Lessons on life this Women’s Health Week

Obviously getting older is something I think about and probably more so now I have kids, but do I embrace it and think how lucky I am to be getting older and seeing life in different stages, or am I still just trying to cling onto youth? What would I write to my younger self and even my own daughter about being a woman, getting older and loving who you are?
Number ONE – Always wear sunscreen! Years of factor 4 oil in Europe have not treated my forehead well and really the suntan is not worth it! Number TWO - Be kinder to yourself, and don’t compare yourself to others, we are

all unique and different. Things that you think are flaws are not, they are part of you.
Number THREE – Never take your health for granted. Don’t miss those checkups, make them part of your routine. Number FOUR – Eat well, exercise and try to be healthy (but everything in balance ;-)) you will be grateful for it when you are older. Number FIVE – Don’t ignore stress and anxiety but find ways to help you manage them. Number SIX – In relation to number five, if you can, work to live don’t live to work, at the end of the day when all is said and done will it really have been worth it. Number SEVEN – You are always stronger than you think you are, remember that. So this Women’s Health Week lets embrace getting older, take control of our physical and mental wellbeing, be positive and enjoy life!
ave you heard of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)? The NDIS provides support for Australians with disability. It can provide funding, information, and support to help people with disability and developmental delay achieve their goals like greater independence, community involvement and improved wellbeing. But the process of navigating and accessing the NDIS can be stressful and confusing for many families. Telethon Speech & Hearing (TSH) is a registered NDIS provider with programs and services that are eligible to be funded by the NDIS. This includes early intervention and school support for children with hearing loss, individual and group therapy options for children with speech and language difficulties, speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychology, and audiology services. TSH also has a dedicated NDIS Consultant within its team of experts to help families understand and access the NDIS for children with hearing loss, language delay or developmental delay. NDIS support from Telethon Speech & Hearing can include: Family education about the NDIS and how it can be beneficial to you Working together to prepare for your

Helping Families Through the NDIS
By Claire de Franck, Editor hen I sat down to write this article ahead of Women’s Health Week this month, I confess I did have a bit of writers block, but then something fell into my Facebook feed as fate would have it about women getting more beautiful as they grow older, not less, and what would happen ‘if all the women in the world started loving themselves even more with every year that passed.’
