Ultimate success with SEMAS Abacus Math
T
here is no doubt that maths is an important requirement for your child’s success in today’s world. It widens career choices and builds self-esteem. SEMAS is a program designed to develop the right side of the brain using the abacus as a tool. Something so unique, it will change the way you and your children feel about maths. SEMAS focuses on whole brain development. Their aim is to integrate and make both hemispheres of the brain work. When learning how to play piano or ride a bike, people use the left side of the brain to do the logic part. After a lot of practice this information is stored in the right hemisphere of our brain (the photographic and creative part). This means that once it is stored in the right side, the information can be recalled much faster and without having to think about it. The ultimate aim of Soroban Education is the mental calculation (ANZAN). This means the image of the abacus is brought to brain and calculates mentally without seeing the abacus. It can be seen how the neurological cross movements happen when both left and right side of the brain are used.
Lives changed every day at Kip McGrath
This program uses numbers and maths, but is not limited to maths. You will see improvement in other subjects at school as well and your child will foster a love for maths. It enhances the photographic memory and develops listening skills, insight, creativity and also improves concentration, imagination, speed, accuracy, self-confidence and problem solving. Most important, SEMAS establishes a strong foundation. SEMAS is an international registered company and is the only organisation from Australia admitted as a member of GASJMA (Global Association of Japanese Soroban & Mental Arithmetic) which is not offered by any other organisation in Australia. SEMAS will be competing in the 2016 International Math Championship in Singapore. They have centers across Perth, including Currambine, Landsdale, Subiaco, Belmont, Victoria Park, South Perth, Canning Vale, Livingston and Southern River. Call them today for your free trial. Franchise opportunities available across Australia. Visit www.semas.com.au email info@semas.com.au or call 1300 436 009.
K
ip McGrath Education Centres all share a common goal: to help students achieve their learning potential, and to foster a love of learning in all students. They are so excited when their students excel and feel great about themselves that they want to celebrate their success by sharing some amazing stories. Kip McGrath Booragoon: “Ellie came to us as a Year 3 student struggling with maths. We assessed her and found that she needed to start from the beginning of her year level. After just four months of tutoring Ellie had already reached the middle of Year 3 maths. Just before her goal date, Ellie was reassessed and achieved outstanding results. She had fully caught up with school and was ready to begin Year 5 maths. “When Tom came to us as a Year 1 student he was one year behind with his reading and spelling. Tom began our Reading Program and, in less than one year of tutoring, had caught up with school in spelling and surpassed the level expected for his age in comprehension.
Tom graduated two school terms before his goal date, having already surpassed the reading level expected for his age by 8 months. Kip McGrath Jandakot: “Abigail, a Year 3 student, needed help with her mathematics. This week she arrived at the Centre beaming with pride and exclaimed, “I was the only Year 3 person in my class to get 100% in the mathematics test! Her mother relayed the same message with grateful thanks to the Jandakot Kip McGrath. Kip McGrath North Perth: “Baxter and Roman are two brothers who have been attending the North Perth centre since February this year. Since then Baxter has improved his spelling grade by 2 years, his comprehension age by 20 months and his reading by 14 months. Younger brother Roman has also improved his spelling grade by a year, his comprehension age by 13 months and his reading age 14 months. It has been so rewarding seeing these brothers grow in confidence and

When a student is learning a new technique or training for their next belt, there is a level of intensity and focus that can’t be seen elsewhere. When they make a breakthrough and achieve a new goal, the confidence and self-discipline instilled is something that can’t be taught in a classroom. It is a completely different approach to learning.

ifelong eating habits are formed during childhood, so it is vital that your child develops a healthy relationship with food at an early age. Dietary habits established in childhood often persist into adulthood. As parents you want to ensure that your children have a healthy attitude towards food and don’t see it as threatening or as a reward. By the time your child is 12 months old, he or she should be eating a variety of foods. Their diet should contain small serves of meats, vegetables, fruits, breads, grains and dairy foods. If inadequate food is consumed children do not have enough energy to explore, discover
An independent, professional assessment with a complete, immediate face-to-face report will provide the up-to-date information about what will help your child to make that progress. isappointed with your child’s NAPLAN results? They are simply a snapshot of how your child is doing at a particular time and in specific subject areas. These results can be affected by nerves, health, learning difficulties and absences. To help your child improve in basic areas needs specialised tuition. Specialists at International Centre for Excellence provide holiday Academic Boost and Self Esteem courses to help all children reach their potential. Students are relaxed during the holidays and therefore receptive to learning.
They do not apply a “one size fits all” as ICE staff know that children learn in different ways.
