Dear Readers, As we all know, children’s clothing has been following trends in both men’s and women’s fashion for years. Especially those which prioritize comfort and performance. Most recently, “athleisure” has become an important component to the adult market and now has trickled down to the children’s arena. We see kids becoming more active today, following their parents by going to the gym, yoga or some type of sport activity. More recently than ever they like to mirror their parents’ way of dressing.

Activewear particularly has become extremely relevant for kids. Children need clothes that are both fashionable and functional to hold up to their active lifestyles. More and more manufacturers are seeing this as a very marketable part of their business and adding activewear to their collections. We are also seeing an increased use of stretch denim and jeggings among women which has trickled down to the kids market as well, by enabling children to wear more comfortable, softer denim styles. This is all showcased inside the pages, so don’t miss our fashion trend reports debuting new styles for Spring/Summer 2018 and more. Happy shopping!

Shayna’s Shoutout
Hey guys it’s Shayna, I am back with another fashionista who never fails to show her true self through her clothes. Maddie Osso, a 16 year old girl who exudes everything trendy wherever she goes. Wearing extremely fashionable clothes that express everything she is about. She never lets anyone dull her sparkle, and she wears whatever she wants, without caring what others think. She is always shopping and is very up to date on what’s in fashion. Maddie is the go to girl, to know all the coolest and trendiest new things to wear. Many of her peers follow her outfit ideas, and she says “that could not be a bigger compliment.” She even has an instagram account dedicated just to her outfits! Through the eyes of Maddie, take a look at what the coolest trends to wear are and what is in fashion now.
Hope you Enjoy. All my love, Shayna Salomon
Would you prefer to wear summer outfits or winter outfits? I prefer to wear summer outfits any day! I love summer colors and how they look with a tan. Also, it’s a fact that summer clothes cost less than winter clothes which is a plus! For school how long does it take you to plan your outfits? It usually takes me 15 minutes to get the perfect outfit. The night before while in bed I like to think about what I can wear the next day.
32 | It’s a Kidsworld
Kids Kloset —By Shayna Salomon
Maddie Osso Age: 16 Harrington Park, NJ What and who is your inspiration for your style? I get a lot of inspiration from trips to the city. Most trends that I have seen have started in the city, and it also has the best stores. Other than that, I get most of my inspiration from people on Instagram like Charlotte Lawrence, Kaia Gerber, and many others.
How often do you go shopping? I go shopping around once or twice every 3 weeks. I always like to check up on stores and see what the newest styles are. And you can never forget about online shopping!! I keep tabs open for every store I shop at to go on to look at what is new.
Do you read or watch anything fashion related to know what is in style? I don’t read much on fashion, but I use Instagram to get all my information.
How would you describe your style? My style changes daily. I always like to try new clothes and accessories because, to be honest, having one specific style gets boring. Eventually, it gets to be old news, so throwing on a different article of clothes every once in a while, can only do you good!
Are you a trendsetter? I love to consider myself a trendsetter! There is no better feeling than seeing someone wear something they saw you wearing first! Do you wear jewelry with your any or all your outfits? I think jewelry can really make or break some outfits. It can add a huge touch to a simple outfit. My favorite jewelry company is Ela Rae because it is handmade and just gorgeous! What is your favorite store to shop at and why? I can shop absolutely anywhere, but one of my favorite stores is Urban Outfitters. I am a huge fan of their vintage style clothing because it is such an interesting look. They have several brands that they sell through their stores that are reasonably twice and all great quality.
Do your shoes determine your outfit choice or do you plan your outfits and chose the shoes later? It all depends! Sometimes an outfit will be all about the shoes, which means the clothes can’t draw all the attention. The shoes in that case need to make a statement. Basic clothes make flashy shoes pop. Other outfits can be all about the clothing, and you can put on any pair on shoes that will match. Do any of your friends inspire you for your fashion choices? My friends love to make comments about my outfits. I have to admit that their opinions don’t usually
“... instead of playing it safe with outfits, step out of your comfort zone sometimes and try something new!” have an impact on my style because I like to wear what I want and what I feel good in. We talk about fashion and what is trending all the time. My friends have their own unique and awesome styles too. Do you have a special outfit that you like to wear all the time? I actually don’t have a specific outfit that I wear all the time. I like the idea of mixing up outfits and putting different articles of clothing together. Does your outfits change from the weekends to the weekdays? Considering I have to dress a certain way for school, I like to dress differently on the weekends. I rush my outfit picking process a little more for school. However, for weekend events, I have outfits planned for days ahead. On the other hand, I enjoy just relaxing at home on the weekends and wearing comfortable sweats around my house, so I definitely favor my weekend wardrobe! When you go out do you wear nicer clothing and try harder with your outfit choices or do you just throw on whatever you see? When going out, I try to look my best. Especially when I go to the city, I love that I can wear whatever I want because that’s just how people do it there. It’s the best way to live. What is your go to outfit? My go-to outfit is definitely a t-shirt, jeans, and platform sneakers. It is comfortable and there are so many different ways to wear it. You can go with a band t-shirt and skinny jeans or a basic, solid t-shirt with ripped mom jeans, one of my favorite looks.
show, but I NEED to see one during New York Fashion Week! Has your style changed increasingly over the years? Over the last few years, my style has changed drastically. I look back at some old pictures and can’t imagine how I thought I looked good back then! It all depends mostly on what is trending at the time, I guess. Do you like to wear only namebrand clothing or will you wear anything? I definitely used to lean toward clothes from specific brands. I used to be so nervous about going out of the box and worried about what people would think about my outfits. Recently, I’ve liked finding some different clothing pieces from different stores and wearing them with things I would usually buy. I realized how much more interesting my style could be!
give to anyone who is into fashion as much as I am is wear whatever you feel good in, no matter what others tell you! Also, instead of playing it safe with outfits, step out of your comfort zone sometimes and try something new!
Do you think the new trends differ from up West from the East Coast? The fashion on the west coast definitely differs from what we wear on the east coast. Most fashion icons I follow on social media are from or live in California, and their clothes totally speak for themselves! A lot of trends that I see in New York during the summer come from the west coast because it is like summer all-year-round. I would die to live in LA one day!
What stores do you shop at? I like to look at any stores with clothes that interest me, but a few stores that always catch my eye are Urban Outfitters, Pacsun, LF stores, Brandy Melville, and Threads.
What is the trendiest style right now? I think one of the biggest trends from this past year is anything Calvin Klein. Not only are their products cute and simple, but they are most likely the most comfortable pieces to wear! They are easy to throw on with almost anything!
Have you ever been to a fashion show before? I have never been to a fashion
What advice can you give other stylish people like you? The only advice I would
