Hope and success for your child in 2014 s 2013 comes to a close we all start to reflect on the past year: joys, disappointments, concerns and hopes for next year!

Parents need to ask themselves these questions: • Has your child had a difficult year? • Do you wish they had reached higher standards? • Are they disappointed with their achievements? • Do you feel their needs are not being met by the school system? • Did they perform poorly in NAPLAN? • Does your child avoid written work, spell poorly and prefer not to read? • Do you have a bright, under-achiever who needs a real challenge as well as assistance? • Are they beginning Grade One in 2014? • Do you have a child who needs to learn about Study Skills before secondary school begins? • Would you like your child to begin 2014 on a more positive note?

Curriculum Feedback received from parents and students shows just how effective the holiday programs were in past years: 12year-old Adam was delighted with himself when he was the only one in his class who could understand a new maths concept (with fractions and decimals) presented by his new Year 7 teacher. The Pre Primary and Year 1 students who attended the transition program in January 2012 were off to a flying start in Term 1. They had covered reading, writing and maths and had been given a handwriting program to boost their selfesteem. They didn’t want to go home at the end of each session. Jess scored high marks in Year 4 maths and is now confidently doing extension work. The Year 7 to 10 students responded Continued page 19
