ERGONOMICS How big are spaces for certain functions? How do you provide wheelchair access etc. Record examples Supermarket workers health: This research was undertaken to evaluate health and safety problems in supermarkets, identify risk factors, and develop intervention strategies. The study population included all workers except managers and cashiers: assistant cashiers, bakers, produce clerks, grocery clerks, delicatessen clerks, butchers, bakery wrappers, and fish mongers. Musculoskeletal injuries accounted for 63% of all reported occupational injuries, and almost half of the population had suffered such injuries in the seven days preceding the study. Exposure to risk factors was estimated, taking into account each employee's time budget (hours per week). Statistically significant associations were observed between some risk factors and musculoskeletal problems. Task analysis indicated that the most important determinants of risk factors were architecture, furniture, workplace layout and organizational factors. The pattern of results, including an analysis of the company's organization and business position (obtained through semi-open interviews), suggests that integrating ergonomics considerations into the planning of supermarket renovation or design is the most promising intervention strategy.

LUBLU USA - Bruce Russo TYPE -Commercial › Retail YEAR -2013 Lublu fashion boutique in Preston Centre Plaza My Opinion This exterior of this store Is very simple but the interior is more interesting. I like the tables which is used to present t shirts because the legs on the table is a triangle shape which gives a unique effect to the overall store.

LIGHTSHED-INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE
Fashion Studio Brooklyn, US 11211 TYPE- Commercial YEAR-2010
I love the colour scheme / combination (red, white). The final ouch of the dark brown laminated floor contrast very well with the red
The windows are very unique as they combine very well together due to the opaque squares and transparent window.
My Opinion The main thing I love about this store is the colour scheme / combination (red, white). The final ouch of the dark brown laminated floor contrast very well with the red. The windows are very unique as they combine very well together due to the opaque squares and transparent window. The transparent windows give a very soft effect to the lights which gives the overall store a glow and warm effect.
This is a very smart was of hanging and presenting items of clothing.

TYPE -Commercial › Retail YEAR-2009 clothes shop My Opinion – The first thing that catches my eye when I look at this store is the grass. The composition of the grass and the white background is very contrast based and that’s why I get the attention of the view of the grass, However I think this is a very smart way of presenting a store because then it will attract more customers with this view. Another thing I love and find very smart is the hand rail is used as hangers. This is a very smart was of hanging and presenting items of clothing.

FASHION RESEARCH Light above mannequin to seek more attention and add effectiveness Support from the ceiling
Metal wired material
During the trip , I was walking around and found this mannequin handing from the ceiling wearing costume that was made out of metal wires. I liked the idea of the mannequin hanging from the ceiling because it’s a great and unique was of advertising clothing and where as I am doing the fashion supermarket brief I think I may include something like this in my building.

ART WORK IN THE SCIENCE MUSEUM I really like the curvy, swirly, repetitive patterns. The overlay patterns give a very unique look.
WHAT IT REMINDS ME OF
The shapes and outline of this piece of work reminds me of water droplets because of the round, curvy edges.
I really liked this piece of art work because of many reasons. I loved the curvy , spiral shapes because I find these kind of shapes unique and modern to the buildings we have today, however the fact the patterns are repeated and overlaid with different materials makes the building more attractive to look at.
SIANG CHING About Siang Ching - Siang Ching is a
Singapore-based graphic designer and illustrator. She graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts with a Diploma in Visual Communication, and also gained a First Class Honors Bachelors degree in Design Communication from the LASALLE College of the Arts. Ching is the founder of pattern matters who focus on patterns and the handmade aspects of graphic design, which is perfectly depicted in the above info graphic.
Similar outline shape and 3D effect.
I love the type of concept and style of this graphic designers work. I love the 3D triangles she uses in her work. The shape relates to the type of design and shape of the art work from the science museum (previous slide).
STUCTURE AND SHAPE When designing my model building I firstly started by designing the structure and shape. So I firstly got some thick paper and bended it to the shape I wanted my building (which was a curvy S shape). After I done that , I needed my model building to balance and the end because there was no support what so ever , so I pierced two holes and got two even straws and pierced it through the hole.
IDEAS AND INSPRATION I wanted to achieve the similar curves from the Art work in the science museum, So I got sheets on 3 different coloured cards and overlayed them in the same shape of the art work to give a sense of thickness and repetitive pattern.
V&A building From the edge of this building this is where I got the idea of the arrow effect for my main sketch building
When I saw this building , I really liked the shape and simplicity of it.
This building I designed is very detailed with repetitive lines and arrows. I was aiming to create hypnotising patterns so this will get the viewers and shoppers attention to the store. I got the idea from a model building I saw in the V&A from the straight, basic, pointy lines on the edges of the model.
YIZI ZHENG
ABOUT HER AND HER WORK The concept of dimensionality—the viewer’s perception of a flat image versus a raised surface—is explored in 2D/3D, a series of 5 posters by the Chinese-born, London-based graphic designer Yizi Zheng. Zheng has created an intricate geometric relief crafted from a single sheet of white paper, a faceted repeat-pattern that allows the viewer to experience the composition from varying angles. In the next poster, a single purple circle is imposed onto the white relief, illustrating clearly that the flat circle can be seen in its entirety only when viewed from a single vantage point. The subsequent 3 posters show the circle enlarging gradually, until it encompass the entire surface area of the poster. The final poster shows the geometric composition in its original form, transformed by color now, but ready to be viewed again from any angle.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER:YIZI ZHENG
This graphic artist relates and inspires my building with the 3D edges, pointed concept. The repetative triangle shapes

The edges on the building inspired me to create similar points and 3D arrow points on my model
DEPTH , SHAPE AND STRUCTURE From the previous model I made, instead of having it leaned upwards, I tilted it down and I thought it worked very well as a building. From viewing Yizi Zhengs work, I got inspired to add mini 3D triangles on my building as it gave a good sense of depth
Mini 3d triangle I made.
YIZI ZHENG INSPIRED BUILDING
I love everything about this vase. I like the shape , repetitive patterns , colours, and structure. The shape is really unique because it starts of small and then gets bigger and then gets thinner again. Along with that the patterns expand or get thinner as it goes on with the structure. Another thing I like is the tip of it because it ends with a thin shape which gives a very nice effect to the structure of the overall shape.

MARIA GROENLUND A graphic designer with specialty in branding, corporate identity, digital art, design, and colors.
Some sketches I drew
FORMING SHAPES WITH CURVES
From analysing Maria Groenlund work, I decided to draw a couple sketches and form curvy , bendy shapes with foam board.
CATWALK IDEA During forming curvy shapes I instantly got and idea to Where the models will walk down form an outdoor catwalk as part of my Fashion supermarket. I thought this would be a great idea to advertise Curvy clothing.
shape inspired by Maria Bench where people can sit Groenlund

Practice version of my idea
I really wanted to create something similar to Yizi Zhengs work, So I was working around the triangular based shapes.
