Združevanje, sodelovanje Collaboration, joining forces Mednarodni festival računalniških umetnosti (MFRU) devetnajstič. Mednarodni festival KIBLIX dvanajstič. Letos tretjič združena oblikujeta vsebine sodobne umetnosti, znanosti in inovativne uporabe novih tehnologij. Živimo v času, ko informacije predstavljajo tržno vrednost, komunikacijske tehnologije so produkcijska orodja, znanstvene raziskave postajajo del našega vsakdanjega življenja, kreiramo vzporedne svetove in jih mešamo med seboj, digitaliziramo naš vsakdanjik. Bolj kot kdaj koli sta čas in prostor relativna. Temu pravimo razvoj. In prav to dejstvo je pripeljalo do sodelovanja dveh institucij – Mladinskega kulturnega centra Maribor in Kulturno izobraževalnega društva KIBLA – z namenom razvijati odprto, skupno produkcijsko in vsebinsko platformo, namenjeno predstavljanju sodobne umetnosti, sooblikovanju in ponujanju različnih modelov izobraževanja, izmenjavi znanja, idej in inovativnih rešitev, povezovanju umetnikov, znanstvenikov, inženirjev, kreativcev, študentov, šolarjev, upokojencev, invalidov, ranljivih skupin iz vsega sveta, namenjeno vam. MFRU-KIBLIX je koncept prihodnosti, ki ponuja aktivno participacijo posameznika in ga s tem transformira iz pasivnega obiskovalca v aktivnega udeleženca. S tem gre za edinstven dogodek, ki mestu Maribor in širši regiji ponuja številne nove rešitve, pomembne za razvoj posameznika in družbe, zastavlja vprašanja, ponuja odgovore, provocira in motivira. MFRU-KIBLIX je globalni happening, kjer nacionalna pripadnost, barva kože, rasa, spolna usmerjenost, politično prepričanje niso pomembni. Pomembno je zavedanje, da sta združevanje in sodelovanje globalni model prihodnosti in neizogibna za lokalno sobivanje. Soodvisnost drug od drugega bo vedno bolj prijetna, ko bomo spoznali, da smo skupaj celota. ENG It’s the nineteenth edition of the International Festival of Com-
puter Arts (MFRU) and the twelfth edition of KIBLIX International Festival. This year, joined together for the third time, they combine contents related to contemporary art, science and innovative technology uses. We live in a time where information is market value and communication technologies act as production tools; scientific research is becoming a part of our daily lives, we create parallel worlds and fuse them; our daily routines are becoming increasingly digitalized. Today more than ever, time and space are relative. It’s what we call progress. And this is the fact that led to the collaboration between two institutions: Mladinski Kulturni Center and KIBLA, with the goal of developing an open, joint production and content platform designed to present contemporary art, to construct and offer various education models, to exchange knowledge, ideas and innovative solutions, to connect artists, scientists, engineers, creators, students, pensioners, the disabled and vulnerable groups from around the globe… designed for you! MFRU-KIBLIX is a concept of the future that offers active participation to individuals, transforming them from passive visitors into active participants. As such it is a unique event, offering to Maribor and the wider region numerous new perspectives, which are important for the development of the individual and the society; asking questions, providing answers, provoking and motivating. MFRU-KIBLIX is a global happening where nationality, race, sexual orientation and political beliefs are of no significance. What matters is the awareness that joining forces and collaborating is a global model of the future and an undeniable asset to local co-existence. Mednarodni festival računalniških umetnosti MFRU (v organizaciji MKC Maribor) se v Sloveniji ponaša z devetnajstletno tradicijo. Z odpiranjem prostora računalniških umetnosti ter privabljanjem širokega spektra interdisciplinarnih gostov skrbi za ustrezno umestitev digitalnih in intermedijskih umetnosti pri nas. Družno z Multimedijskim centrom KIBLA orje ledino na področju razvoja novih medijev ter povezovanja različnih umetniških in tehnoloških disciplin. Povezovalni naziv festivala MFRU-KIBLIX2013 “Ko svetovi trčijo” si naslov sposoja iz klasike znanstveno-fantasičnega filma “When Worlds Collide” iz leta 1951. Simbolika filma poudarja razdvojenost, paradoks prepada med razvitim in nerazvitim tretjim svetom. Festival v tem kontekstu simbolizira živo naravo, realnost, v kateri živimo, ki je prepletena in odvisna od bliskovitega razvoja znanosti, tehnologije in, posledično, umetnosti, da ji je danes že nemogoče slediti. MFRU-KIBLIX2013 predstavlja most med teoretskimi in praktičnimi vsebinami intermedijskih umetnosti. Povezuje jih z digitalnimi mediji, znanstvenimi dosežki, tehnološkimi novostmi. Spodbuja interaktivno sodelovanje različnih smeri digitalnih umetnosti ter njihovo integracijo v praktično, torej produkcijsko ali pedagoško okolje. Med 6. in 9. novembrom 2013 bo potekal aktivni del festivala z delavnicami, ki jih bodo vodili mentorji, profesorji robotike, elektrotehnike, elektronike in strojništva ter študentje, dijaki in učenci ter tudi umetniki sami. Zvrstile se bodo zaključne okrogle mize delavnic, predstavitve, pogovori z umetniki in predavanja. Festival spremlja razstava sodelujočih umetnikov in njihovih svetov, ki bo na ogled do 25. novembra 2013 v razstavišču KIBLA Portala. Zvrstili se bodo tudi sprostitveni dogodki z Gaming Loungeom in vsakodnevnim DJ in VJ zaključkom. ENG MFRU (The International Festival of Computer Arts), organized
by MKC – Youth Cultural Center Maribor, proudly represents itself with this year’s nineteenth edition. By opening space to computer arts and attracting a wide specter of interdisciplinary guests, MFRU provides for appropriate localization of digital and intermedia arts in Slovenia. Jointly with Multimedia center KIBLA, it is breaking new grounds in the fields of new media development and interconnecting of various artistic and technological disciplines. An integrative denomination of the festival MFRUKIBLIX2013 “When worlds collide” derives from the 1951’s classic science fiction movie of the same name. The Symbolism of the movie emphasizes separation, the paradox of a gap between the developed and underdeveloped Third world. In this respect, it symbolizes the living nature, reality in which we live in and is closely tied to and dependant on the swift development of science, technology and consequently art, making it impossible for us to keep up with it promptly. MFRU-KIBLIX2013 represents a bridge between the theoretical and practical content of intermedia arts, associating them with digital media, scientific achievements and technological novelties. It stimulates interactive cooperation of different approaches to digital arts, as well as their integration into practical, namely productive and pedagogical environment. The active part of the festival will take place between 6th and 9th of November; it will consist of workshops held by mentors, professors of robotics, electronics, electrical and mechanical engineering, as well as students, pupils and artists themselves. Workshops’ final round tables, presentations, artists’ talks and lectures will round up the festival’s workshop section. Festival will also be accompanied by an exhibition of participating artists and their worlds which will be on display until 25th of November at KIBLA portal. Finally, a Gaming Lounge and daily DJ and VJ performances will enrich the festival as well, bringing a more relaxed ambience to the vibrant venue. Nina Jeza

Mundus vade ... Sodobne interdisciplinarne oblike umetniških snovanj se prepletajo v kompleksnih spojih različnih pristopov, v napetosti med živimi organizmi in kognitivnim, naravnim in bio-tehnološkim, virtualnim in hibridnim, lažnim in resničnim principom – odpira se nov kreativni svet, ustvarja se nova družbena zavest. Po eni strani se soočamo s povečavami v scenarije najmanjših delcev in s pomanjšavami v vesoljske razsežnosti. Po drugi strani poskušamo rešiti nasprotujoče si tendence družbenih odnosov in probleme preživetja eksponencialno naraščajoče vrste homo sapiens. Kultura in znanost kot panogi se prepletata ter pri tem na konstruktiven način izmenjujeta kulturne modele kritičnega razmišljanja, aktivizma in eksperimentiranja z znanstvenimi metodami, raziskovalnim delom in znanjem. Pramodele, na primer človek, kri, zvok, glas, telo, snov, spomin in tako naprej, ustvarjalci kodirajo s sodobnimi interdisciplinarnimi mediji in z nenehno spreminjajočo se zavestjo o najmanjših delcih, o samem sebi, o živih bitjih, planetarnih spremembah, preživetjem in razsežnostjo vesolja. Ali se razumevanje prapočel, prisotnih v človekovi zavesti že tisočletja, spreminja? Ali ostajajo v naši spremenjeni zavesti istovetna? ENG Contemporary interdisciplinary forms of artistic conceptions are
intertwined inside complex junctions of different worlds and approaches, in the tension between living organisms and the cognitive, the natural and the bio-technological, the virtual and the hybrid, the fake and the genuine principle – a new creative world is opened; a new social awareness is created. On one hand we are faced with magnifications of smallest parts and minimizations of space dimensions. On the other hand, we are trying to solve opposing social relations tendencies and survival problems related to the exponentially growing Homo sapiens species. Culture and science intertwine as disciplines, constructively exchanging cultural models of critical thinking, activism and experimentation with scientific methods, research and knowledge. Archaic models such as man, blood, sound, voice, body, matter, memory and so on are coded by creators using contemporary interdisciplinary media and a constantly changing awareness about smallest elementary particles, about themselves and other living creatures, about planetary changes, survival and vastness of the universe. Is the understanding of ancient principles that have been a part of the human psyche for thousands of years changing? Or do they remain unchanged inside our altered consciousness? Aleksandra Kostič

