At 3 years old, children discover and create.

We encourage them to do it all.

At Kiddie Academy® Educational Child Care, children learn throughout the day, including playtime, because the opportunity to learn is always present. Our I Can Do It curriculum is designed to inspire children to explore and progress at their own pace. It encourages children to discover their own style as they create opportunities, accomplish tasks, and learn new skills.

3-Year-Old Curriculum

I Can Do It

Kiddie Academy’s expert educators encourage children to make choices while guiding what they learn throughout the day. Children interact with peers and educators in small and large groups. They also explore and discover in our developmentally appropriate learning centers, as well as on our age-appropriate playgrounds.

Kiddie Academy understands that it’s an exciting and challenging time for children. At this age they’re naturally inquisitive, take pride in doing things independently, and love to be praised for it. They’re learning new words, simple sentences, and nonverbal communication, as well as developing and refining gross and fine motor skills. When creating the I Can Do It curriculum, we took all this into consideration.

Language Arts and Literacy

Our curriculum includes many opportunities for 3-year-old children to listen to stories, retell them, sing, and say simple rhymes. We use our Music & More program in classrooms to provide children opportunities to incorporate songs and instruments in their daily lives. We encourage children to ask questions, share ideas, explain feelings, and talk about what they’re doing as they learn. Children begin to recognize print through the learning center signs and start to identify letters and their names. Dramatic Play, Blocks and Transportation, Writing, and the Library centers are a few examples that strengthen language development through play.

Mathematics

Our curriculum gives children practice with identifying numerals, sorting, and sequencing items. Children practice counting beads and blocks and begin solving simple math problems. Our educators also work with the children to identify similarities and differences within a group of objects.

Science

At Kiddie Academy, we awaken children’s awareness of science by honing their observation and

problem-solving skills. Children learn about people, plants, animals, and weather. Kiddie Academy educators also help children develop an appreciation for our planet as they learn how to protect it from pollution and waste.

Social and Emotional Development

Kiddie Academy provides an ideal community atmosphere to learn, play, take turns, and share with friends. In the learning centers, children participate in many activities with friends. Kiddie Academy educators are there to help guide children to develop a healthy sense of self. Educators model appropriate ways to express emotions so that children learn how to communicate effectively.

Gross and Fine Motor Development

Our curriculum presents many activities that help children work on gross motor skills. They practice walking in a straight line, walking backwards, jumping, throwing, catching, balancing on one foot and hopping. Our educators also give children the support they need to confidently continue developing new skills.

Kiddie Academy educators support fine motor development by helping children use play dough, crayons, markers, puzzles and other appropriate materials. As children practice scribbling, they begin to see that some of those scribbles begin to resemble letters and words. Fine motor skills are also developed as children feed themselves during our family style meals, and through other routines, such as zipping up or buttoning their coats, and washing and drying their hands independently.

Character Education

Kiddie Academy believes it’s important to introduce children to a wide variety of character traits. Each month we focus on a positive value, such as honesty, generosity, and patience. This helps children better understand the society we live in and sets a foundation for their transformation into caring citizens.
