Practicum FOUR Report CREMF Marrakech English Department Group 2 Teacher Trainee : Khalid Touile Host Schools : Abdellah Ibrahim High School, Lmhamid Duration : Three weeks (from 29th December 2014 to 17th January 2015) Colleagues: Elhoucein Elasri, Ismail Ouani, Lamya Toubati and Hind Elamrani For the first time, we are where we are supposed to be doing what we are supposed to do. During the first week which was all devoted to observation as required of us from the English department, my colleagues and I have accomplished other tasks in addition to the official ones assigned at the observation period. To keep track with the learners study rhythm, we explored some of their lesson copybooks as well as exercise books, monitored their work during instruction. Besides, we corrected their homework assignments and familiarized ourselves with their learning methods. Thanks to these procedures, we felt instant involvement in the classroom life in particular and school life in general. Before the next teaching weeks, my colleagues and I sat and decided on how to conduct our teaching periods following both the CRMEF instructions and the host teacher recommendations. We resorted to the same task distribution strategy/criteria we adopted last time • Coordinated planning • Gender equity in session/class assigning • Opportunity to teach more than one level per each trainee • Opportunity to teach more than one language area per each trainee • Sharing materials • Flexibility The plan went successfully as scheduled. While performing or discussing, the trainee teachers demonstrated: • Well-preparedness • Active listening to comments and feedback • Constructive criticism • Team Spirit and synergy • Self-confidence turned out better than last practicum • Time-setting. • Flexibility Because of the length of this practicum, I managed, as it is the case with my colleagues, to build better rapport with the learners. The same applies to the administration staff especially that we took part in some extra-curricular activities through “Arts and Creativity Club”. In this club framework, we helped facilitating its activities and documenting its highlight moments. This opportunity introduced a new aspect of the teachers’ lives to us.