Vsebine letošnjega festivala KIBLIX 2013, KO SVETOVI TRČIJO se dotikajo nekaterih reprezentativnih ravni, ki smo jih skušale zaobjeti v konceptu, poimenovanem ne_NARAVNO. Naše stališče do izbranih vsebin presega dualizem narava – kultura, saj z njim želimo razpreti gledišče, ki dekonstruira norme participatornega razumevanja različnih oblik življenja zato znotraj mnogih konstruiranih družbenih imperativov evociramo razmislek o meddisciplinarnih možnostih za (so)bivanje biosa in techne. Ker naravo dojemamo kot interdisciplinarno polje bioloških, kulturnih in družbenih fenomenov, želimo zaradi te paradigme pojmu “nenaravno” priskrbeti širši mentalni okvir, znotraj katerega ta dobi novo razumevanje in drugačne poudarke. Umetnost in humanizem sta tu prisotna v izbiri zornega kota, v meddisciplinarnem pogledu na interakcijo pojmov naravnega in nenaravnega. Tako imenovane biofobne paradigme vzpodbujajo mnoge interpretacije, ki posledično lahko privedejo do vznika različnih ideologij. Umetniški cilj v tem primeru ni zgolj v znanstvenem raziskovanju bioloških fenomenov, ampak predvsem v preizpraševanju koncepta in paradigem o problematiki odnosa do narave skozi širšo (družbeno) perspektivo. Na drugi strani tovrstna problematika iz postantropocentrične perspektive razpira razmislek o kontekstu časovnih razsežnosti, znotraj katerih se med drugim lahko sprašujemo o (ne)obstoju lastne vrste v najširšem smislu. Miselni okvir izven tistega, kjer naravne in nenaravne imperative spremlja strah pred neznanim, se torej nagiba k spraševanju o načinih sobivanja z različnimi fenomeni živega. ENG The contents of this year’s festival KIBLIX 2013, WHEN WORLDS
COLLIDE concern some representative levels, which we tried to encompass in a concept entitled un_NATURAL. Our stand towards the selected contents transcends the nature-culture dualism, because we wish to use it to widen the view that deconstructs some of the norms related to the participatory understanding of various life forms, which is why we want to evoke – inside numerous constructed social imperatives – a reflection on the interdisciplinary possibilities for the (co)existence of bios and techne. Because we perceive nature as an interdisciplinary field of biological, cultural and social phenomena, we wish to provide the concept of “unnatural” with a broader mental frame, inside which it receives a new understanding and different emphases. Here, art and humanism are present in the choice of viewpoint; in an interdisciplinary perspective on the interaction between concepts of natural and unnatural. The so-called “biophobic” paradigms trigger a number of interpretations that can in turn lead to the formation of different ideologies. The artistic goal in this case is not merely related to the scientific research of biological phenomena, but mainly to a requestioning of the concept and paradigms concerning the attitude towards nature through a broader (social) perspective. On the other hand these issues, from a post-anthropocentric perspective, inspire a consideration about the context of temporal dimensions, inside which, among other things, we can ask ourselves about the (non)existence of our own species in the broadest sense. The thinking frame outside the area where natural and unnatural imperatives are accompanied by a fear of the unknown is therefore leaning towards examining ways of coexistence with different phenomena of the living. TANIA CANDIANI (MX) Five Variations of Phonic Circumstances and a Pause / Pet variacij foničnih okoliščin in pavza Orgle, Klavirski avtomati, Zvočne zgodbe Organ, Pianolas, Sound Stories Pet “poetičnih dejanj, z ozirom na stroje” se z veliko mero tankočutnosti ukvarja z vprašanjem, kako so tehnologije vseh časov narekovale odnose med ustnim sporočanjem in pismenostjo ter posledično ustvarile razmerja moči. Vsako izmed del je del širšega diskurza, ki se nanaša na kulturo poslušanja: slišno, akustične tehnologije, gestikulacija pripovedi ter slišna tekstura glasu. Naprave, ki sestavljajo umetniško delo Pet variacij foničnih okoliščin in pavza so zastavljene kot mehanizmi, posebej namenjeni obdelavi zvokov ali natančneje foničnih okoliščin. Namen naprav je prevod in interpretacija zvočnih dogodkov – hrupov, verbalne komunikacije, branja, pripovedi, mrmranja, skrivnosti, glasbe – tako, da jih spreminjajo iz enega foničnega registra v drugega ter jih pretvarjajo v besedila in kode. Uvrstimo jih lahko nekje

med znanstveno fantastiko, viktorijanske parne stroje ter najsodobnejšo umetno inteligenco in tehnologije za urejanje besedil. Pet variacij se nanaša na različne transformacije modelov in formatov komunikacije, ki ustvarjajo napetost v odnosu med znanstvenim znanjem in človeškim faktorjem ter dodatno poudarjajo izkušnjo odtujenosti, prisotno v širokem obsegu sodobnih medijev. Kateri del črke je nosilec njenega zvoka? V katerem delu glasbene note prebiva glasba? Je glasba jezik? Ali lahko, kadar govorimo o poeziji, govorimo o sistemu? Tania Candiani (Mexico City, 1974) je prejemnica štipendije Guggenheim scholarship v kategoriji ustvarjalnih umetnosti ter sodelavka mehiškega nacionalnega ustvarjalnega združenja Mexican National System of Creators od leta 2012.
ENG Five “poetic actions in regard to machines” draw with great sen-
sitivity how technologies of all times have dictated relationships between orality and literacy, and created subsequent relationships of power. Each work is part of a discourse surrounding the culture of listening: the audible, acoustic technologies, the gesticulation of narration, the audible texture of the voice. The machines of Five Variations on Phonic Circumstances and a Pause are constituted as mechanisms whose particular use is processing sounds or, more precisely, phonic circumstances. The machines' goal is to translate and interpret sound events – noises, orality, readings, narrations, murmurs, secrets, music – by changing them from one phonic register to another, transmuting them into text and code. These devices, lie somewhere between science fiction, Victorian steam technology and the latest artificial intelligence and word processing technologies. The five variations refer constantly to a number of communications model and format transformations that create tension in the relationship between scientific knowledge and the human factor and additionally emphasize the dislocation experience present in contemporary media´s expansive range. What part of a letter bears its sound? In what part of a musical note does the music reside? Is music a language? Can you speak of a code when speaking of poetry? Tania Candiani (Mexico City, 1974) is a Guggenheim scholarship fellow in the Creative Arts category and she is part of the Mexican National System of Creators since 2012.

KATHY HIGH (US) Blood Wars / Krvne vojne Projekt Blood Wars raziskuje biološke reakcije v obliki tekmovanja med človeškimi belimi krvničkami. Poglablja se v kulturološko in znanstveno zgodovino krvi kot elementa, ki ima tako humanistične in celo nacionalistične, kot tudi naravoslovne in biološke lastnosti. Potek projekta je zasnovan v obliki nadidentifikacije – kot svetovno prvenstvo, turnir, v katerem t. i. celični zmagovalec prejme celo pokal! Participacija posameznika v tekmovanju evocira boljše razumevanje procesov krvnih celic v telesu in delovanja imunskega sistema, v vsebinskem smislu pa se vzpostavi kot kritika imperativov kot sta kult zdravja in večne mladosti. Kathy High je interdisciplinarna umetnica iz New Yorka, ki trenutno deluje na področju živih sistemov, živali ter biologije in umetnosti.
ENG Blood Wars explores biological reactions in the form of a real
tournament between different individuals’ white blood cells. It deals with the culturological and scientific history of blood as an element that has humanistic and even nationalistic, as well as natural science and biological characteristics. The course of the project is conceived in the form of super-identification – as a world championship, a tournament in which the so-called cell winner even receives a cup! Participating individuals in the competition will help to a better understanding of the processes of blood cells in the human body and the functioning of the immune system, while in terms of content it stands as a critique of imperatives such as the cult of health and eternal youth. NITSAN HOORGIN, JULIAN RUIZ, INBAL COHEN (IL) “Design your city”, 2013 (Inštitut za tehnologijo Holon / Holon Institute of Technology HIT) Gre za platformo, ki meščanom omogoča izražanje želja za njihovo mesto: osvetljena površina, vrsta preprostih miniaturnih predmetov in material za ustvarjanje novih (papir, škarje). Uporabnik izbere predmet in ga umesti na površino. Zaslon sočasno prikazuje oblikovanju namenjeno površino ter predmete na njej. Uporabnik prosto kreira podobo mesta, na koncu lahko s preprostim pritiskom na gumb svojo različico mesta shrani v pomnilnik raznovrstnih in zanimivih dizajnov. Nitsan Hoorgin je dodiplomski študent industrijskega oblikovanja na Holonskem tehnološkem inštitutu. Predstavlja se s platformo, ki jo je kot svoj zaključni projekt razvil v okviru seminarja v interaktivnem laboratoriju Holonškega tehnološkega inštituta.
ENG This is a post that allows citizens to express their wishes for their
city. The platform has an illuminated surface, a bank of miniature objects and some papers, scissors and markers for creating other miniature objects. The user chooses an object and decides where to place it in the surface. A screen is showing the designintended area in real-life and the objects are shown on the screen. The user can “play” with his/her designs until is satisfied and by simply pressing a button the offer is saved in a bank of different and interesting designs. Nitsan Hoorgin is currently a B. Des Industrial Design student at Holon Institute of Technology. His project was developed as a final project within the IDHO course at Holon Institute of Technology.

MAŠA JAZBEC (SI) Apparatus Monolith / Aparat Monolit, 2013 Interaktivna instalacija / Interactive installation Izhodišče projekta je v združevalnem interakcijskem konceptu, ki se izrazi v digitalnem mediju. Principi njegovega delovanja so manipulacija, digitalizacija, aktivatizacija in mreženje. Uporabniško orodje instalacije je konstruirano sproti, pri čemer je ključni postopek interakcija med posameznikom in Monolitom. Tehnološka produkcija je razvojna: ko iz procesa izločimo element trenutka in ga nato s poudarkom izolirano izpostavimo, nagovarjamo mistično dimenzijo odtujitve, ki razkriva magično komponento digitalnega postopka. Represija nad mislijo se spremeni v fluid omrežja, s čimer lahko digitalnost podobe postane predmet njene permanentne manipulacije. Maša Jazbec zaključuje podiplomski študij novih medijev na linški Univerzi za umetnost in design. Deluje na področju videa in interaktivnih instalacij, aktivno sodeluje tudi pri izvedbi ter organizaciji kulturnega programa Trbovlje – novomedijsko mesto v Delavskem domu Trbovlje. Je ustanovna članica umetniške skupine V.A.T. (Vizualna alternativa Trbovlje).
ENG The project’s baseline is set as the concept of a unifying interac-
tion, striving to express itself in a digital medium. Apparatus Monolith functions on the principles of manipulation, digitalization, activation and networking. The key process is the interaction between an individual and the Monolith, while installation’s user tools are being created on the spot. Technological production contains a development component: when we eliminate the element of time from the process and re-expose it as an isolated item, we address the mystical dimension of alienation which reveals the magical component of a digital procedure. Repression of individualistic thinking is transformed into fluid networks; consequently, user’s digital image may become subject to its permanent manipulation. Maša Jazbec is completing her postgraduate studies of New Media at the Linz University of Art and Design. She works in the field of video and interactive installations, taking an active part in the implementation and organization of the cultural program Trbovlje – New Media City at the Labour Home of Trbovlje. She is a founding member of the art group V.A.T. (Visual alternative Trbovlje).

