaline on a 300-metre mammoth slide. Also on the list of must-try attractions is the world’s first “Rattling” waterslide: Slither’s Slides — a maze of six slides and tunnels with plenty of twists and turns heightened by spectacular special effects. Another of the park’s signature rides is Bubbles’ Barrel — the largest FlowBarrel, 10 double sheet wave ride in the world, and the first in a waterpark that packs incredible power for maximum fun for those who aspire to the board sports culture. Yas Waterworld also offers standout interactive games, including a specially designed and

developed PearlMasters Treasure Hunt. This unique experience uses cutting-edge technology to allow prospective PearlMasters to embark on a magical journey through the park, searching for lost treasure, interacting with magical creatures, firing water cannons and more. The interactive Hoyamal Pearl Dive Show allows guests to guide live divers to the oyster of their choice before having it opened in front of them to reveal a hidden pearl which can be made into a piece of jewellery — a personal and memorable souvenir of their time spent at Yas Waterworld. Besides its rides and slides, the park has many other attractions that make it a complete family destination. It enjoys an ideal location on Yas Island — alongside other great attractions such as Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Links Golf Club and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and an excellent hospitality offering — allowing it to benefit from short-stay and weekend visitors keen on having a good time. Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi has been developed taking into consideration different ages and preferences, starting with four children’s playgrounds and ending with high-adrenaline adventures for grown-ups. The park has several areas for younger children to

All the water attractions at the park are sanitised and temperature controlled all-year-round, with permanently shaded rides and queuing, dining and lounging areas for families, including exclusive rentable cabanas. Yas Waterworld is the most toddler-friendly waterpark in the Middle East with more than 15 rides, slides and attractions that are safe and fun for little ones. Yas Waterworld is respectful of the heritage of the Emirati people and in keeping with the culture and customs of the UAE and the region, the park has more than 30 cabanas to provide a sheltered and private space for some of its more conservative guests. The Park will also launch a ‘Ladies Only Evening’ this year for the comfort of its conservative women guests. The well-being of guests is also of paramount importance. The waterpark has partnered with Ellis & Associates, one of the leading international water safety and lifeguard firms, to ensure the safety and security of visitors on all rides, slides and attractions. The Park is also mindful of its environmental responsibilities and uses a variety of the latest technology and innovative techniques to boost sustainability. The entire park has been equipped with energy efficient systems and intelligent water conservation systems to reduce wastage. Abu Dhabi has a sustainability programme in place named Estidama, which promotes sustainable developments and is an important part of the Abu Dhabi 2030 plan. The park was designed utilising the criteria outlined by Estidama and will be assigned a “Pearl One” rating upon completion — the first waterpark in the Middle East to be certified with a “green” sustainability rating — Estidama One Pearl.

From the beginning, Yas Island’s operations team knew that Neptune-Benson’s Defender filter was a perfect fit for Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi. The Yas team’s leadership had previous experience with Defender’s results and understood that there was no better filter to achieve the goals set out for this leading waterpark. The water filtration systems that feed the park’s 43 rides, slides and attractions process over 9,000 m3 (2.4 million gallons) of water through 16 Defender filters. There are a number of significant advantages that Defender brings to these demanding installations. First and foremost, the park’s management team has a strong “green” mission and appreciates the water, chemical and energy conservation of the Defender technology. A detailed analysis of the various filtration systems and its requirements indicates that the Defender will allow Yas Waterworld to save more than 124,000 m3 (32 million gallons) of water per year as compared to traditional filtration methods. The Defender system will also help to reduce energy consumption and chemical use as well. Additionally, Defender’s 1-micron filtration provides exceptional water quality, helping to ensure both the safety and enjoyment of the park’s visitors. Neptune-Benson is proud of its long association with Yas Island and happy to be able to contribute to the success of its outstanding facilities.

Smartening up the Yas A Ronai LLC has been supplying uniforms to hospitality and aviation companies in the UAE for 20 years Since winning the contract to supply the uniforms to Yas Waterworld, one of the region’s leading suppliers of corporate clothing, A Ronai LLC, has worked tirelessly to develop and produce a range of garments that are not

only good to look at, but are easy to wear and practical to work in. The UAE-based company, which has been supplying uniforms to hospitality and aviation companies in the UAE for 20 years, count Dnata, Fly Dubai, Arabian Adventures and Rotana Hotels amongst its clients. From the waterpark’s managers to ride operators, maintenance teams and paramedics, a range of uniforms were designed to give the staff a cohesive look. “We worked closely with Yas Waterworld in the development of the uniforms,” explains Gavin Dodd, Managing Director, A Ronai LLC. “We looked at and sampled different fabrics and looks, until we reached styles that worked for everyone.” Using fabrics especially developed for use in corporate wear, a colour palette of navy, sky blue, stone and orange was chosen that would not only be flattering to the wide variety of

staff who will be wearing it, but also deal with the day to day rigours that a uniform is put through. When it came to decorating the garments, instead of traditional embroidery, a more contemporary solution was found. “Whilst embroidery is very popular, it’s also very overused, so we wanted to try a different approach,” says David Sprakes, Design and Production Manager. The Ronai design and development team worked with a supplier in the UK to produce exclusive heat applied transfer logos for the uniform. “We are extremely proud to once again be working on a landmark project here in the UAE,” says Dodd. “No other country in the world is as exciting to work in. The scope of people’s visions here is truly inspiring. In turn our customers’ ambitions inspire us to provide them uniforms and a level of service to match their amazing projects.”

From outstanding leaders come outstanding results.

Congratulations!
