Understanding Entrance & Monthly Fees
UNDERSTANDING ENTRANCE FEES
An entrance fee is a one-time, upfront payment made by residents
Seafields at Kiawah Island offers two types of entrance fees:
to guarantee lifetime use of their residence and primary access to advanced levels of care if, and when, needs increase. At Seafields at Kiawah Island, this grants access to our full continuum of care with our modified Lifecare benefit: 40% discount off market rate for assisted living after 90 days free, and a 20% discount off skilled nursing care for 365 days. This provides residents with peace of mind regarding potential future care costs. Additionally, entrance fees tend to fund capital improvements in the Life Plan Community, helping to ensure that new amenities, programs, and services can be added on a consistent basis to further enhance the Seafields lifestyle. Additionally, entrance fees are used to pay annual debt service and build cash reserves for the non-profit.
OPTION 1: 90% REFUNDABLE If a resident moves out or passes away, 90% of the entrance fee will return to their estate once their unit is resold. This is a popular choice based on its use as an estate planning tool.
OPTION 2: 0% REFUND These entrance fees are available at a reduced price. There is no rebate/refund given in the event that a resident moves out or passes away.