Karl Heinz Jeron (DE) Dingliebe / Ljubezen do stvari Love of Things, 2011 Zvočna instalacija / Sound instalation Dingliebe govori o refleksiji, zaznavanju in tekmovanju med dvema kompleksnima jezikoma. Prvi je jezik znanosti, drugi pa jezik umetnosti, ki mora razumeti znanost, čeprav ne želi postati znanost. Ideje o tem, kaj dobra znanost je ali kaj naj bi bila, ter podobe znanosti in znanstvenosti, so težko razumljiva vprašanja, ki pa niso zaradi svoje kompleksnosti nič manj pomembna. V instalaciji se glede na uporabljene materiale spreminjajo zvoki, njihova barva in glasnost. Na ta način se iz najosnovnejših elementov oblikujejo improvizirane glasbene skladbe. Zvočna instalacija se navezuje na koncept aleatorične glasbe, ki temelji na naključju in improvizaciji, izvajajo pa jo umetniki kot so John Cage, Pierre Boulez ter Iannis Xenakis. Karl Heinz Jeron se je rodil leta 1962 v mestu Memmingen, Nemčija. Živi in dela v Berlinu. Od leta 1999 je član strokovnega združenja likovnih umetnikov Berlinu. Od leta 2000 do 2006 je bil profesor na berlinski univerzi za umetnost. Od leta 2004 je član nemškega združenja umetnikov.
ENG Dingliebe (Love of Things) is about reflection, perception and the
competition between two languages mediating complexity. One is science. The other one is the language of art which has to understand science but doesn‘t want to become it. The idea of what good science is or should be, the images of science and scientificity, are difficult to grasp but no less significant for it. According to the materials used, the sound, the colour of the sound and the volume of the sound are varied. Thus, an improvised piece of music is created from the most simple parts. The sound installation refers to the concept of aleatory music, based on aspects of chance and improvisation, as used by John Cage, Pierre Boulez, and Iannis Xenakis. Karl Heinz Jeron was born in 1962 in Memmingen, Germany. He lives and works in Berlin. Since 1999, Jeron has been a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists Berlin. From 2000 to 2006 he was a lecturer at the Berlin University of Arts. Since 2004 Member of the German Association of Artists.

Karl Heinz Jeron (DE) Serendipity / Srečno naključje, 2013 Večkanalna video instalacija z digitalnimi slikovnimi okvirji Multichannel video installation with digital picture frames Serendipity govori o srečnem naključju, ko najdemo nekaj dobrega ali uporabnega, ne da bi to načrtno iskali. Projekt se torej ukvarja z resnično, pravo naključnostjo. V nasprotju z generatorji psevdonaključnih števil je uporabljena Zener dioda, ki ustvarja resnična naključna števila. Diodin hrup lahko tako s pridom uporabimo kot vir resnične slučajnosti, poleg tega pa je poceni tudi sama konstrukcija. Prav tako je preprosta podatkovna zbirka, ki se obdeluje s pomočjo računalniške zvočne kartice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avalanche_diode). Vsi izdelki tega projekta (besedila, podobe, zvoki) temeljijo na resničnih naključnih številih. V instalaciji se glede na naključna števila spreminjajo zvoki, njihova barva in glasnost. ENG Serendipity deals with the accident of finding something good or
useful while not specifically searching for it. This project is about true coincidence. As opposed to Pseudo-Random Number Generators a Zener diode is used to create true random numbers. It is easy to use the diode noise as a source of true randomness and inexpensive to construct. The data collection is equally simple through a computer sound-card http://en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/Avalanche_diode. All output (texts, images, sounds) of this project is based on true random numbers. According to the random numbers, the sound, the colour of the sound and the volume of the sound are varied. Thus, an improvised piece of music is created.

YURI KLEBANOV, ROI RONN, YONATAN BEN YA’KOV (IL) Smilefection, 2013 (Akademija za umetnost in oblikovanje Bezalel / Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Givat Ram Institute) Smilefection predstavlja nalezljivo naravo smeha. Uporabnik si ogleda diaprojekcijo nasmejanih obrazov. V trenutku, ko se ob določenem nasmehu tudi sam nasmehne, kamera posname fotografijo, ki postane del diaprojekcije. Z analizo podatkov je mogoče prikazati obseg “smejalne epidemije” in oceniti uporabnike na podlagi nalezljivosti nasmeha. Tovrstna atomizacija videnja ustvarja povratno zanko z “realnim svetom”, ki se aktivira z našo reakcijo na videno. Yuri Klebanov je interaktivni oblikovalec, igralec in tehnološki “odvisnik”. Končal je dodiplomski študij oblikovanja s področja vizualnih komunikacij na Akademiji za umetnost in oblikovanje Bezalel v Jeruzalemu. Roi Ronn je razvijalec in tehnološki entuziast iz Tel Aviva. Zaključuje dodiplomski študij računalniških ved na Hebrejski univerzi v Jeruzalemu, sočasno je zaposlen v podjetju, usmerjenemu k spletni varnosti.
ENG Smilefection is a showcase of the infectious nature of smiling.
The user is presented with a slideshow of smiling faces. The moment the user is “infected” by one of the smiles appearing on the screen and smiles himself, a webcam snaps a photo and his smiling face becomes a part of the slideshow. Simple data analysis can then show the expansion of the “Smiles Epidemic”, and rate our users by the contagiousness of their smile. The atomization of vision in this respect creates a feedback loop with the “real world”, activated by our reaction to what we see. Yuri Klebanov is an interactive designer, gamer and a technology addict. He holds a B. Des in Visual Communications from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. Roi Ronn is a developer and technology enthusiast based in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Roi is about to finish a B.Sc. in Computer Science at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and earns his living by working in a cyber-security oriented startup.

Generativna zvočno-svetlobna instalacija uteleša kompleksne teorije sistemov, zasnovane na konceptih in procesih kot sta pojavnost in samo-organizacija. Instalacija temelji na modelih iz različnih področij znanosti, filozofije, biologije, računalništva ter študij umetne inteligence (celični avtomati, nevralne mreže, kibernetika ...) Instalacija raziskuje sonične in kompozicijske možnosti omenjenih konceptov s pomočjo mreže “modulov-delcev”, ki so v interakciji med seboj in z okoljem. Vsak “modul-delec” sledi preprostim individualnim pravilom, vendar zmore v kombinaciji z drugimi generirati tudi kompleksnejše in bolj zapletene vzorce. Oscar Martin (aka Noish) (1977) je eksperimentalni umetnik in neodvisni raziskovalec ter programer, ki deluje na področjih zvočne umetnosti, interaktivnih in generativnih sistemov ter spletne radijske umetnosti. Je zagovornik principa odprte kode.
ENG This generative sound-light installation embodies complex sys-
tems theories based on concepts and processes such as emergency and self-organization. The installation bases on models taken from various fields of science, philosophy, biology, computer science and the study of artificial intelligence (cellular automata, neural networks, cybernetics…) The installation explores the sonic and compositional possibilities of these concepts, using a network of “modules-particles” that interact with each other and the environment. Each “module-particle” follows simple individual rules, but is able to generate more complex and sophisticated patterns when combined with the others. Oscar Martin (aka Noish) (1977) is an experimental artist and independent researcher and programmer working in the fields of sound art, interactive and generative systems and net radioart. He is an opensource advocate.

TIAGO MARTINS, R. O'NASCIMENTO, A. ZINGERLE (PT) Headbang Hero, 2009 Headbang Hero je satirična ritmična videoigra, pri kateri se uporablja brezžična lasulja z detektorjem gibanja za ugotavljanje igralčeve uspešnosti, medtem ko slednji silovito stresa z glavo kot znak uživanja ob heavy metal glasbi. Headbang Hero je videoigra, ki vaše junaške zmožnosti čupiranja preizkuša s heroično brezskrbnostjo do vašega zdravja. Na sebi imate posebno lasuljo, ki zaznava gibanje, za odločno in pravočasno čupiranje na silovite akorde muzike še težje od metala pa ste nagrajeni s točkami. Ob koncu igre se vam natisne poročilo, ki vsebuje podatke o vaši uspešnosti, o obsegu dejanske škode, ki ste jo utrpeli med igranjem, in nekaj dvomljivih, a prijaznih nasvetov. Tiago Martins nadaljuje izobraževanje na Fakulteti za naravoslovje in tehnologijo Nove univerze v Lizboni kot raziskovalec na Centru za informatiko in informacijske tehnologije (CITI). Istočasno je vpisan na doktorski študij na Univerzi za umetnost in industrijsko oblikovanje v Linzu, smer Vmesniške kulture, kjer je tudi predavatelj na magistrskem programu.
ENG Headbang Hero is a satirical rhythm videogame using a wireless,
motion-sensing wig to detect the player’s performance as he/she violently shakes her head in appreciation of Heavy Metal music. Headbang Hero is a videogame for testing your headbanging prowess with heroic disregard for your own health. Wearing a special motion-sensing wig, you are awarded points for vigor and timing while you headbang to the powerful chords of heavier-than-metal music. When the game is over, a personal report is printed out for you, including data about your performance, the amount of real damage you sustained during play and some dubious but friendly advice. Tiago Martins continues his education at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon as a researcher at the Center for Informatics and Information Technology (CITI). Simultaneously, he is enrolled in doctoral studies in the field of Interface Culture at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz, where he is also a lecturer in the Master’s program.

