Seeking success on your fertility journey
I’ve separated, what now?
by Hollywood Fertility Centre, a member of the Genea Gr oup
I
nfertility issues have emerged as a major issue for modern couples. Career demands, age and lifestyle choices are often mentioned as significant factors contributing to infertility. But so is delay in seeking help to resolve an emerging infertility problem.
plan is designed to address your specific treatment requirements and inform you of your personal chances of success. Patients benefit from the science of Genea, world leaders in fertility and the dedicated team of scientists, nurses and support staff.
“It is important for couples to seek treatment early by talking, first, to your GP,” says Hollywood Fertility Centre (HFC) medical director Dr Simon Turner. “As a general guide, conceiving is often affected by age and lifestyle choices. So if you’re under the age of 35 you should seek treatment if you have failed to conceive within 12 months. If a woman is over the age of 35, she and her partner should talk to their GP if she has failed to conceive within six months.”
Hollywood Fertility Centre staff are dedicated to achieving successful outcomes for their patients and they would like to welcome you and make your experience with them as comfortable, simple and stress free as possible.
Just as there are many possible causes of infertility, so there are multiple approaches to treatment. With a referral from your General Practitioner, the fertility specialists at Hollywood Fertility Centre can undertake a comprehensive assessment of both partners to evaluate the likely cause of the couple’s infertility. From the results a personalised treatment
Through pioneering science and personal, professional care and support, you can be assured of the team’s dedication at every step. They aim to give you the best chance of success. Why not tour their facilities and meet the scientists, nurses and other staff involved, to help you gain an insight into the science behind the scenes. It will give you a sense of how they will look after you during the various stages of your treatment cycle. ouglas Cheveralls Lawyers often have clients who are newly separated (married and de facto) and are overwhelmed with the daunting task of navigating the family law system. Here are some things you can do to make the process easier: • Try to keep it amicable. You are far more likely to negotiate an agreement with respect to children and property if you and your ex can be civil towards each other. Importantly, the children will benefit from having parents who can work together and present a united front. If you can reach an agreement about parenting and property, it can still be submitted to the Family Court, but it is much easier and far less expensive than litigation. • Do not ‘bad mouth’ your ex and never post anything about your ex, or the break up, on social media. That will very likely have an adverse outcome. • Change the passwords for online access to emails, social media and bank accounts.
including bank statements, tax returns, superannuation statements and trust deeds, and place those copies in a safe place. • Create a list of all of the assets and liabilities of the relationship, even if you are not sure of the values or amounts owed. This will help your lawyer give you proper advice. • Review your Will, Enduring Power of Attorney and consider whether you are still satisfied with any specified beneficiary, donee and executor. • Keep a diary and record events as they unfold. Finally, have a think about how best to resolve the issues between the two of you. For example, would mediation help? Perhaps a settlement conference, or negotiations between lawyers may be of assistance. There are many options available to assist you. To seek family law advice specific to your circumstances, talk to Mark or Natalie at Douglas Cheveralls Lawyers on 9380 9288.

Get warm, not burnt this winter
A
s the weather cools down the risks of burns and scalds in children increase. Each year approximately 500 children will present to Princess Margaret Hospital Emergency Department for a burn or scald injury, one third of these children will require admission. Currently the most common cause of a burn or a scald is from hot food and drinks. These injuries can cause serious, lifelong issues and scarring, however they can easily be avoided, saving both parents and children an immense amount of pain and suffering. • Supervise young children in the bathroom and the kitchen
Children between 0-4 years of age run the greatest risk of sustaining a burn or scald injury, with children aged around one year were of particular risk. At these young ages children become mobile, however are not at a developmental stage where they can assess risks for themselves and therefore must depend on adult supervision for their welfare.
• Keep kettles, cords, pots, pans and microwaves at the back of the bench • Use non-slip place mats instead of table cloths • Put your child down before having a hot drink
To make sure kids ‘Get Warm Not Burnt’ this winter there are some easy tips to follow to prevent burn and scald injuries:
• Place barriers around fires and heaters and talk to children about why they’re there • Ensure your house has a working smoke alarm and test the batteries regularly.
• Control the delivery temperature of your bathroom hot tap water to a maximum of 50C. This is now law in WA. A simple tempering devices can be installed by a licensed plumber

right, capable students of all ages can struggle to reach potential and often need experienced specialist teachers who can make a huge difference.
“Ballet uses both the left and right sides of the brain as well as touching on every subject learnt at school,” says Ms Beth James, principal at The Conservatoire. “Ballet unlocks creativity, movement and imagination that is lacking in today’s children because of video games and tablet devices. It builds confidence and self-esteem as children perform to an audience and develops a natural appreciation in children for music, theatre and the arts.” “Mathematics and physics is used when children learn patterns, rhythms and timing. Jordan’s maths scores (Year 10) went from 48% to 95% in one term and he has much better study skills.
“History is learnt as children are always learning about where accompanying music, dance moves and sequences come from.”
Elly’s NAPLAN scores were below average in Year 3 but she is now confidently spelling, editing and loving maths activities.
It’s this broad, unique and holistic approach to traditional ballet that contributes to the success of the students at school. For more information call 9361 3651 or visit www.theconservatoire.com.au

During a child’s final Montessori primary years, they develop a greater level of abstraction with academic subjects and move away from using sensorial teaching materials as books are the main teaching materials in high school. They are also guided in ways that improve planning and organisation. They develop familiarity with standardised testing and working to deadlines.

How do children transition from Montessori Schooling to traditional schooling?
A child who’s been in Montessori since age 3 has years of daily practise working cooperatively, negotiating with peers, being a leader or follower depending on the situation and learning how to learn. Individual selfreliance and dependability is developed because the children are regularly making decisions for themselves about what to work on, or pacing themselves with activity.
