INSIDE: Poetry, Guest story, Featured article, Fun & Games , Character review WWW.KIDZLYFE.WORDPRESS.COM
From the editor’s desk... Welcome to our second issue of kidzlyfe! At kidzlyfe we believe that learning can be both interesting and fun. We believe that by giving children a platform to showcase their talents and share their knowledge they can learn from one another and perfect their skills. Kidzlyfe accepts all articles and artwork from children of primary school age but only the best get to be featured. We believe that they will motivate their readers to write, draw and/or think as best as their contributors. In conclusion, I would like to thank all parents for their support in the making of this magazine and encourage all parents to allow their children to forward their work to us. God bless you. The Living Doll
“D
addy, have you seen Cindy? She said she‟d be down here waiting for me?”
“Who‟s Cindy, dear?” I asked her, my left eyebrow arched above the edge of the daily in my hands. “Cindy? My doll? You came home with her last week?” Her large brown eyes stared up at me, a pink piece of cloth hanging from her left hand - a tiny dress? “Never mind.” She said, her mother‟s lips puckered into a frown. “She must be upstairs. She‟s always playing tricks on me.” She left, her small feet trotting up the staircase. I got back to my paper. Where was I? I set it aside, maybe I needed more coffee. I walked to the kitchen and poured myself a cup of hot coffee from the pre-heated kettle. I brought it to my mouth and recoiled. It stung. After so many months, I still never remembered how hot coffee could be straight from the kettle. “I‟ll be out back,” Her voice startled me. In my thoughts, my senses had gone completely numb to the world around me. She was at the back door now, one foot eager to touch the grass below. “Cindy wants to show me something.” And she

Though you didn‟t share my fears When I was afraid of the dark Or of that thing under my bed: You taught me not to fear. And you made it all okay. Though you didn‟t tickle my feet Or laughed at my jokes You taught me to believe In having high hopes. And made it all okay.

scampered off. My eyes followed her through the half stained kitchen window. I watched as she picked up a flower from her mother‟s little patch against the fence. She‟d loved those flowers. I picked up my coffee and took a sip. It was too cold now. I poured it down the drain. “Look how helpless I am without you,” I whispered to my reflection in the window. Libby ran past, her laughter filling the compound and myself with cheer. I went back to the sofa to carry on with my newspaper, but somewhere between the lines, I fell asleep. CONTINUE THE STORY!! Red-Eyed Tree Frog
R
ed-eyed tree frogs are frogs which live in trees, earning them the name „tree frogsâ€&#x;. They live in Central and South America. They are amphibians. They prefer lowland rainforest areas close to rivers and hills. They live for up to 5 years. Their predators and threats are bats, owls, snakes, tarantulas, toucans, and young alligators. If disturbed, the frog will abruptly reveal his red eyes. Which are quite scary. These frogs change their color according to their mood from dark green to a reddish-brown.