TIAGO MARTINS, VESELA MIHAYLOVA (PT) Tripo, 2013 Avtor glasbe / Music by Claudio Pina Interaktivna instalacija / Interactive installation Serijo treh krajših in medsebojno povezanih pripovedi spoznamo skozi imaginarno napravo, ki črpa svoj navdih v radiu iz pločevinke. Sodelujoči so usmerjeni k raziskovanju notranjega prostora, k iskanju dostopnih točk, kjer je napravo moč uporabiti. Na vsaki od teh točk lahko sodelujoči napravo uporabijo za poslušanje delčkov treh različnih zgodb, ki se razvijajo in prepletajo po celotnem območju, kot da bi bile spomini samega prostora. Tripo napolni prazen, opustošen prostor z globinskim in intimnim doživetjem. Z obuditvijo načrta, temelječega na medijski arheologiji in podobah iz otroštva, sodelujočemu odpira prosto pot k izkušanju novih pogledov o pomenu samega fizičnega prostora. ENG A set of three short and interconnected narratives are delivered
through an imaginary device inspired by the tin can radio. Participants are led on the exploration of an indoor space to find hotspots where the device can be used. At each of the hotspots participants may use the device in order to listen to pieces of three different stories which evolve and intersect throughout the location, as if they were memories of the space itself. Tripo populates an empty, destitute space with an immersive and intimate experience. Evoking a design based on media archaeology and the imaginarium of childhood, it prompts the participant to experience new perspectives on the meaning of the physical space itself.

RICARDO O’NASCIMENTO (ES) E-ansã, 2010 E-ansã je obleka, ki se odziva na prisotnost frekvenčnih signalov iz mobilnih telefonov. Namen dela je preoblikovati nevidni pojav elektromagnetske radiacije v vidni pojav vetra, ki ga ljudje zaznamo s čuti. Obleko sestavlja aluminijasta struktura, v katero so nameščeni ventilatorji, ki jih prekriva na stotine trakov rdeče, oranžne in rumene barve. Spominjajo na trakove za zaklinjanje z vozlanjem in odganjanje bolezni v eni izmed afro-brazilskih mitologij. Obleka tako ne prikazuje zgolj identitete, temveč mistične, tehnološke in kulturne vsebine. Vsebuje elemente čarovništva, ki združuje nevidne sile tradicionalne in tehnološke “magije”. Ricardo O’Nascimento je umetnik in raziskovalec na področju novih medijev in interaktivne umetnosti. Raziskuje odnose med telesom in okoljem ter se osredotoča zlasti na razvoj vmesnikov za nosljive naprave, interaktivne instalacije in hibridna okolja.
ENG E-ansã is a garment that responds to the presence of frequency
signals from mobile phones. The goal of the artwork is to transform the invisible occurence of electromagnetic radiation into the visible phenomenon of wind, which we can perceive with our senses. The garment consists of an aluminum structure with ventilators covered by hundreds of red, orange and yellow ribbons. They resemble ribbons used for enchantment and repelling diseases in one of the African-Brazilian mythologies. Thus the garment not only represents identity, but also carries a mystical, technological and cultural content. It contains elements of witchcraft that unites the invisible forces of traditional and technological “magic”. Ricardo O’Nascimento is an artist and researcher in the field of new media and interactive art. He investigates body-environment relations focused on interface development for worn devices, interactive installations and hybrid environments.

EVA PETRIČ (SI) Message in a circuit, 2013 Video instalacija / Video installation Kakšno bo življenje čez 100 let? Bomo komunicirali s prenosom misli? Bodo računalniki shranjevali naš spomin? Bomo z dvigali potovali v vesolje? Nas bo vodila ena sama svetovna vlada? Vse to ali pa nič od tega ali pa še marsikaj… Možnosti so neštete , omejuje jih le naša vizija. Zato je pravo vprašanje, kakšna je naša vizija? Ta je lahko realna, previdna, drzna, sanjska, utopična … Video Message in a circuit v svetu kompleksnosti, v dialogu posnetkov sodobnega Buenos Airesa in antičnih rimljanskih Brionov izpostavlja pomembnost perspektive. Od perspektive je odvisno, kako gledamo na svet okoli sebe, česa se spominjamo iz preteklosti in kaj vidimo v prihodnosti. Eva Petrič je diplomirala iz psihologije in umetnosti na univerzi Webster na Dunaju. 2010 je magistrirala iz novih medijev na Transart Institute New York-Berlin. Ukvarja se z umetniško fotografijo, slikanjem, videom, projekcijami, performansi in pisanjem. Je članica dunajskega Künstlerhaus in umetniškega kolektiva Z+E+M.
ENG What will life look like hundred years from now? Will we be com-
municating via transfer of thoughts? Will computers be storing our memories? Will we be travelling into space by space elevators? Will the whole world be governed just by one world government? All these or nothing at all or much more than that… The possibilities are countless, limited only by our vision. Thus, the right question to ask is what is our vision? It can be realistic, cautious, daring, dreamy, utopian... The video Message in a circuit in a visual dialogue of contemporary Buenos Aires and Ancient Roman Brijuni emphasizes the importance of perspective in our world of complexities. It depends from our perspective how we perceive the world around us, what we remember from the past and what we see in the future. Eva Petrič graduated in Psychology and Art at Vienna’s Webster University. She received her master’s degree in 2010 in the field of New Media at the Transart Institute (New York–Berlin). She deals with artistic photography, painting, video, projections, performances and writing. She is a member of The Vienna Künstlerhaus and of the Z+E+M art collective.

VOJKO POGAČAR (SI) Od 2D do 3D / From 2D to 3D, 2013 Od računalniške grafike do 3D tiska From computer graphics to 3D printing V prvih soočenjih z računalnikom v osemdesetih se je avtor loteval ekspresivne in animirane risbe ter slikanja. Med drugim je raziskoval variacije na temo poligoniziranih površin, takrat še minimalno prostorsko moduliranih. Po treh desetletjih pa se je poligonizirana površina povsem drugače osmislila in prostorsko umestila. V avtorjevem primeru je nastala kot posledica 3D modelov lastnega telesa in bila nato interpretirana kot notranja pokrajina: sprehod po notranjosti ali zunanjosti lastnega telesa. Vojko Pogačar je diplomiral na ALU v Ljubljani. Je član DLUM in ZDSLU, združenja likovnih umetnikov Paris – Belleville, umetniške skupine 3H30 (Paris – Bordeaux), član umetniške skupine AntArtika (1997). Leta 2010 postane predsednik SZB – Slovenskega združenja za barve, naslednje leto pa s kolegi ustanovi D.COMP – Design center odličnosti v sklopu RAZ:UM-a. Kot izredni profesor poučuje inženirsko oblikovanje na fakulteti za strojništvo univerze v Mariboru.
ENG The author first came in contact with computer in the Eighties
and ventured into the world of expressive and animated drawing and painting. Variations on the theme of polygonized surfaces which at the time were spatially modulated in a minimalistic manner were another one of his interests. After three decades, however, the polygonized surface has gained a completely new meaning and spatial perspective. In the author’s case, it came about as a reaction to a 3D model of his own body and was further interpreted as an inner landscape: a stroll around interiority or exteriority of one’s own body. Vojko Pogačar graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. He is a member of the Association of Fine Artists Maribor (DLUM) and ZDSLU (Union of Slovene Fine Arts Associations), Association of Fine Artists Paris – Belleville and a member of art groups 3H30 (Paris – Bordeaux) and Antarctica (1997). In 2010, he has become a president of SZB – Slovenian Association for color and in the following year, he has set up a D.COMP – Design Center of Excellence within RAZ:UM with his colleagues. As an adjunct professor, he teaches Engineering Design at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maribor.

DRAGANA SAPANJOŠ (HR) Sim, 2002 Umetnica se v več delih ukvarja z občutki ujetosti, anksioznosti, brezizhodnosti in neprijetnih fizičnih stanj, ki jih vzbuja z okoljsko situacijo v instalaciji. Sim je neke vrste osebni arhiv 800 potnih brisov različnih ljudi, ki so shranjeni v steklenih epruvetah. Epruvete na policah so postavljene zelo nestabilno, tako da jih lahko sleherno gibanje po prostoru prevrne in razbije. Okolje instalacije s steklenimi epruvetami – kubus v velikosti 1 x 3 metre – doseže izjemno vročino, ki jo proizvaja 1000 vatni svetlobni sistem s halogenskimi lučmi in prisili obiskovalca, da se tudi sam začne potiti. Telesne meje med potom obiskovalcev in ostalimi tekočinami v epruvetah se tako zabrišejo. Dragana Sapanjoš je bila rojena leta 1979. Vznemirjujoč občutek nelagodja, mučnosti, ki ga vzbuja njeno delo, je vseskozi prisoten kot predmet njenega raziskovanja.
ENG In a number of her works, the author deals with feelings of
entrapment, anxiety, hopelessness and uncomfortable physical states, which she causes with the circumstances in the installation. Sim is a kind of personal archive, containing the sweat of 800 people, preserved into glass vials. The 800 vials are shakily positioned onto shelves inside an environment extremely sensible to the movements caused by the visitors entrance: each movement inside the room can break the vials. The glass vial installation setting (1 x 3 m cube) produces an extremely high temperature produced from a 1000 W lighting system, which makes the observer sweat himself. The physical borders between the observer’s sweat and the liquids in the other vials are thus blurred. Dragana Sapanjoš was born in 1979. The disturbing feeling of awkwardness that the sculpture evokes has been an essential part of her research.

THERESA SCHUBERT (DE) Chroma+Phy Chroma+Phy je spekulativen dizajn žive, nosljive tehnologije, ki vključuje kombinacijo protoplazemske strukture ameboidnega neceličnega organizma Physarum polycephalum in kromatofore plazilca kameleona. Za projektom se skriva ideja, da bodo nekoč v daljni ali bližnji prihodnosti, na planetu Zemlja ali kje drugje v vesolju, ljudje potrebovali določena orodja, ki jim bodo v pomoč pri družabnem življenju in vsakodenevnih rutinah. Chroma+Phy se ukvarja tudi z vprašanjem zasebnosti. Premikamo se od družbe vseprisotnih digitalnih informacij k družbi, kjer bo biotehnologija neposredno “dostopala” do naših teles in pridobila informacije v njih. Delo Chroma+Phy je razmislek na temo hibridnega senzorja, ki bi ojačal človekove funkcije in jih povezal z okoljem. Theresa Schubert je post-medijska umetnica in raziskovalka na vseh področjih, ki se nahajajo na presečišču umetnosti, znanosti in njunih družbenih vplivov.
ENG Chroma+Phy is a speculative design for a living wearable that
combines the protoplasmic structure of the amoeboid acellular organism Physarum polycephalum and the chromatophores of the reptile Chameleon. The underpinning idea is that in a future far away or close, on planet earth or in outer space, humans will need some tools to help them in their social life and day-to-day routine. Chroma+Phy is also addressing the issue of privacy. We are moving from a society of omnipresence of digital information to a society where biotechnology will directly “access” our body to retrieve its information. The work Chrom+Phy is a speculation about a living hybrid sensor that enhances function for humans and connects it with the environment. Theresa Schubert is a post-media artist and researcher in everything concerning the intersection of art, science, and its social impact.

Uporablja prvine materialnega sveta, ki jih kombinatorno spreminja v zvok, zaznamujoč njihov značaj. Interakcija sestoji iz tirnice z nizom različnih predmetov. S pomočjo premikanja različnih predmetov po tirnici se ustvarjajo edinstveni zvočni pasovi. Uporaba različnih oblik, mas in tekstur ustvarja povezavo med objektom in proizvedenim zvokom. ENG ShapSounds is an interaction which aims to combine two familiar
worlds into one: the physical world where each and every object has its own shape, weight and feel to it, together with the world of sound. It takes features of the material world and converts them into sounds that match their character. The interaction includes a rail on which objects of different shapes are set. When arranging these objects on the rail, moving them back and forth creates consistent strips of sounds. Because of different shapes, weight, and textures, connections are created between the object and the sound it produces. Doron Segal is an electrical engineer at the Holon Institute of Technology. “One of the best things that happened during my studies is the exposure to the world of interactive design.”

MAJA SMREKAR (SI) Hu.M.C.C.m.k.2. Human Molecular Colonization Capacity Človeška molekularna kolonizacijska zmogljivost, 2013 Cene hrane se bodo v prihodnosti zvišale, saj je proizvodna zmogljivost v obratnem sorazmerju z globalno rastjo prebivalstva. Ali bi človeška molekularna proizvodna zmogljivost v DNK – kot enem redkih nekoloniziranih biotehnoloških materialov – lahko postala blagovno sredstvo (utemeljeno na sistemu genetskega posojila), kar bi lahko bila ena od naslednjih stopenj evolucije? Projekt se ubada z vprašanjem biotehnološke produkcije prehranske industrije, ki ga v končni obliki predstavlja koncept dizajnirane hrane – jogurt z imenom Maya YogHurt, ki vsebuje produkt umetničinih encimov. Projekt lahko razumemo tudi kot parafrazo koncepta tratenja produktivnih sil, ki ga je razvil Marx. Hu.M.C.C.m.k.2. se torej nahaja v t. i. “Soylent Green” sferi (Zeleno sonce, znanstveno-fantastični film iz l. 1973), kjer se strah pred ekološko kataklizmo spremeni v prefinjeno kritiko korporativnega kanibalizma. Maje Smrekar raziskuje fenomenologijo zaznave na presečišču humanističnih in naravoslovnih znanosti v povezavi s človeškim telesom, zasebnostjo ter (inter)subjektivno zaznavo prostora.
ENG Food prices are going to rise in the future due to production ca-
pacity which decreases inversely with the global population growth. Is there a possibility that human molecular production capacity in the DNA, as one of the few uncolonized biotechnological materials, could become an alternative trade tool, (based on a system of genetic credit), which could become one of the next stages of evolution? The project dwells on the food industry biotechnological production that is in its final form represented as a design food concept – a yogurt package called Maya YogHurt, containing the product of an artist´s enzyme. The project paraphrases a concept for the waste of productive forces explored by Marx. Therefore the Hu.M.C.C.m.k.2. dwells in the so called “Soylent Green” paradigm where the fear of ecological cataclysm turns into a subtle critique of corporate cannibalism. Maja Smrekar´researches the phenomenology of perception on the intersections of humanistic and natural sciences in relations to body, privacy and (inter)subjective perception of space.

SAŠA SPAČAL, MIRJAN ŠVAGELJ, ANIL PODGORNIK (SI) mycophone_unison, 2013 Mycophone_unison v prostor-času multiplicitet deluje kot navigacijska naprava. Zvočni zemljevid intra-akcije med tremi mikrobiomi teles avtorjev in gledalca. S pritiskom na prstni odtis gledalec pošlje signal zemljevidu, na katerem ga ozvoči osrednja nebesna plošča in hkrati posreduje mikrobiomom, da ga modulirajo kot zvok sozvočja. Multiplicitete teles avtorjev slišimo kot eno za kratek trenutek v tukaj-in-zdaj. Saša Spačal je intermedijska umetnica in grafična oblikovalka, ki deluje na področju grafičnega oblikovanja, interaktivne video produkcije in intermedijske umetnosti v Sloveniji in v tujini. Mirjan Švagelj je leta 2012 dokončal doktorski študij biomedicine na Fakulteti za medicino in Fakulteti za kemijo in kemijsko tehnologijo na področju zdravilnih gliv. Anil Podgornik je DIY entuziast z velikim talentom za elektroniko, mehaniko in fiziko, ki od leta 2012 sodeluje na projektu Mycophone_genus.
ENG Mycophone_unison in the spacetime of multiplicities serves as a
navigation tool. A sound map of intra-action between three microbiomes of the bodies of it’s authors and the viewer. By pressing the fingerprint the viewer sends a signal to the map that processes it through the central celestial plate to the microbiomes that modulate it as a sound of unison. The multiplicities of the authors are heard as one for one brief moment in the here and now. Saša Spačal is an intermedia artist and graphic designer working in the field of graphic design, interactive video production and intermedia art, in Slovenia and abroad. Mirjan Švagelj completed his PhD in biomedicine (investigating the healing effects of fungi) at the Faculty of medicine and the Faculty of chemistry and chemical technology in 2012. Anil Podgornik is a DIY enthusiast with a great talent for electronics, mechanics and physics, and has collaborated on the Mycophone_genus project

Večmedijska instalacija temelji na raziskovanju in eksperimentih z različnimi mikro fluidi in nano materiali. Ferofluidi, ki reagirajo kot živa generativna odzivna površina na magnetno valovanje, bodo proizvajali estetske mikro krajine. Instalacijo sestavljajo manjše petrijevke z nanoroboti, ki so postavljeni v večjo petrijevko s ferofluidi. Mikroskopska kamera, povezana z računalnikom, preko projektorja predvaja reakcije na nano nivoju, kjer imajo kemični procesi drugačne zakonitosti. Ferofluide poganja magnet, nanobote pa peroksid. Robertina Šebjanič (1975) je ustvarjalka na področju intermedije in kulturni omogočevalec. Vsebinsko svoje ideje in koncepte pogosto realizira v sodelovanju z drugimi avtorji, zato njena dela utelešajo interdisciplinarnost in neformalno integracijo. Aleš Hieng - Zergon (1984) je diplomirani inženir kemije in glasbeni izvajalec. Za njegove improvizirane nastope v živo so značilni analogno proizvedeni in modulirani zvoki ter šumi, kombinirani s terenskimi posnetki ter uporaba lastnih elektronskih zvočnih naprav.
ENG This multimedia installation is based on research and experi-
ments with different kinds of microfluids and nanomaterials. Ferrofluids, which react as a live, generative responsive surface to the electromagnetic waves, will produce esthetic micro-landscapes. The installation consists of small-size petridishes with nanorobots positioned inside the larger petridish containing ferrofluids. The microscopic camera, connected to the computer through a projector, shows reactions on the nano-level, where chemical processes function under different laws. The ferrofluids are driven by a magnet, and the nanobots by peroxide. Robertina Šebjanič (1975) is a creator in the field of intermedia and a cultural facilitator. In terms of content, she often realizes her ideas and concepts in cooperation with other authors, which is why her works embody interdisciplinarity and informal integration. Aleš Hieng - Zergon (1984) is a musical performer with a BA degree in chemistry. His improvised live performances are characterized by analogproduced and modulated sounds and noises combined with field recordings, as well the use of personally created electronic sound devices.

ORTOtip Dodajalne tehnologije / Additive Manufacturing, 2013 Nove tehnologije, ki temeljijo na principu dodajanja materiala v proces (dodajalne tehnologije ali 3D tisk), so del nove industrijske revolucije. Omogočajo izdelavo izdelka v eni stopnji, ob popolni kontroli kakovosti. Dodajalne tehnologije se danes na trgu manifestirajo v obliki trirazsežnih tiskalnikov oziroma 3D printerjev. Z njimi je mogoče natisniti trirazsežen izdelek – 3D model, ki je predhodno zmodeliran v računalniškem okolju. Edinstvena lastnost dodajalnih tehnologij je v njihovi neodvisnosti od geometrijske oblike, saj je z njimi mogoče izdelati kakršenkoli izdelek (sestavljen izdelek ali delujoč mehanizem) in to v enem samem postopku. Pri tem je vseeno, za kakšen izdelek gre oziroma kakšen je njegov namen. Izdelamo lahko študijski model za načrtovanje operacije, sanjski prototip avtomobila, prstan, skodelico ali luč za domačo dnevno sobo. ENG Industrial revolution brought along additive technologies or 3D
printing; these are modern technologies based on the principle of material additive process which allows us to manufacture a product in one step only while having a complete control over its quality. Additive technologies are nowadays featuring on the market in the form of three-dimensional 3D printers. These allow us to print a three-dimensional product – a 3D model previously designed in a computer environment. One of the unique traits of additive technologies lies in their independency from geometric shapes, as it is possible to manufacture any kind of product (an assembled product or a functional mechanism) in only one stage, regardless of the type of product or its purpose; we can create either a study model for operational planning, a dream car prototype, a ring, a cup or a lamp for our living room.

S prenosom v virtualno oziroma spletno in inter-/hiperaktivno okolje hiper film povezuje vse do sedaj vpletene akterje festivala. ENG MFRU hyper film is a group project designed by authors from
Maribor, Ljubljana and Beograd; through the development of film logics and editing, it stretches over the boundaries of linear structure and opens new doors to story evolvement in the film medium. By being transferred into a virtual world and integrated into a network and inter-hyperactive environment, the MFRU hyper film connects all hitherto participators of the festival.
Jože Slaček: MFRU archive, 2013 Instalacija / Installation Zavedajoč se pomena dokumentiranja in arhiviranja gradiv sodobne novomedijske umetnosti, organizatorji skrbno hranijo in zbirajo gradiva predhodnih festivalov. Posebna skrb je bila namenjena zbiranju in predstavitvi gradiv ob 15. festivalu, ko je bil ustvarjen MFRU hiper film, prvi slovenski interaktivni dokumentarec, ki je tudi v svetovnem merilu izjemen. Ob hiper filmu je bil urejen tudi arhiv fizičnih gradiv, zbranih v prejšnjih letih. Gradiva redno dopolnjujejo z materiali aktualnih MFRU-jev. ENG Bearing in mind the importance of documentation and archiving
of new media arts material, Jože Slaček, the MFRU festival’s founder and co-organizer, takes a detailed care of collecting and archiving festival’s material. Most special concern was dedicated to collecting and presentation of material for the 15th MFRU when a MFRU hyper film – the first Slovenian interactive documentary, exceptional also at a world level – was produced. Beside film, Jože Slaček arranged an archive with physically stored material from previous years, which is regularly being updated with material from current festivals.

Gre za kombinacijo performansa in instalacije, igro luči in senc, dejanskosti in fikcije.« johnsmith je umetnik in performer. movies buried in the public domain repositories comes back to life in little pieces; a puzzle of scenes and takes rearranged and manipulated in real-time to compose a collage images and sounds, an audiovisual Frankenstein.
Ana Pečar/Luka Prinčič (SI) VJ/DJ set bo peljal v poganske hibridne svetove. Ta pot se vsakič dogaja v sedanjiku in se nikdar ne ponovi v povsem enaki obliki, saj je odvisna od prostorov, ki imajo svoje razlike: vizualne, prostorske, akustične, kulturne in emocionalne. Komunikacija med gledalci in izvajalci vsakič ustvarja edinstveno atmosfero. Dogodek bo improvizacija videa, zvoka in ritma. Ana Pečar je videastka in intermedijska umetnica, ki deluje tudi kot aktivna organizatorka javnih dogodkov, skozi katere sporoča svoje umetniške in kolektivne zamisli.

Luka Prinčič je glasbenik, oblikovalec zvoka in medijski umetnik. Sodeloval je pri številnih zvočno-glasbenih in multimedijskih projektih. ENG The VJ/DJ set will lead into pagan hybrid worlds. Each time, this
journey happens in the present, and is never repeated in the exact same form, because it depends on different spaces charged with different characteristics: visual, spatial, acoustic, cultural and emotional. The communication between viewers and performers creates a unique atmosphere each time. The event is an improvisation of video, sound and rhythm. Ana Pečar is a video and intermedia artist. She is active as an organizer of public events through which she communicates artistic and collective currents. Luka Prinčič is a musician, sound designer and media artist. He has participated in a number of sound-music and multimedia projects.

Z jasno analogno estetiko prikazuje formalne značilnosti materialov, ki se v živo spreminjajo in tvorijo ambientalne a/v krajine. Združevanje fizike, kemije in računalniškega gledanja ustvari potopitveno okolje in razkriva nevidna polja, ki povzročajo (avto)poetične učinke preko senzorne izkušnje. Z razširjanjem senzornega spektra performans izziva vprašanje percepcije in vzbuja idejo o malih svetovih z drugimi zakonitostmi, ki sobivajo na različnih skalah, kot bi imeli vpogled v novo dimenzijo ali možnost, da svet mislimo tudi drugače. ENG The sound-video performance echo 10-9 takes place on the nano
and microlevel. With a clear analog esthetic it demonstrates the formal characteristics of materials, which are transformed on the spot, creating ambient a/v landscapes. The combination of physics, chemistry and computer vision creates an immersive environment and reveals invisible fields that create (auto)poetic effects with the sensory experience. By expanding the sensory specter the performance challenges the question of perception and arouses the idea of small-size worlds with different laws, co-existing on different levels – like an insight into a new dimension, or having the possibility to think the world differently.

He is an opensource advocate.
C-DRIK FERMONT (BE/DE) C-drik Fermont je akademski glasbenik in skladatelj, ki se je takoj po zaključku akademije podal v področje eksperimentalnega zvoka (hrupa). Sodeluje in izvaja solo in skupinske zvočne projekte, ki se žanrsko umeščajo v območje eksperimentalne, industrial, noise in ambientalne glasbe. Sodeluje z različnimi glasbeniki in je ustanovitelj založbe Syrphe Records. Na svoji neskončni svetovni turneji se je srečeval z umetniki in ustvarjalci iz vsega sveta. Pri založbi Syrphe je izdal albume z izvajalci iz afriških, bližnjevzhodnih in azijskih dežel kot so Iran, Tunizija, Alžirija, Singapur, Kitajska itd.
ENG C-drik Fermont is an academically educated musician and com-
poser who embarked on the path of experimental sound (noise) right after finishing his studies. His solo and collaborative performances include sound projects in the genres of experimental, industrial, noise and ambient music. He is founder of Syrphe Records. During his extensive world tour he has met artists and creators from around the globe. Syrphe has published numerous albums featuring performers from African, Middle East and Asian countries such as Iran, Tunisia, Algeria, Singapore, China etc.

Jože Slaček, Primož Oberžan, Jan Sterniša, ORTOTIP Koncert 3D tiskanja (3D printing concert) Projekt izkorišča zvočnost, značilno za delovne procese tiskanja s plastično žico. Dva tiskalnika tiskata dva različna predmeta, s čimer bodo zvočni učinki sicer različni, zaradi značilnih ponavljajočih se gibov pa obstaja verjetnost občasne sinhronosti. Ritmično podlago nadgrajuje nastop bobnarja. Performans je dopolnjen z video projekcijo, sestavljeno iz 3D animacij in živo zajetega posnetka. ENG The project capitalizes on the acoustics typical of plastic wire 3D
printing processes. Two printers will be printing two different objects, causing different sound effects, but due to the typical repetitive movements there is a chance of occasional synchronicity. The rhythmic background is enhanced by the performance of a drummer. The entire performance is topped off by a video projection consisting of 3D animations and a live captured recording.

pealing and interesting video games of the upcoming decade will take place as an addition to the Gaming Lounge and it will also provide an opportunity for socializing of enthusiasts and everyone interested in the depths and progress within the medium of video games. Relaxation will be obtained through “party” games; the latter are able to expand the ordinary use of computer technology and mark its path into the environment of group gaming

and socializing in public places. Popular video games cover songs, collected in OverClockedReMix, will provide an adequate musical background.
VJ PostArtLab & DJ Damir P. f.k.a. D'Sun “Kreativno raziskovanje vizualizacij organskih materialov” (A creative investigation into the visualization of organic materials) Festival MFRU in PostArtLab vzpostavljata eksperimentalno okolje, ki uvaja nove metodologije in epistemologije ustvarjanja ter spoznavanja narave na nivoju čutil (sluh, vonj, okus, vid, tip). Z mešanjem elektronike, elektronske glasbe in organskih snovi ustvarjamo umetnost, ki govori o zapletenih odnosih med tehnologijo in konceptih narave, ki se pod vplivom evolucije, enako kakor človeštvo, konstantno spreminja. Projekt nagovarja intermedijske konceptualne pristope in spodbuja transdisciplinarno sodelovanje ter preplet sodobnih tehnologij, zvokov in vizualnih podob. Ob tem poskuša vzpostaviti odprt dialog o razmerju med umetnimi in naravnimi okolji, ki so dostopna za vse in izboljšujejo kvaliteto bivanja. ENG MFRU festival and PostArtLab are establishing an experimental
environment that introduces new methodologies and epistemologies of creating and discovering nature on the level of senses (hearing, smell, taste, sight, touch). By mixing electronics, electronic music and organic matter we are creating art that reveals the complex relations between technology and the concepts of nature, which – under the influence of evolution – is constantly changing, just like the human kind. The project addresses intermedia conceptual approaches and encourages transdisciplinary collaboration and an interlacement of contemporary technologies, sounds and visual images. It also attempts to create an open dialog about the relationship between artificial and natural environments that are accessible to everyone and improve the quality of living.

ELECTRIC INDIGO (AT) Electric indigo izvaja live večkanalne solo koncerte avantgardne elektronske glasbe ali živih plesnih setov. Z eksperimentalno improvizirano glasbo z veseljem nastopa tudi ob boku Pie Palme. Seveda je tudi DJ-ka. Njeno ime se nanaša na inteligentno in imenitno interpretacijo techno in elektronske glasbe. Za njene DJ sete so značilni širok spekter in jasnost vizije ter globina, ki lahko izvira samo iz globokega razumevanja glasbe in umetnosti DJ-anja. Kot skladateljica in glasbenica poudarja prostorsko-časovno umestitev zvokov prefinjene teksture. ENG Electric indigo plays live multi-channel solo concerts of avant-
garde electronic music or live-sets for dance floors. She loves to perform live alongside Pia Palme with experimental improvised music. Naturally, she is also a DJ. Her name stands for the intelligent and distinguished interpretation of techno and electronic music. Her DJ-sets are characterized by a wide variety and clarity of vision, and a depth that only comes from a deep understanding of the music and the art of the DJ. As a composer and musician, she emphasizes the spatial-temporal placement of subtly textured sounds.
Skin Body ELISABETH SCHIMANA + NOID (AT) Elisabeth Schimana uporablja žive elektronske in akustične instrumente. Projekt Skin Body zvočno sestavljajo “zlomljeni” ritmi, nenehno oscilirajoče membrane in raznoliki modulirani nivoji generiranih zvočnih vzorcev, ki jih umetnica proizvaja z igranjem na čelo in elektronske inštrumente. Je zvočna poslastica za telesno okušanje glasbe. noid – njegov glasbeni pristop lahko opišemo kot temeljno raziskovanje, medtem ko njegova dela obsegajo širok nabor kontradiktornih izdelkov, od solo skladb do kompozicij za ansamble, od zvočnih instalacij do videov. Uporablja elektroniko in akustične instrumente ter posledično zanika mejo med glasbo in zvočno umetnostjo.

Delavnice / Workshops echo 10-9 Robertina Šebjanič & Aleš Hieng - Zergon Delavnica daje vpogled v nastanek projekta, predstavljenega v obliki performansa. V laboratorijskem in eksperimentalnem delu sta se avtorja spoprijemala s specifičnimi znanstvenimi problemi funkcionalnosti nanomaterialov, umetnih nanonaprav, mikro tekočin, magnetnih tekočin, ferofluidov in aplikacij pri živi znanosti na ravni mikrosistemov ter raziskala možnosti za preslikavo v makro nivo. Delavnica ima obliko odprtega laboratorija “dela z drugimi” (DIWO). Z udeleženci delavnice se pripravi tekoči ferofluid. Delavnica poteka 2 do 3 ure. ENG The workshop offers an insight into the creation of the project
presented as a performance. In their experimental and lab work, the authors deal with specific scientific functionality problems of nanomaterials, artificial nanodevices, micro fluids, magnetic fluids, ferrofluids and live science applications on the level of microsystems, researching the possibilities for their transformation into the macro level. The workshop is conceived in the form of a DIWO open lab. A liquid ferrofluid is prepared by. the authors and participants. Duration: 2–3 hours.

Ladies of the press: Zine-making Ana Čavić, Renée O'Drobinak Spajanje performativne umetnosti in založništva ustvarja novinarstvo v živo s pomočjo raznobarvnih pisal in ščepca bleščic ter tako vnaša gledališče v ustvarjanje časopisa. Ladies of the Press sta opremljeni s preprostim (a teatraličnim) uredniškim omizjem, postavljenim na prizorišču dogajanja. Kolege razstavljalce in občinstvo, željno sodelovanja v živo, vabita na tridnevno časopisno ekstravaganco, dokumentiranje festivala s pomočjo fotografij in intervjujev. Najprej gre za umetniško delo, ki skuša z likovno intervencijo v mestni prostor prevprašati razliko med virtualnim in dejanskim, po drugi strani pa se v sklop festivala vključuje kot njegov napovednik. Q:aRt združuje delavnico in predavanja o izdelavi QR kod, procesu izdelave šablone za grafite, o načelih informiranja v javnem prostoru, podane pa bodo tudi informacije o potencialu večmedijskih umetnosti. The project aims to explore the artistic and informative potential of QR codes. Primarily, it is considered an artwork which, through the employment of artistic intervention in the city space, strives to re-examine differences between virtuality and reality. Secondly, it is incorporated in the framework of the festival as its preview event. Q:aRt consists of a workshop and lectures on subjects of QR codes production, the process of making graffiti stencils, the principles of providing information within the public space and the potential of multimedia art.

FIRST: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. Ekipe (9–16 let) iščejo inovativne rešitve v okviru raziskovalne naloge na izbrano temo. Letošnja tema je “Besnenje narave. Kako se pripraviti, odzvati in čim hitreje opomoči, ko se soočimo z naravnimi nesrečami?” V robotskem delu programa udeleženci sestavljajo avtonomnega robota za reševanje nalog na FLL polju. Organizator in izvajalec FLL programa v Sloveniji je Zavod Super Glavce. ENG First Lego League is an international multidisciplinary research
educational program with emphasis on robotics. FIRST: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. Teams (9–16 years) are searching for innovative solutions in the framework of a research task covering a chosen topic. This year’s theme is “Nature’s Wrath. How to prepare, react and recover promptly when faced with natural disasters?” The robotic section of the program consists of participants constructing an autonomous robot for problem solving in the FLL field. FLL program in Slovenia is organized and conducted by the Super Glavce institution.

world of robotics. During a three-day workshop, you will be setting up a robot for driving around the labyrinth autonomously. On the first day, a mentor will present a general theory of robotics, functioning and types of robots, the history of robotics, as well as specific characteristics and procedures for constructing a workshop robot. Second day’s scope is building a robot handson: from composition to animation. On the third day, you will be testing previously made robots in labyrinths and take them home.
Magična kupola / Magic Dome OŠ Gorišnica, Raziskovalci / Researchers: Žiga Tilli, Aleks Bezjak, Evald Vrbančič in Aljaž Zorko. Mentorja / Mentors: Boštjan Rihtar, Arne Korsika, FERI Projekt želi učencem na drugačen način približati fenomen barv in odnose med njimi. V kupoli naj bi se učenci počutili objeti v tople ali hladne barve, sami bi lahko ustvarili komplementarni barvni kontrast, pogledali barvni krog ali mavrico. Z dodajanjem elementov se lahko poigrajo z barvno kompozicijo in perspektivo v prostoru. Kupolo programsko upravlja Shark, projekcija se izvaja v projekcijski kupoli s projektorjem Fisheye. ENG The project wishes to acquaint pupils in a different way to phe-
nomena of colors and relations between them. Inside a dome, pupils should be feeling embraced by warm or cold colors, able to create a complementary color contrast by themselves and watch a color wheel or a rainbow. By adding elements, they can play with color composition and spatial perspective. The dome is managed by the program Shark, while a projection with Fisheye is conducted inside a projection dome.

Robocup – delavnice plesnih robotov (dancing robots workshops) dr. Suzana Uran, FERI RoboCupJunior je svetovno robotsko tekmovanje učencev OŠ in dijakov SŠ. RoboCupJunior Ples je eden od razredov tega tekmovanja, pri katerem je naloga zastavljena odprto in nudi obilo možnosti za ustvarjalno izražanje. Naloga ekipe je priprava kratkega nastopa robotov. Nastop je plesni ali gledališki: pri plesnem se ocenjuje izvirnost plesa in usklajenost gibanja robotov in članov ekipe, pri gledališkem nastopu se ocenjujejo izvirnost in način pripovedovanja zgodbe ter predstavitev dogajanja. Pomembna je tudi tehnična ocena zahtevnosti zgradbe robota. ENG RoboCupJunior is a worldwide robotic competition for pupils of
primary and secondary schools. RoboCupJunior Dance is one of the challenges of the competition which, with a task set up openly, provides numerous possibilities for creative expression. Team’s task consists of preparing a short robotic dance or theater performance; for a dance performance, grading criteria applied are innovativeness and synchronization of movement between robots and team members, whereas in a theater performance, innovativeness, as well as the manner of storytelling and presentation of action are crucial. Another important factor is the technical grade for the complexity of a robot’s construction.
Ljudmila predstavlja / Ljudmila showcases: DIY Theremidi Orchestra, 3De-Generik, LACANOID, ExOD Luka Frelih, Tina Dolinšek, Žiga Kranjec, 2013 Ljudmila, ljubljanski laboratorij za znanost in umetnost, predstavlja delavniško aktivnost ter umetniško produkcijo z „on-spot“ delavnico izdelovanja naredi-sam/-a elektronskih inštrumentov. Trije kompleti (kiti), iz katerih je moč sestaviti različne inštrumente, izkoriščajo električne spremembe ob raznih interakcijah: pri stiku z vodo, ob dotiku, stiku s telesom, reagirajo na svetlobo. Kompleti so: Dotični Tone – odziv na dotik, MicroNoise – odziv na svetlobo in Teremini – reakcije na bližino.

ENG Ljudmila, Ljubljana based laboratory for science and art, show-
cases its workshop activities and art production with an “onspot” workshop of creating DIY electronic instruments. Three sets of kits from which various instruments can be made exploit electrical changes during different interactions: when in contact with water, when touched, through a body contact and also as a reaction to light. Kits are: Touch Tone – responds to touch, MicroNoise – responds to light and Teremini – reacts to vicinity.

CNC stroj je zasnovan kot »zeleni« tiskalnik, ki namesto tiskalniške barve uporablja zmes, sestavljeno iz zemlje, vode in semen trave. Natisnjeni motivi tako ob pravilni negi čez čas ozelenijo. ENG The project has been designed for the Intermedia Arts course,
under the mentorship of prof. Dušan Zidar as the subject holder. The group is composed of Danica Rženičnik, Urška Skaza, Tina Zidanšek and Simon Tržan; the latter has created a CNC machine which presents the basis of assessment. The CNC machine is designed as a “green” printer; instead of an ink, it uses a mixture of soil, water and grass seeds, thus enabling the motives being printed out to grow green in time with proper care.
Gaming Lounge Žiga Pavlovič Z razvojem računalniške tehnologije, digitalnih orodij in njihove distribucije se je razvijal tudi jezik interaktivnega medija – videoiger. Gaming Lounge ponuja vpogled v igralsko subkulturo “Let's play” in svet neodvisnih (indie) iger. V ozadju porasta računalniških iger se je namreč zgodila revolucija digitalne distribucije, ki je razvoj iger demokratizirala. V sproščenem vzdušju Gaming Loungea MFRU–KIBLIX uživajte v igranju nagrajenih videoiger, med drugimi v Minecraftu in Journeyju, računalniški igri leta 2012. ENG Along with development of computer technologies, digital tools
and their distribution, the language of interactive media – videogames – has also made progress. Gaming Lounge offers an insight into the “Let’s play” gaming subculture and into the world of independent (indie) games; for in the background of increased interest in computer games, a simultaneous revolution of digital distribution has also taken place, enabling the democratization of games’ development. Enjoy yourself and play awarded videogames, such as Minecraft and Journey – computer game of the year 2012 – in a relaxed atmosphere of the MFRU-KIBLIX Gaming Lounge.

Predavanja / Lectures: WILLIAM MYERS: Biodesign BioDesign: Nature + Science + Creativity je naslov knjige, ki sta jo leta 2012 izdala Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) iz New Yorka ter založba Thames & Hudson iz Londona. Delo nas seznanja s sodobnimi oblikovalskimi in umetniškimi projekti, za katere se uporabljajo živi materiali in ki zajemajo širok izbor načinov izvedbe oz. uporabe, od arhitekture in oglaševanja, od betona do oblačil. Ta dela nam razkrivajo vizionarske strategije za izboljšanje ekološke učinkovitosti objektov okrog nas, estetske možnosti, ki jih omogoča nova biotehnologija in provokativne eksperimente, ki izpostavijo tako priložnosti, kot tudi nevarnosti manipulacije življenja za človekove namene.
ENG BioDesign: Nature + Science + Creativity is a book published in
2012 by The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and Thames & Hudson in London. It profiles recent design and art projects that use living materials and span a wide range of applications from architecture to advertising and concrete to clothing. These works introduce visionary strategies for improving the ecological performance of the objects around us, aesthetic possibilities enabled by new biotechnology and provocative experiments that illuminate both opportunities and dangers in manipulating life for human ends. Seeker je projekt potujoče vesoljske ladje, ki ga je Angelo Vermeulen pričel razvijati jeseni 2012 v mestu Deventer na Nizozemskem, v kontekstu vsakoletne nagrade Art+Technology Award, ki jo podeljuje družba Witteveen+Bos. Delo na eksperimentalen način raziskuje integracijo tehnoloških, ekoloških in družbenih sistemov, ki omogočajo dolgoročno preživetje na vesoljski ladji. Namesto da bi različne funkcije, povezane z življenjem, delom in tehnologijo med seboj ločevala, se skupnost Seekerja loteva

ustvarjanja hibridnih, zaprtih sistemov, ki podpirajo trajnostno naravnanost in spodbujajo medsebojno povezovanje. ENG Seeker is a traveling spaceship project which Angelo Vermeulen
initiated in the autumn of 2012 in Deventer in the context of the Witteveen+Bos Art+Technology Award. The work explores in an experimental way the integration of the technological, ecological and social systems that enable long-term survival in a spaceship. Instead of keeping the various functions connected to living, working and technology separated the Seeker community sets out to create hybrid, closed systems that favour sustainability and stimulate interconnection. C-DRIK FERMONT: Zgodovina elektronske in eksperimentalne glasbe v Afriki in Aziji / History of electronic and experimental music in Africa and Asia Predavanje, ki bo podkrepljeno z zvočnimi primeri, se bo dotaknilo nastanka elektronske in eksperimentalne glasbe v Aziji in Afriki. ENG A lecture supported by sample sound recordings deals with the
creation of electronic and experimental music in Asia and Africa. Peter Tomaž Dobrila: Reciklirana hrana / Recycled Food Prvi, drugi, tretji svet … kaj pa četrti in peti? Filozofsko prespraševanje, od kod prihajamo in kam gremo, se je v kapitalističnem svetu prevesilo v, kje smo in v katerem členu prehranjevalne verige se nahajamo. Smo bodisi na tisti strani, ki razglablja o ekološko pridelani hrani in gensko spremenjenih organizmih, ali tam, kjer reciklirajo tudi hrano in ostanke iz restavracij ponovno obdelajo in ponudijo kot nizkocenovni obrok, za katerega nekateri pravijo, da je izvrsten, večina pa nič, ker si česa drugega ne morejo privoščiti. Hrana postaja vse bolj luksuz sodobnega sveta in verjetno bo sčasoma samo še manj dvomov, kaj jemo, samo da nekaj imamo, čeprav so številke, koliko se je dnevno zmeče proč, astronomske, in tudi gastronomske, saj je to dovoljeno le peščici. Hrana je kot ultimativni material reciklaže, kot rešitev stiske, kot možnost preživetja, kot izraba vsega, kar nam ponuja ta svet, preden ga požre narava. ENG The first, second, third world ... but what about the fourth and
fifth? Philosophical re-questioning, where we come from and where we are going is in the capitalist world shifted to where we are and in which link of the food chain we are located. We are either on the side that ponders about organic food and genetically modified organisms, or where also food and scraps from the restaurant are recycled and then re-processed and offered as a low-cost meal, which some say it is excellent, but most nothing, because something else they can not afford. Food is becoming more and more a luxury of the modern world and probably there will eventually be even less doubts, what we eat, just to have something, even if the numbers, how much of it is daily thrown away, are astronomical and also gastronomical, as this is permitted only to few. Food is like the ultimate material of recycling, as a solution of distress, as the possibility of survival, as use of all that we’re offered by this world, before it is devoured by nature.

ANA PEČAR: O dolgu / On debt Odplačevanje dolga je postala prednostna naloga držav, v ZDA pa tudi posameznikov, ki se začnejo zadolževati že v času šolanja. O dolgu bom govorila skozi dokumentarec, ki ga pripravljam, o New Yorški aktivistični skupini Strike debt, ki s svojimi akcijami odkupovanja dolga na sekundarnem tržišču razgalja praznost tega fiktivnega denarja. Skupina se tudi teoretično ukvarja z demistifikacijo namensko ustvarjene kompleksnosti in pomembnosti finančnih mehanizmov. ENG Repaying debt has become a priority for numerous countries,
and in the USA even individuals, who often take out student loans as early as the beginning of their studies. I’m going to talk about debt in a documentary I am preparing about the New York activist group Strike debt that exposes the emptiness of such fictitious money by buying debts on the secondary market. The group is also concerned with theoretical demystification of this purposely created complexity and importance of financial mechanisms. TOMAŽ GRUŠOVNIK: Urbanistično-informacijski poseg / An urbanistic-informational intervention Kulturno-umetniška iniciativa / cultural-artistic initiative WERCATOR: Tomaž Grušovnik, Neža Mekota, Tina Merica Kot napovednik skuša projekt Q:aRt informirati širšo javnost o namenu in vsebinah festivala MFRU-KIBLIX: generirane kode bodo namreč preusmerjale na spletne vsebine, ki bodo posredovale informacije o festivalu. S tem bo projekt preiskoval ne le potencial, ki ga imajo QR kode za informiranje javnosti, temveč tudi potencial različnih mestnih lokacij, prostorskih točk in vozlišč, za informiranje s pomočjo QR kod. ENG The Q:aRt project serves as the MFRU-KIBLIX preview event,
offering information to the general public about the festival’s objectives and content through the means of generated codes, designed to redirect application users to a website which provides information about the festival. Thus, the project is investigating not only the potential of QR codes in informing the public, but also the potential contained in various city locations, spatial points and nodes to serve as informants via QR codes. VOJKO POGAČAR: Od 2D do 3D (Od računalniške grafike do 3D tiska) / From 2D to 3D (From computer graphics to 3D printing) Predstavitev in vodstvo / Presentation Izum računalniške tehnologije predstavlja za današnji čas novodobni Guttenbergov reprodukcijski stroj, ki šele omogoči resnično dvosmerno komunikacijo, hkrati pa, poleg lingvistične, integrira še slikovno informacijo. Na razstavi bodo na ogled računalniške grafike Pogačarja iz ‘80 let, pa vse do sodobnih izdelkov, ki jih je umetnik nadgradil v 3D podobe. ENG Computer technology inventions are the nowadays modern Gut-
tenberg’s reproduction machine, permitting access to a genuine bilateral communication while integrating not only linguistic but also imaging information. The exhibition will showcase a selection of the author’s computer graphics from the 80’s, alongside his more contemporary creations upgraded to 3D images.

technological process that could radically influence and alter our future. It is charged with expectations – that someday we will be able to manufacture clothes, medicine, food and even body organs and numerous other medical components, such as bone implants and teeth – and for that reason, 3d printing is placed in the center of intermedia technologies. V kodiranju prepada med razvitim in nerazvitim svetom, med sodobnimi oblikami revščine, socialne nepravičnosti in eskapizma – iz le-tega se razvijajo novi socialno angažirani pristopi obravnave kompleksnega sodobnega družbenega stanja: recikliranje hrane v jugo-vzhodni Aziji, razseljevanje in krivična obravnava muslimanskega prebivalstva Palestine/Izraela, sodobne oblike ekonomskega suženjstva, marginalna pozicija umetnika v družbi … Zeitgeist narekuje analizo in kritiko novih tehnologij tudi v odnosu do etablirane ekonomije in prava, avtorskih pravic ter iskanja alternativnih izhodov iz tega primeža. ENG Coding the gap between the developed and the underdeveloped
world, between modern forms of poverty, social injustice and ways of escaping it, new socially committed approaches are being constructed, treating the complex present-day social conditions: recycling food in southeast Asia, depopulating and mistreating the Muslim inhabitants of Palestine/Israel, modern forms of economic slavery, marginal position of artists in the society... The Zeitgeist dictates a systematic analysis and critique of new technologies also in relation to the established spheres of economy and law, copyrights and the search for alternative ways out of this grip. Udeleženci omizja bodo govorili o ključni vlogi, ki jo imajo delavnice in delavničarski pristop v sodobnih interdisciplinarnih umetniških praksah. Delavničarstvo je odprtokodni način deljenja umetniškega, tehničnega in znanstvenega znanja na podlagi transdisciplinarnih delavnic, ki spretno prepletajo teorijo in prakso. Odpirajo nove kanale kreativnosti, hkrati pa omogočajo vključitev javnosti v procese, ki so bili del zaprtih znanstvenih ali umetnostnih sfer. ENG Panel guests will be discussing the key role of workshops and the
workshopology principle inside contemporary interdisciplinary art practices. Workshopology stands for the open code principle of sharing artistic, technical and scientific knowledge on the basis of transdisciplinary workshops, which cleverly interweave aspects of theory and practice. They open new channels for creativity and at the same time enable the public to become a part of processes that used to belong to closed scientific or artistic spheres. ENG Participants of this themed panel discussion will present their
own practices and personal research in the field of sound art and musical experimentation – new interfaces, ways of documenting sound, transformations of non-sonic records into sonic, and expanding the ability of sound stimuli perception. An important component of the panel – apart from authorial poetics – will also be the open code principle and free access to copyright works and knowledge, which are the common thread of this yearŐs festival.
